  • I’ve been driving for 25+ years and this had nothing to do with road rage. He was in the hammer lane for no reason and was already weaving in that lane. Looks to me like his load shifted from weaving and on a curve, slight as it was, he lost control. His driving career should be in question now…imho. Maybe he was having a medical issue, maybe he was on his phone or eating at the wheel…who knows but this accident is the drivers fault period.

  • To all drivers out there I will give you one big point of advice and it is hard to do at first. Treat every car like it is your closest loved one. Picture them in the car and your whole outlook on the road changes. I drove for 17 years before getting Vertigo and I always treated everyone with respect. Did that mean slowing down a lot? You bet your ass it did. I would rather have a 10 min longer drive time than be in an accident or cause a death due to stupidity. Really over a course of a day if your were to slow down for someone multiple times you would probably only lose about 2-5 min total. Most people do not think about the overall day. So who won in this accident against the four wheeler? The four wheeler won for getting this guy so angry he started driving bad. This was a road rage accident even though the car already speed away the truck driver was still enraged by the car. I know some guys that would be angry the whole day for less than this. If you are or you know someone like that they do not need to be driving a truck, this accident could have been a lot worse than it was just imagine a car under the trailer loaded with kids.

  • The truck driver was in the left lane for more than 30 seconds after the silver suv cut him off. The silver suv was even exiting before that truck driver entered the curve. The truck driver could have slowed down and moved over to the middle lane if he wanted to instead he hit the turn at high rate of speed and lost control of his trailer.

  • The SUV has nothing to do with this accident? The trucker is all alone in the left lane where he shouldn’t be anyway, he was speeding and tipped as he went into the turn. The SUV was 2 lanes to the right well ahead of the accident. Stop blaming others. The trucker is responsible, perhaps tired or other reason.

  • Something happened between the SUV and the truck behind the camera vehicle. As the truck passes on the right the SUV quickly passes on the left, changes lanes and then slows down to block the truck in the right lane.The truck brakes and then changes lanes behind the SUV. When the truck swerves over to the left lane the SUV moves to block him again before dropping back to exit. Definitely road rage but the trucker should have followed his training and let it go.

  • This is on rt 17 in Nj. In about 1 mile the right lane exits off. He was probably staying in the left lane to get on I-87 north. Containers can sometimes be very top heavy and unstable. And since they are sealed by customs you can’t inspect the cargo to see how it’s loaded. It seemed like he just took the curve to fast.

  • This article is a good example of why I no longer drive a truck it’s not necessarily the passenger vehicles on the road it is a lot of the other truck drivers are idiots this truck driver was clearly not in proper control of his truck swerving all over the lane before entering a corner at too high of speed and causing the trailer to lift and overturn the rig completely the correction in which he made was incorrect instead of getting on the throttle like you would any sports car to correct yourself and gain more control you’re supposed to slowly roll off the throttle in a tractor trailer plus if he was having trouble maintaining his position in the lane going straight down the road and early in the corner he should have let off the throttle in backed off his speed plus there is also the possibility that his trailer may have been loaded heavy to one side versus the other or the incident of him versus the silver SUV that was clearly bowling him but had pulled off at least 10 or 15 seconds before the guy rolled over to take the exit could have caused him to shift his load making him heavy on the left side of his trailer or her trailer but either way this was completely avoidable even if the load was shifted in the trailer to one side making it heavy on one side versus the other cuz the driver was clearly making Corrections cuz something was not handling right and going into a corner with the truck not being stable the driver should have slowed down.

  • I’ve been on that road 100s of times. That curve doesn’t seem like much of anything, but once you’re in it, it will bite you in the ass if you’re going to fast. It kind of sneaks up on you, especially if you’re top heavy. I always watch my speed going through there. Some people are saying his load might have shifted, but I didn’t notice a seal on his trailer. Most loaded containers are always seal. But then again, I could be wrong. By the way, if any of you ever drive through there, that Valero on the right is a nice place to grab a quick bite. They fuel your truck for you, and they have excellent coffee. P.S. This had nothing to do with road rage, that driver took that turn too fast.

