This DIY tutorial demonstrates how to remove, repair, and replace the exterior B pillar posts on 2019 and similar years F150 Exterior Door Trim (B Pillar Post, Upper Door Molding). The process is quick, easy, and inexpensive, making it an excellent way to improve your car’s appearance.
To properly remove the exterior B pillar posts, you need to remove the rubber trim from the bottom 2/3 of the window assembly. To do this, insert a flat trim tool behind the trim and determine which side has the single adhesive strip.
The only way to remove the rear B pillars at the rear is by removing door skins and windows. Remove the rubber and screw, slide back the lower bracket to release the hood end, and pull up starting at the hood end. There are five plastic clips.
For 2015 Altitude models, there is a dent in the drivers side rear B pillar trim. To replace it, open the door and look at the side of the plastic. There are two screws needing removal first: one under the weather strip on the interior side upper back corner near the “A” in the diagram above. Open the door and pull back the weatherstripping on the inside to see them.
If the exterior B-Pillar trims (textured plastic between the front and rear side windows) come off, they are held on by an extremely strong double-sided tape. Pull the trim off from the top using a chisel, wrapped in cloth, and insert it into the bottom of the pillar. Push the top away from the car, push down, and screw it in place. Insert the bottom of the window side seal and push down.
