  • Yeah 40k for a 100-200 sqf kitchen isn’t happening here in NYC. There’s almost nobody out there willing to pay that to remodel a small kitchen. You’ll get around 25-30 for a reconfiguration and about 20 if they’re going with an appliance package separately. There are exceptions but 40k is above average here.

  • I have remodeled many kitchens. I sell cabinets and also work with the countertop suppliers. I assemble and install the cabinets. All great quality with premium hardware. Most kitchens remodel I do range from 15k to 20k Pricing varies mostly based on the counter selection. This also includes sink and faucet materials and install. Backsplash depending on size of kitchen another 600 to 800. Homeowner provides faucet and tile. I see alot of way overpriced cabinet companies out there charging crazy numbers. I do agree with the statement made in this article that you’ll see the difference in quality vs DIY so if you don’t have the skill set or time then hire a pro and save yourself some big headaches😊

  • Contractor work through a project manager involves another person to get paid. Theses costs that he is stating allows him to keep his hands clean while making 20% (low-end) of profit on these figures. These are not valid numbers across the country. If you want to be hands-off with a remodel, expect to pay double to triple compared to hiring licensed independent contractors yourself.

  • For price of one kitchen in America, in my country You can make entrire bathroom from scratch, tiles to the seiling, kitchen with qualitly tiles, all over, not just between elements, kitchen from the best matherials, and furnish living and dinning room, all after prices jumped up to 30% for building matherials and furniture, that is how expencive America is, just the fact We produce ceramic tiles in our country, and most of building matherials, fact that Italy is close, makes all this stuff that costs 10 times more in America afordable here out of EU.

  • Think people need to reevaluate what “small” means. That first picture, you have a 7ft island, two pantries, and a double oven, with 42 in walking space. 40k is totally reasonable for that, but most people can barely fit an island in their place, let alone have space for two pantries. 15-25k is more in line with what the kitchen would actually be for a normal sized small kitchen

  • So I just remodeled my up stairs, kitchen, living, dining, laundry room and half bath, walls came down everything was reconfigured, all new furniture, all new wood flooring throughout, I spent 250k and I didn’t really have any value engineering (except my cabinets I originally got the 70k bid for my cabinets and was like nope can’t do that) 😂, but we hired everything out as we are contractors. It is pretty sweet! It was worth it!

  • This article makes me beyond happy about my upcoming kitchen remodel. When I first contacted my contractor, I told him that all I wanted to do was switch the built in oven/microwave with the refrigerator and paint the cabinets. Then in subsequent years tackle more kitchen improvements, knowing how expensive kitchen remodels can be. He asked me for my vision of my dream kitchen. I told him it included a new kitchen island with more cabinets and a larger cooktop. A new wall unit with upper and lower cabinets. New countertops and backsplash. He drew it all up, told me that I would be happy with the price even though I was skeptical. He sent me to his showroom to pick out the cabinets, countertop, and backsplash. I picked out a quartz countertop. A few days later, I got the price and I was shocked. $28,000. Let me also tell you that my house is very large (5000 sq ft) and so is my kitchen. Sounds like I’m getting a great deal with him! I live in PA.

  • I had an estimate the other day for a kitchen replacement. Almost took my breathe away. They did good, better, best design. They did line items for materials but they were gc with their subs and just put labor almost 60,000! So over 100k for a kitchen. They use dealers for cabinets states away. I am getting other quotes now and checking with builders who have cabinet makers close to where I live. I am hoping to get same quality for lot less price with local cabinet maker shop. The master bath they quote 80,000 and just replacing items not even much moving from current places. The fact they would not be transparent breaking down labor to subs and what they are charging for a GC fee makes a customers feel like they are heavily padding costs and overcharging. The people were extremely nice and professional but what they were charging you could almost build a whole freaking house! They had almost 300k for 1 kitchen and 1 bath remodel.