  • I know exactly where that is…NJ Rte.17 a few miles from the NY state line. That part of the road has a very sharp curve in it, but just a little further ahead. The driver was clearly all over the road…driver error, period! As for him being in the left lane, this section of highway, the middle and left lane go into Rte 287 (allowing any vehicle to be in the left there) and the right lane is an exit.

  • From what I gather the truck driver was falling asleep and apparently cut the ford explorer off at some point. The ford explorer was trying to get the attention of the driver to pull over and get some sleep, but the semi-truck driver continue to drive and continue to sleep until they swerved hard enough for the jack knife to occur. To Ford Explorer thank you for trying to save a life, unfortunately they were stubborn.

  • I wonder what condition his front end was in. He obviously drifted out of his lane, and when there is a surface transition, if the alignment isn’t fairly precise, it can make the steering do unexpected things. If his attention had wandered when the surface transition got his attention, he most likely overcorrected trying to get back in his lane, then the surface retransition finished him off.

  • The SuV was messing with the truck from the beginning, he was trying to block him off and than as a coward got off the exit, so the trucker sad F,,it and went in the left lane to put everything behind him,yeah he could have slowed down before the turn but he wanted to pass everyone and get back to cruising, imnt a truck driver but i understand how hard it is to change lanes, brake, speed, trucks are not sports cars and some people dont get that and mess around with trucks

  • He lucky that jersey wall didn’t kill him! Rolling over onto a jersey wall, especially with anteater KW, can crush the cab! Anteaters got very narrow cabs that cannot withstand something crushing it! This guy got lucky! He was traveling too fast on that curve for that type of trailer. Those containers will roll ya over quick! If ya ask me, those damn containers aren’t so secure. It’s only 4 pins attaching the damn thing to the chassis! They definitely aren’t built to speed around curves, that’s for sure! Then, at the beginning, he was having an issue with that four-wheeler, so he load may have already shifted inside the container at that point, then the curve finished it off!

  • I work at tractor supply(hopefully they don’t hunt me down n fire me after this comment.). There is no such thing as training, they play little articles and managers pressure u to rush through them as fast as possible. You either learn or u drown. My work place has a bunch of workers without forklift certifications, driving forklifts. ALL of our employees are not propane certified but are still expected to fill propane. My mangers has almost ran me over on the forklift 3 times, he is reckless. If you news people want a juice story, contact me. I hope my comment isn’t deleted.

  • You have to be a special kind of stupid to look at this article and go “ah yes, road rage caused this”. Road rage didn’t even happen. Dude wanted over because he was getting caught up in merging traffic, only the other vehicle beat him to the center lane. So he applied his brakes and then waited to change lines. He was in a hurry and got careless in the left lane, that’s all this was.

  • Well…I went to a Truck driving school outside of Kansas City,MO.in 1988 and I got picked up hitchhiking by a Speed- balling,meth head of a truck driver once as I was headed to the TX.Gulf Coast to be a successful shrimp boat deck hand, so I can vouch for all the veterans out there that this dude was definitely in the wrong!

  • This is why they need to put governors on every semi tractor engine, not just the company fleet ones. Those independent Cowboy truckers seem to think they can drive like a sports car, switching lanes, passing, going 90, etc… If a sports car goes out of control, the driver risks his own life. Whereas, a tractor Trailer driver out of control, will kill everyone in his path, EXCEPT for himself. Big difference. The risk for others is far greater when a 40 ton truck speeds, than when a 3500 lb car does it.

  • Road rage had nothing to do with it. I’ve only been driving a year now but even I know NEVER react to a four wheeler cutting you off like that.   • Sealed container or not, there is a manifest stating the contents and you leave the yard or dock or whatever typically on some scales. It’s not the height of the load that would worry me, it’s how much weight am I hauling. 40,000 lbs in the trailer or container whatever one wants to call it, I wouldn’t be too overly cautious even though you can’t go wrong being overly cautious but you can’t be scared of boogie Men either. Something wasn’t right with that trailer to begin with, come on man I know rigs, that initial turn was very shallow at best, it takes more than that with a top heavy load, and I seriously doubt it was loaded to the top on the driver side with pallets of flour and on the passenger side pallets of pillows. I don’t want to watch the article again but something didn’t seem right despite the fact that the driver has no business being the driver in my opinion.   • In Europe, heavy traffic vehicles are obligated to drive always on the right hand lane, only allowing them to use the second lane for overtaking slower vehicles. FORBIDDEN TO USE 3rd o 4th lane. It is insane to see how truck drivers use the fast lanes to precisely do what they are not to: drive fast.

