  • Wow. I would not have been able to choose. The rooms were vastly different from each other but both were outstanding. Interesting how feminine one room was and how masculine the other. Yet both would work for a couple or family depending on the setting. The pastels would work on a seaside beach setting for both genders. The greys and darker hues would work in a modern, urban type setting for both genders. Well done, and fun to watch.

  • I think i would have picked Desolas’s room too. Because of a fair observation one of the judges pulled: natalie’s room was very beautiful and also so in trend right now, so i can’t see this room in 10 years, Desola’s on the other hand despite being very stylish is super elegant and atemporal, so it has more “room” to evolve in a long term. But again both of them are VERY beautiful and I’m so proud. I really hope this becomes a series!

  • I liked both rooms, but I loved Desola’s room better. I feel that Natalie’s room is too basic. Everyone on YouTube have the same pink colors with cactus and all the stuff. Don’t get me wrong, I love pink. Pink is my favorite color. But I just feel every YouTuber and people on Instagram use the same colors. Take for instance Alisha Marie. Desola chose gray paint, with gold and brass colors. It just made the room look more luxurious.

  • This was some good old school TV competition anxiety inducing misdirection, oh man! I was so stressed, his room so deserved to win but at the end he looked more insecure and serious while she was all big smiles when the judges did the whole “one compliment, one criticism” thing and kept looking at her more during the build up and then he won and I was so happy and impressed by the classic “acting” (of the judges) and editing that totally managed to misdirect me. His room is amazing. I’m so glad he won.

  • They should do a house of wars I think that’s its name. So they get two old house that no one wants and they get contestants and they renovate a room every episode so the kitchen then bathroom then the bedroom and etc. So they get 48 hours and at the end they get judges who choose a winner and that winner for that episode will get an advantage next episode. Before the last challenge which is usually the exterior they will send someone away and leave two houses left. For the last challenge the judges will be the people and they’ll walk in and judge and leave a vote at the end. Whoever wins will keep the house and call it their own. (I am completely sorry if my grammar wasn’t the best shown and if I didn’t do a great job at explaining)

  • i loved this! deshola’s design was so sleek and looked expensive and natalie definitely had more of mr. kate’s bohemian girly style which i also love!! can’t wait to see more of this series!! i don’t think joey was being mean i think he what he was doing was necessary for time management so the actual competition wouldn’t take forever lol

  • Can Desola do my room? He did a good job on the bold side of the room. My room is gray which I do find cool. I have his style more than Natalie, I’m not to crazy over bright colors even when I do like blue. I like any type of blue but at the same time I like bold colors, like gray, light gray(which I have in my room), black & white. I did What’s My Aesthetic and it gave me bohemian, i was mostly shocked because I like bold colors as well. I did love Natalie’s room, it’s just I don’t like bright colors that much. I love that there styles are different.

  • Everyone has different opinions on both of the rooms I personally have more of an minimalistic rooms so I personally like the guys room because it’s so simple and looks very luxury. But the girls room is more colorful which I personally don’t think is the best for a living room but everyone has there different opinions.

  • Wow! The idea of his show is just too good! I was actually anxious for both of them, they both did really great job, although I was expecting Natalie to win. What I love about this new show is how Joey turned out to be bad cop and Kate is the good cop, but they’re great combo of course. And Finally the critique was super professional! I’m so happy that Mr.Kate website is becoming so successful and popular <3 - love from the middle east.

  • Mr. Kate I really like the things you did to make Design vs. Design better since this first one. Adding the charity is great. Adding a specific design challenge is great. Having the judges see the room first before having a tour is great. Having the contestants swap rooms to see the other, then giving a quick summary opinion on them is great. Also having them pull the stuff while shopping and throwing it all in one pile is great!

  • I love how Joey and Mr Kate were like ying and yang. I felt as he was playing the little devil on your shoulder to give you constructive criticism. And Kate was the little angle there to help guide you through the process. Although they both helped alot. I love both of the rooms. Especially Natalie’s. Maybe I’m a little biased bc I love pink and that frickin lamp… (I always wanted a lamp like that.) So glad they both got to participate in such an amazing experience that can help them, and us.