  • Tim, Nice remodel! Love the T-111 paneling instead of that nasty old aluminum! personally, I would have changed out the windows to larger windows in the back…. and with these old units making them 1 bed 1 bath is about all you can do with them…. I have a friend who’s dad redid his trailer and it turned out really nice! these units are really hard to remodel without having to completely rethink the floor plan…. Great work!

  • Hi, do you have a article showing how you re-did the siding and replaced the windows? Also, does this home have 2×4 exterior walls or 2×2 or 2×3? I have a pre-hud home that has thinner walls that I want to re-do the siding and re-do the windows. I am going to have to make the walls thicker somehow to accommodate the vinyl windows and also to add more insulation….looking for some advice. I have seen some just add wood slats (1×2) to the exterior metal and attach the siding, I’m just worried if that will hold up.

  • How are the Mini Splits doing in a single wide mobile home? Are a lot of people going with the mini splits in single wide mobile homes and older ones like this? Are they less cost-effective? Reason I’m asking is I have an old single wide mobile home that the central heating air needs to be replaced just wondering if it would add to the resale value and how well they do

  • Great refurb! My question is: Who would be able to afford this after the renovation? I wouldn’t think you’d make much profit on something like this after all this great work and $$$ sunk into making it look great a livable? Someone who is going to spend that kind of money for a mobile home would just as well get a small house. Maybe I’m wrong.

  • The mobile homes that you have remodeled look really nice (good job!) but I have noticed that when you replace the steps to the doors, they are only as wide as the entry and the rail looks like it would be to close to the door opening, especially if they are bringing in groceries or furniture. I would think you would want to make at least the main entry steps wider. One for safety and two for ease if you have a handful of groceries or just having your hands full.

  • So if I’m not mistaken the back room has to be accessed by walking through the open laundry room/2nd bathroom?.. soooo let’s say if you have guest over and you are in the back room and someone just happens to have to use the bathroom, and they go to use that one in particular… the person in the back room has to wait until the person using the bathroom has finished so they can get out of the room?… or the other option is for the person in the room exit to the outside of the home and go around to the house to get out of the room (so they don’t have to wait for the person using the bathroom)?🤔. Nice update but found that layout to be odd, also could have been that you flew through the tour so fast that I missed a second indoor entry/exit to the backroom, but if that’s not the case then that sucks for whoever is stuck in the backroom 🤣.

  • I never bought anything at home or anything and I bought this 1988 Danville and it was a mess I didn’t know how bad it was until I got in there and I had a contractor to come in and he took me for $10,000 so now I’m trying to fix this up on my own and I need some help some clues or some advice what I should do with certain things

  • It looks great! But do you fell its worth it to do this in a mh park? Its seems as though they just allow anyone live in and destroy these homes in this particular one. And since you’re not part of that process I would worry. After all the hard work and money you have put into the home is it worth it.

  • I’ll share this memory with you if you don’t mind..When I got to the US, Don and I bought a similar home. We had met when he was in the Air Force in Italy; it was such a privilege to be together in our little home. Someone got into the marriage, Don is now in heaven and I am back in Italy. I hope that home will be restored to preserve those memories…

  • Putting a refrigerator in a corner with the hing by the wall makes opening the refrigerator door far enough to remove the veggie bins for cleaning difficult if not impossible. Also, most people are right handed and prefer to open the refrigerator door with their left hand and reaching in with their right hand. You want at least a narrow countertop on both sides of a stove, as it is, but a broom closet to the right of the refrigerator giving the refrigerator door a wider space to open would have been preferable. Would have wanted the sink centered beneath any window(s) and would prefer all windows to open.

  • The interior wood paneling, what did you replace it with? Since its not conventual sheet rock . I had a 1992 Nashuwa MH, put a hole in the wall and it was like 1/4 sheet rock board and couldnt find a replacement any where ? The ceiling looks amazing as well as the outside . What do you use for ceiling ?