  • I’ve been driving 31 yrs. 🚛 If you pause at 1:13 you’ll see he’s starting to drift into the left shoulder. At 1:14 he’s already starting to tip. At 1:15 his tractor still looks like it’s on all 10 tires, so I’m betting not a left steer blowout but load shifted and that’s why his rig drifts into the breakdown lane 2 seconds before it lays over. He shouldn’t have been in the left lane, but we’ve all gone over there to pass before… Amazing driving by the dashcam guy! 🙌🏼

  • Was road rage,or I mean at least that silver SUV brake checked(stupid and not safe) but at the time he rolled,it was just the wrong lane,wrong speed to take that curve,he swerved suddenly at that’s why it happend.maybe he was already driving like that and the SUV was trying to just let him know to slow down(in the most stupid way that he knew putting himself and others in danger).but…no…truck drivers fault.

  • xynudu right, truck drivers aren’t supposed to speed. Because of the trailer and it’s easier if they go a little bit slower for sharp turns. Speeding on a eightteen wheeler is a risk for you! Plus 🤞🏽💀most accidents happen because of cars 🚘 them just driving and suddenly get in the blind spot of the truck driver or the truck driver is speeding and the car slows down and crash or the truck trys to swerve around it. Swerving around a car is not the very most bright 💡 idea. But they dont wanna hit us and we dont wanna get hit. Why just try to slow down is more bright than swerving? Because your mostly likely gonna cost less or not much injuries for the car in front but depends where you are. Swerving on a high way you will most likely crush people and cars!   • I think the Truck driver had a physical or a mental problem prior to overturning his Truck going by the trouble he was having trying to keep it in control and on a straight line….I would,nt start pointing the finger so quickly regarding being crazy, drunk, maniac etc….as the man could well have been taken seriously ill….it can and does happen you know.

  • Even before the truck driver gets anywhere near that last bridge, you see the rear of trailer weaving and bouncing all over the road, then when the truck is finally approaching the last bridge in the article, you don’t see any attempts in braking and again you see the trailer weaving / bouncing across the lane, but with much more effect due to the slight right bend on the highway, which due to his excessive speed and the already unbalanced trailer it tips over. Who’s at fault here the truck driver is 100% He’s caused that massive accident, he’s lucky that trailer didn’t crush a passing car or motor bike. Truck drivers have to be fully aware of their surroundings at all times, use their mirrors constantly, and be looking ahead by at least 10 to 15 vehicles in front, and they should know the width, weight, height of their trucks with trailer and with out. Heavy Goods Vehicles i.e trucks are limited to certain speeds for a reason, there’s no excuses for going under a low bridge or going down a narrow road and getting stuck. This article is an example of incompetence and stupidity 😬 I suspect he lost his job 😴

  • And the need for tractor trailer speed regulator to max 65 mph is quite evident in this case. Also needed improved CDL violation laws that, such is the case in many European countries, a driver violation is also a corporate violation. This levies responsibility for companies to provide adequate working rules and conditions while remotely monitoring vehicle location, driver rests, etc.

  • It’s possible the trucker was at fault the whole time and could have been swerving before what we see on camera. The way the silver SUV storms up at 0:07 could have just been trying to slow the trucker or giving him a piece of his mind. By the end, the SUV backs off and it shows how uncontrolled the trucker was.

  • Load shifted during that change into the hammer Lane. After the 4 wheeler left he shoulda slowed down. All in all he shoulda just stayed in that right lane the whole time. That 4wheeler would’ve given up eventually. Road rage is not worth it drivers just stay your lane. And make sure you’re running a camera.

  • I bet the load was top heavy (such as bundles of card board or recycled rags for example) and to fast for that curve plus his lack of control of the truck prior to the curve indicates lack of driving experience or top heavy load causing the sway and/or too much play in the steering system. Either way in the end to fast for that curve in my opinion and not enough logical reasoning on drivers decision making. I don’t see the possibility of a medical condition in this accident.