  • I did like his room better than Natalie’s but I felt everyone was leaning to her. Desola’s room seemed very cozy, nice, and represented his style very well. I do agree that Natalie’s is on trend because everyone now a days wants a room similar to hers and Alisha Marie but I loved the elements that were added to the other room. It seemed realistic I suppose.

  • I love both of the designs, the women’s is more for a women’s cave in my opinion a little girly for a normal living room. I liked the mix of the pink and teal sofa but didn’t like the DIY log. The men’s space was just beautiful I loved everything he chose and could see myself living there. So my winner is him.

  • I really liked Natalie’s room, it’s airy and light like she wanted, but I felt like if she had chosen a more neutral color for the paint it would really let her furniture, art, and styling pieces serve as a pop of color and stand out more. Her DIY came out beautiful though!! And I love that blush couch. I loved Desola’s room! I liked how dark and cozy it was, that’s personally very inviting and relaxing to me. I liked his mix of shapes and metal, I think that provided structure that the neutral colors may have taken away. But I do agree that he should have left some negative space! This was awesome!!

  • Natalie’s room is totally my style. Just enough pop of color and it really feels so relaxing. Also, the color of the walls makes taking photos real easy! The space just opens up because it’s bright and airy. You totally killed it girl! While Deshola’s isn’t something I would pick for myself, it’s likewise good. Sleek and clean and structural. 🙂

  • I loved both rooms and how both were bachelor pads…. I think both rooms have a lasting impact but I was definitely drawn to the pink room, yes she could have added neutrals but when you are a single girly girl you will have color while his was on the cooler side almost seen in a magazine type of room. Both did a great job and I dont think hers was Tumblr, I believe women are developing more of an identity to their space.

  • I am sooooo glad Dasola won, since i liked his room better, since he did room that both genders can enjoy being in there, and the girl did more kinda like girly room, and it is very important : to make others feel cozy and comfy too. I am girl myself but i really, really liked his idea better from the begining (sorry if i wrote something wrong, english is not my main language)

  • I really loved desholas room! He really balanced not only all of the elements he used, but the esthetics of his materials, he used the dark leather chair to make it feel more masculine, the brass, velvet and glass to make it feel very glamorous and the sectional and the rug still made it look homey everything flowed well together, really really good job!

  • I would of also chosen dashola, because idk if it’s just me but when it’s rainy outside and like cloudy, I love the vibe of that, and if it was rainy and cloudy in Natalie’s room I wouldn’t really like the vibe, even though I am super girly I would kinda like a break of that but that’s me so…., srry for giving my opinion, hopefully y’all agree with me

  • Right at the beginning of the article I knew Deshola would win because he seemed to know what he was doing more than Natalie. Natalie seemed so much more confused and unsure about what she wanted to do. And Deshola seemed to be classier, don’t get me wrong, I loved Natalie’s design, but the guy seems better when it comes to decision making. Natalie’s looks like something out of a magazine….It looks gorgeous but I can’t see myself living in there.

  • Desola was my favourite, too. His room looked much more solid and inviting. Natalie’s felt like something you’d see on a magazine page but not necessarily want to live in. The overall episode was very fun to watch but the parts where you hurried them up and pressured them with time felt very unpleasant for me as well. Not like in an increased tension and suspense way, but just unpleasant. I get what you were going for, a sense of increased stakes, but it wasn’t very enjoyable to watch. I think a more relaxed vibe to it, even with the same time limitations would be a lot better for the viewer.

  • Rant: So at first I felt as if Natalie was being to rude, and Mr.Kate was going more towards her. I also thought that it wasn’t fair that there was no male judge. It was all females and I felt that maybe a male would help the vibe. I understand that you guys think joey is being rude to Natalie but think about it like this. He had already ordered paint and she was changing it, he had to do so much work, he didn’t think it was fair what she was doing you know the diys and changing stuff. Plus he’s a male of course he’s isn’t going to love pink just like some girls hate decorating a man’s room. In the end i believe dosala (don’t know if that’s how his name is spelled) because he had a room that can be useful in the future while Natalie’s was just 2012 tumblr.

