  • We have a 2022 Globetrotter 23 FBT which we tow with a 2019 Toyota Tundra 5.7L V8. We started out with a Nest, found out quickly that it was too small. Traded in for a 19 flying cloud corner bed with bunk. Better than the Nest, but still was a tad too small for us two with 2 dogs. We love the Globetrotter trim level, and the 23 is the largest Airstream that our Tundra was rated to tow. We love the bathroom being all inclusive (shower, toilet, & sink in one compartment), plus it’s on the opposite side of the trailer from the beds. As we were perusal this article, we both agreed that’s if we were ever to go full timing, it would have to be in a Classic, which of course would involve getting a bigger truck. We only “glamp” about 2-3 times per year, going out for anywhere from 1-2 weeks. We are sold on always having an Airstream travel trailer!

  • Those are five great questions to ask. However, we need to send some love to our wet bath… If you think about it, all Airstreams are small spaces. The space for a dedicated shower is used – at best – 5 minutes or less each person per day and in reality, probably every other day. The space that would have been allocated to a shower in our 22′ went to the kitchen which we use all the time. In reality, they make engineering sense to us. Safe travels!

  • Airstreams are great. It would be great if airstream made the bed configurations reversible to enable both the twin beds to convert to queen bed and back, therefore Adjust your bed configuration prior to leaving for your trip. Airstream 22-25 feet floor plan configurations are the most usable and affordable airstream selections for the mostly/seasonal halftime RV’ers. Love my 22fb Caravel towed with a Tundra.

  • We were on the AS train when just recently looking to upgrade. We loved absolutely everything we saw about them online and actually customized one and had the dealer almost order it UNTIL we started reading stories about how terrible the cushions were for the dinettes. So we found a local dealer with a few in stock. I’ll tell you what, I have no idea how AS owners deal with these terribly uncomfortable seats. Even the Pottery Barn version couch isn’t comfortable. And I know the Classic 30′ has a “couch” but we do not want a trailer that large. Sounds silly, but that was the deal breaker for us, 100%. We’re done being uncomfortable in our first 3 RVS… I also felt like the bathroom was like being in an airplane. I don’t just understand the hype anymore, we’re sorely disappointed. Airstream needs to do better and offer recliners and real couches. And yes I know there are specialty shops that do this, but I’m not paying 100g’s just to rip out dinettes and pay more $$ for new furniture. BUT, I did find out from AD corporate, there are some shops that can order the shell from AS and then they work with you to design the entire interior. That’s our long term goal but for now, we found the absolute perfect trailer for us with comfortable seating at a fraction of the cost. Resale value means nothing to me at this point….

  • Hey Rick and Lisa – We have been perusal for a while and like your content. We are transitioning from a 30′ Flying Cloud to a 25′ Trade Wind FBT! Where were you guys camping for this article? It looks like the FamCamp over at JAX. I am retired Air Force so we stay at FamCamps as much as we can. We really like your new covered area for your AS and the road you installed. Am I guessing correctly that your place in in SC? I have a sister in Columbia and am originally from NC. We now have a home (basecamp) in Tennessee. We will get our TW sometime in March ’24. Cheers! Brian & Brandelyne

  • This is helpful about choices. Teetering on the 20x or another 20footer. solo explorer deets for me. At first the 20x. but now second thoughts. I’d like to have use of both exits but having the bed up full time seems to get in the way of flowing in an out of the back. would prolly like to see bed set ups. I think one couple had the bed set up going across shaped in twins perhaps one twin might work going across leaving room to exit both sides of the 20x. the 22’s seem a bit awkward just to have the bathroom in the back. I can prolly manage a CB or preferably a FB. If I opt out of a 20x to another 20 footer. I think the 3 inch lift would work. I’m not really focused on national parks I’m more focused on off grid settings. Once in a while rallies ok but as social reclusive as I am I’ll Cleary stand out in the crowd. Brian

  • We have a 2022 Flying Cloud 25FBQ. We find that it is the perfect size: plenty of interior space, yet small enough to fit on most campsites. We really liked the International as well, except for the upper cabinets with the translucent sliding doors. We prefer not to be able to see what is inside our cabinets. As pointed out in the article, all Airstreams are very nice with unparalleled quality of built and finishes. Good article.
