Does The Instapot’S Water Go In The Pot Inside Or Outside?

The minimum amount of liquid needed to cook in an Instant Pot® is at least 1 cup (8 oz) as it turns into steam, increasing the pressure in the pot. If you don’t have any water, there will be no pressure to cook. For Instant Pot® appliances compatible with 220–240 V outlets, visit www.instantpot.co.uk or www.amazon.co.uk.

To clean your appliance, make sure to check that it is sealed and that the inner pot, sealing ring, lid, and steam rack are all dishwasher safe. Most recipes call for some liquid, such as water, sauce, or stock, to be added to the inner pot, not the Instant Pot itself. Wipe down the inside of the cooker base and heating element with a dry cloth before putting it in.

The Instant Pot inner pot has a line that indicates where you can fill it, so do not go over this line. The manual provides instructions on how to use your Instant Pot for the first time, but it is important to note that the Instant Pot is still a popular multi-cooker launched in the 1980s.

When preparing meals, it is essential to follow the instructions provided in the manual to ensure that the inner pot, sealing ring, lid, and steam rack are all dishwasher safe. The Instant Pot® does not cook by boiling, so a lesser amount of water is enough to prevent burning.

  • Mine is curiously able to drip from the lid switch plunger because there’s only a very shallow raised ledge around the plunger, and is there is excess fluid dripping from the lid when propped sideways after cooking, it runs over the hole and straight down to the counter. Curious if this was designed this way or if it’s missing an o- ring on mine. If you have fluid dripping down to the counter despite having the condensation collector cup properly installed, it may be from the lid plunger switch. This switch is used to detect when the lid is in the open or locked position.

  • Thank you for this article. I purchased my instant pot about a month ago, and the furthest I got was taking it out of the box. It’s been sitting on my counter ever since, I’ve been too scared to use it because I’m terrified of pressure cookers (grew up being taught how dangerous they are) so this article really helped. I am going to give the water test a try now and see how I do 🙂
