The Aprilaire 800 steam humidifier is a powerful and efficient whole house humidifier that can serve up to 6,200 sqft. It has various features, pros, and cons, and its price is competitive with other Aprilaire models. The Aprilaire 5000 is the latest flagship air purifier, meeting the mechanical ventilation requirements of Energy Star Certified Homes and EPA Indoor.
The Aprilaire 700 humidifier includes an outside sensor that picks up on the humidity outdoors and adjusts for your home. The Aprilaire 600 Whole Home Humidifier adds moisture to your home’s air and is a HVAC accessory that adds moisture. The grey color power humidifiers require 24 volt power to engage the internal relay, which sends the 24 volts to the water solenoid valve.
Aprilaire humidifiers are evaporative-style humidifiers that require heat, water, and air movement to add moisture to the air. This 24-volt duct-mounted humidistat can operate in automatic or manual mode. The beige A700 should be the self-powered model that doesn’t require external 24v in. To measure based on ideal outdoor conditions, add an outdoor sensor at some point.

How does AprilAire ventilation work?
An ERV (energy recovery ventilation) unit is designed to move air in and out of a domestic property, thereby maintaining a consistent temperature and humidity level through the use of an energy transfer core. ERV units facilitate the regulation of airflow into and out of a residential setting. The AprilAire Ventilation Control Model 8126X is not dependent on a transformer for the damper, as the controller does not transfer power to the vent terminals.
How does AprilAire humidifier work in winter?
The AprilAire Whole-House Humidifier is a device that creates humidity in the form of vapor by trickling water down an evaporative panel, allowing the furnace to provide both heat and airflow. This process turns the water into vapor, which the HVAC blower then disperses into the air. The AprilAire Humidifier is designed to raise absolute humidity in the home while increasing relative humidity (RH) in the air. Too much RH can lead to mold, mildew, and fungus growth, while too little RH can lead to water theft from various sources, including building materials and the body.
How does a humidifier work inside?
The process of humidification is defined as the use of a humidifier.
How does an AprilAire system work?
Aprilaire humidifiers are evaporative-style humidifiers that require heat, water, and air movement to add moisture to the air. They are designed to maintain a relative humidity level of 35 at an indoor temperature of 70F when the outside temperature is 20F or above and the indoor temperature is 70F. If your HVAC heating system has a short run time for a heat call, this may result in a short run time for the humidifier and not reaching the desired humidity set point.
When there is a need to add humidity to your home, the humidifier control sends a signal to the humidifier to operate. Water is introduced into the humidifier and flows over the Water Panel® evaporator, absorbing moisture from the air moving through the HVAC system. The vapor is distributed to your home through the duct work by the blower of the HVAC system. The humidifying process continues until the humidification set point is reached or the HVAC system stops operating.
Water not used in the evaporation process is used to flush away mineral deposits left behind from the evaporation process down the drain. Aprilaire evaporative humidifiers are wired by the HVAC installer to only operate when the heat is operating. If the humidifier is supplied with hot water, it can be wired to operate on an HVAC fan call, initiated by the thermostat which includes a switch to run the HVAC system fan continuously.
Aprilaire humidifiers are designed to maintain an indoor relative humidity of 35 at an indoor temperature of 70F when the outdoor temperature is 20F or above. Factors such as age, cubic footage, tightness of the home, and the operating time of the HVAC heating system will affect the actual humidity level achieved.

Is AprilAire a dehumidifier?
AprilAire, a company that has been providing Healthy Air solutions since 1954, aims to improve indoor air quality for homes and environments. Their signature solution, the AprilAire Healthy Air System®, includes fresh air ventilation, air purification, humidity control, zoning control, radon mitigation, and sanitization. AprilAire Dehumidifiers, part of the Healthy Air System, set the standard for whole-home humidity control and energy efficiency.
Balanced humidity reduces the incidence of respiratory infections and allergies and asthma symptoms. Additionally, AprilAire helps preserve the natural beauty of items in homes that may be susceptible to warping, rotting, or pest damage due to high humidity levels.
Does AprilAire use a lot of water?
The AprilAire Humidifiers have different feed rates, with the Model 300 having a six-gallon-per-hour feed rate, while the 400, 500, 600, and 700 have a three-gallon feed rate. The 500, 600, and 700 use 1-2 gallons of water per hour, with hot water being required for the 700. The 800 Steam Humidifier has an 11. 5-gallon feed rate, with water usage between 1-3 gallons per hour. The voltage level of the canister determines the water’s boiling speed, and cold water is needed to temper the hot water during its weekly drain cycle.
How does indoor ventilation work?
Exhaust ventilation systems depressurize homes by exhausting air and allowing make-up air to infiltrate through leaks in the building shell and passive vents. They are most suitable for cold climates, as they can draw moist air into building wall cavities, causing moisture damage. These systems are simple and inexpensive to install, typically consisting of a single fan connected to a central exhaust point.
A better design is to connect the fan to ducts from multiple rooms, preferably those where pollutants are generated, such as bathrooms. Passive vents can be installed in other rooms to introduce fresh air, but they may require larger pressure differences than the ventilation fan.
Who are AprilAire competitors?

What type of humidifier is AprilAire?
AprilAire Evaporative Humidifiers are designed to function with hot, cold, hard, or soft water, enhancing the evaporation rate. They are particularly effective when used to complement the heat generated by the HVAC system, which increases the evaporation rate. AprilAire Whole-House Humidifiers balance home humidity levels, promoting better sleep, dry skin, productivity, and protection against airborne viruses. They also help preserve home contents from cracking and warping due to low humidity levels.
The recommended relative humidity level depends on outdoor temperature and other home factors. AprilAire has been providing Healthy Air solutions since 1954, focusing on managing all aspects of indoor air quality for various home types and environments. Their signature solution, the AprilAire Healthy Air System®, includes fresh air ventilation, air purification, humidity control, zoning control, radon mitigation, and sanitization. Proper humidity levels help reduce the airborne incidence of bacteria, viruses, fungi, and dust mites, which can cause respiratory infections and allergies and asthma symptoms.
How do I know if AprilAire is working?
In order to test the functionality of the Aprilaire humidifier, it is first necessary to set the knob to the “Test/Reset” position. It is then essential to ensure that the water saddle valve is open and that the unit is connected to a power supply. It is imperative that the furnace blower motor is in a state of operational readiness and that the furnace is calling for heat.

Does it make sense to put a vent fan in a vented crawlspace. I am trying to reduce crawlspace air from coming into my home. The crawlspace has no mold or water issues, has a vapor barrier, and has vents that open and close with temperature changes. I am a bit confused on the best setup prior to encapsulation as my budget is not there yet and my home does go above 60% humidity at times when the a/c isn’t running. Thanks!
