Hi thanks for sharing what has got to be one of the best building tips for Sons of The Forest I have seen so far, this has given me some rather helpful tips of how I am going to build my base, and Yes I have been using Cheatstick from time time for some items, but I do like the actual cutting down the trees animations whilst using a Axe, I have just Subscribed to your website as I found your article extremely useful! 😊
Awsome article! Many thanks. I need that bar NOW hahah #29 – you can avoid all that by placing at least one stair. It locks the diagonal beam in place, enabling the vertical snap point 🙂 #37 is also not needed anymore since there are corner ramps now. intruded and extruded. The triangular frames no longer need a vertical beam. but i can’t make corner overhangs and arch bridges anymore. Since 1.0… 🙂
This game seriously just needs to remove the building restrictions / add a modifier key to ignore them. They clearly are screwing up the ‘restrictions’ resulting in needing to do dumb workarounds like 5:05. And we’re already existing in a world where you can build on Ice and have a floating house in the summer. So just let the players have fun.
My brother and i raided a Cannibal camp and grabbed all the goodies. While we were there i saw an Outboard boat motor on the ground and hoped we could attach it to a raft or something later on. Night time fell and we decided to go back to the camp and see if any Cannibals or goods respawned…..we found an 8 foot Cannibal leader wearing a golden mask and using the Outboard motor as a weapon. He mauled my brother with it and turned to me…i threw a spear directly into his face and he fell over backwards, seemingly dead as a doornail…..so i ran over to revive my brother…the giant Cannibal jumped back up and charged us both with his boat motor WMD and wasted us both. 10/10 would fight Albino Cannibal Shaq again.
Dude, dude man getting fish is SOOO helpful. This ai and getting fish, logs and building I mean these devs really have set the bar for a UE5 game it’s “UNREAL” HA…anyway. People complaining are the types of people buying and spending hundreds on 76 and back a AAA team meanwhile this small team was able to set the bar on an Early Access game.
We waited for 1.0 release to play this and we need some new beginner guides, not this 11 month old stuff. I’m playing on normal difficulty and it gets very hard after maybe 5-6 nights as there are constantly multiple enemies harassing you so you could never just have a little house out in the open like this. The first thing everyone should do is find a defensible location near a stream and build shelter with a wall and have few traps in good spots, then start to do this stuff in article.
Bro I haven’t even explored yet I have 3-4 main areas that I go to 1 is my home 2 is the lake I use for fishing 3 is the cave with the printer with golf cart outside (I build my base near that cave) and 4 a river which I am planning something with but I just don’t really know yet I’ve been pre occupied making the home fit to King Kelvins standards
what if you do not find that cave, what if you do not care and do a fortress first. The game punishes you for that. Spending 20 days on the first spot will have you killed. Rushing is the word. So rush the game – run by everything – do not care – Is winning after around 12 h0ours. Take your time is not working – it gets harder and harder to not make progress. Spend 30 days at your camp without going out? your done. So survical is of run for the best is in. That is how the game is played the easiest.
They really need to change how the armors work, sure make the low level armor like bone or leather break on hit, but things like the tech armor and creepy armor should have a durability attached to them. Maybe make it so that when you skin mutants you get creepy skin that you can craft into creepy armor that can tank 3 hits before breaking, and the tech armor can’t tank hits or break easily, but it lowers the amount of damage you take for each piece you’re wearing. So you can wear like 4 pieces of tech armor combined with creepy armor to tank damage and lower damage taken.
Or because you have tarp to save and sleep and have meds and MRE could explore 3 or 4 highlighted points and lay down tarp to save as go. Finding 3d printer and shovel are paramount. Getting squirrels and rabbits and have “Kevin” follow and near water have him fish . Wouldnt build (settle) till got Zipline and other mentioned items above. Just thought..
I think far more games should pay attention to details like this for ALL games, everything from the lower 3/4s of the body to the brim/bill of a baseball hat or even a mask or sunglasses… These tiny little details add unfathomable amounts of immersion such as something so small as a vignette partially obscuring your vision. Good work devs!
To get resin esily : Don’t know if its just mine or not but in those green circles where we could find basement. I dont know how to say the exact location but in one of those green circless which is free to enter(doesnt require shovel or anything) inside theres lota of items and 3d printer along with resin. Inside that I made the tent and save the game after collecting all items. I then exit the game, enter the last save game and all the items are there again😀including resins and stuff. I repeat this process and can be done as long as I want to. I wonder it could be done in other places too
