Tesla’S Internal Camera Location?

The Model Y may have a cabin camera located above the rear view mirror, which can determine driver inattentiveness and provide audible alerts to remind drivers to keep their eyes on the road. The front cameras are located at the top of the windshield and consist of a typical lens, a wide-angle lens, and a telephoto lens. The telephoto camera can see up to 250 meters ahead.

The Model Y includes components that actively monitor the surrounding area, such as a camera mounted above the rear license plate and ultrasonic sensors (if equipped). Tesla vehicles now come with nine cameras onboard, eight on the outside and one inside the cabin. These cameras work together with one Radar as part of the Autopilot suite.

The interior cameras are an integral part of Tesla’s advanced driver-assistance system (ADAS) and its broader vision for autonomous driving. Some drivers may want to cover the camera, which could deprive Tesla of important information for the development of Full Self Driving. The interior camera can only be viewed while sentry is on, and you can navigate to Controls > Service > Camera Preview once you receive this latest update.

There are several cameras mounted on the car, including a camera on the tailgate, one in each door pillar, two mounted to the windshield above the rear view mirror, and one behind the rear view mirror. There is an opt-in setting to allow data from the camera to be sent anonymously to Tesla for training.

In the holiday update (2022.44.25.1), it was noted that the interior camera cannot be viewed via Sentry mode or dog mode.