  • Truck driver was driving like a idiot. I get it drivers get irritated, and most driver grow out of that angry type of driving or they end up on their side like this fool. Im a truck driver and like anybody ive gotten into an emotional driving situation many times but each person has to find a way to just step back and just drop whatever it was that got them wound up. That car driver maybe just had to drive ten miles but that truck driver maybe going all day everyday, yet hes driving that truck like its his honda and hes rushing to get to work . Its just not worth it to get mad at a car who is just nobody. Nobody is anybody worth killing someone or yourself over or even worth thinking about. as soon as you can just readjust yourself and be a professional let them flip you off or whatever, who cares.

  • The narrow trailer rolled before the truck. Was probably going governed speed on the highway. To me the trailer was loaded improperly, and this truck driver actually save the semi truck behind him from plowing into him and allowing space to maneuver to the right by being in the left lane. Not to mention he was driving into the city and theirs a handful of exits on the left. So endless no truck zone, he was fine.

  • It started out as road rage but then the four-wheeler got off the exit. The guy that truck was going way too fast. I used to pull those containers. Most of the time they’re top-heavy. And those containers weigh heavy even empty. He was just going way too fast around then curve. In other words inexperienced.

  • i understand that 40 tons of non aerodynamic equipment doing 60mph + can be a difficult thing in best of conditions…..so i give them plenty of room….would never try to intimidate a driver in that manner………but there was an issue with the silver suv……..i dont like that…..but the trucker could have should have maintained his lane position regardless……i will leave it to the courts to decide…..btw …this article is evidence and i trust you forwarded it to the appropriate authorities

  • That was stupid..he should just let that silver suv go about his business…he was pissed because he was trying to get over of u notice he had his left turn signal on..but silver suv had him pinned in…then he finally got over and jumped all the way in fast lane trying to catch up to silver suv probably to flick him off..in the process of flicking silver off he lost control….let the smaller vehicles just have there way

  • The silver SUV created the situation by moving over and boxing the container truck in and then cutting in front of the truck after it switched lanes. If the silver SUV would have just stayed in the left lane and continued on then there wouldn’t have been an issue at all. The NY plate on the silver SUV says it all.

  • I honestly think every commenter might be wrong about this driver having any road rage at all probably because of title..I’m also a semi driver and used to drive this road nightly so am familiar with it..it does appear he is speeding but not excessively because the truck articleing is pretty much going same speed..it dies seem that either load shifted or was just left heavy and trailer was swerving well before accident which is when he should of let off throttle..he did seem to be heavy on gas but I dont think he was being over agressive..tbh..drive safer everyone!!

  • I saw the truck impatiently trying to get to the middle lane, then when he did he was too close to the Explorer, the Explorer driver may have swerved to the left lane but so did the truck … and it looks like the load may have shifted at that point. The truck had a few warning swerves but the driver ignored them – remained in the left lane – and didn’t slow down… the curve finished him off. I don’t see road rage – I see a load shift caused by some bad driving by both parties.

  • Looks like to me he had an uneven lane to the left side(near the barricade). My rig will wobble like that if i hit an uneven lane. He should have let off the throttle the moment it happened, but he kept fighting it and it got his ass. I always let off the throttle and ease back into the lane when that happens. if you ask me it’s bullshit that so many uneven lanes are left for years when we pay billions in taxes to keep our infrastructure updated. Can’t go through a damn major city without miles of torn up highway that should have been fixed years ago.

  • When you sport the driver behind next to side vehicle drive less than 10 miles at current speed to help them by pass when they change lane cut more than 10 mph so that the between room you not tailgate them you need to stay away from the cut driver 650 ft because you and them about 5 ft or 6ft apart on the 65 zone

  • What had happened from what the looks of it is is the load shifted and completely through the truck out of balance now what happened before then with what that weight SUV did and the way the driver acted might have shifted the load but ultimately the load shift I had nothing to do with somebody acting stupid it had to do with the way that it was loaded and it shifting and it could have happened regardless of any situation. And the truck speed could have been a factor.

  • I doubt there was any road rage from the silver car or the big truck if you watch the big truck before he lays it over you can see he is swerving back and forth in his Lane chances are he or she was texting and come up on the curve… it probably thought oh shit grab the steering wheel turn too hard… that with the added lip on the edge of the road… but this is speculation because none of us know for sure