  • I don’t understand how the judges were saying his room was cozy or inviting at all. It felt lace up, restrictive, and cold to me. He literally choose a colour with no hue to design around! Hers felt magical, upbeat, and comfortable to me. The kind of living room you can really LIVE in! It was very inspirational. I would want to hang out in it and talk, play, and create. Desola’s room looked like what people imagine being an adult has to look like, while Natalie’s showcased what it can actually be.

  • I’m not confident usually but gurl I can tell you I WOULD SLAY THIS CHALENGE HANDS DOWN ! I’m kind a disposing that was sooo obvious like the girls choose an Instagram trendy look with pink, light blue and gold accent vibe with cactus ! I’m mean can you do more unsurprising then that ? And the guy choose a grey room with modern accent vibe and mid-century furniture !!! OBVIIIIIIIIIIII Plus they choose really like « trendy » things and I’m tired of it like GUYS TRY SOMETHING DIFFERENT EVERYONE HAVE THE EXACT SAME DECOR : cactus, pineapple, bohemian throw pillow, mid century furniture … so dumb No hate but step it up !

  • I was worried about the choice of pink, but it turned out to be such a relaxing space. I could see myself cozying up to a good book and a tea, good job! I was happy when the color was chose for the second room, I love gray. I thought the room was well planned, only I would not be a good judge because, I dislike gold so much that I would say no to that room, but it was a great room I loved everything else about it except (GOLD).

  • Joey, you seemed ‘stressy’ throughout this…. somewhat rude to Natalie I thought- you’re usually so nice to folks. The film has been edited I know but all seemed rush, rush, rush- no one chooses colours in 30 seconds! No reasons given as to why he won… and no idea of the cost of all the trappings. I prefer your own makeover articles but perhaps this was a sponsored one off? Completely different styles cannot be judged except by design gaffs ( like purposely hanging art upside down – signature upside down? Oh dear!)

  • Both of the contestants did amazing jobs on their rooms! My personal preference would definitely lean toward Desola because of the luxe vibes. When I look at it, I immediately think “warm masculinity.” His room was a superb balance between the masculine strength of the leather and the dark colors and the feminine comforts of the luxurious fabrics and small decor items. It was powerful but soft, and I think it would easily work for both sexes. As the judges said, it was also timeless. Any person in this room would feel classy. He livened up the dark colors with his use of vibrant, warm metals. The art used was gorgeous. It looked both classy and comfortable. Natalie’s room was very feminine. Lots of colors and pastels. She played with a lot of textures and colors. She used the mirror to make the space appear larger, but (to me), the mirror seemed a bit too fancy for the style of the room. The first words that come to mind for her room are “cotton candy.” I seemed like she tried to use colors that normally would be thought of as childish and make them luxurious and appropriate for an adult. I think she sort of accomplished this by using high-quality fabrics and a few metals to add that fanciness, but I think the various colors brought down the “fancy” factor. Her room was definitely cozy and because of the lightness of the room, plus the blankets, it made the environment that much warmer. I also like that Natalie was willing to take style risks in less traditional ways; it has the possibility to reap BIG rewards.

  • I honestly believe they should do this again but next time they should decorate the room based off a certain THEME so there won’t be such a big contrast to the rooms when deciding who will win. Also, it’s great to see what they can make with a theme that they have never tried before, which can test their creativity.

  • The boy’d room was good. It had a really geometric and mature feeling. But I like Natalie’s room better. It had a fun, positive vibe. The both rooms are so contrasting, so beautiful. But if I come home after a long day of work at office, I would like my home to be more cozy, comfortable and colourful. PS: This is just a personal opinion. They are both very talented interior decorators.
