To replace a Marvin window or patio door, follow these steps:
- Crank the handle a couple times and push down on the arm to push the window away. The arm can be disconnected anywhere within the first 45 degrees of opening. Crank the arm back to the closed position.
- Reinstall the stop by sliding it in at the bottom first between the bottom panel drip cap and jamb. Press the exterior flange of the side part stop into place first and then press the interior side of the stop until it snaps along the entire length of the stop.
- Open the door as far as possible and cut around the perimeter of the doorstop with the tip of a utility knife. Slice along the edges of the doorstop where it joins onto the jambs.
- Remove covers by starting at the top of the exterior part stop, using a hammer and block to start to disengage the cover from the accessory kerf. On exterior applications, use a reciprocating saw or hammer and chisel to remove the blind stop.
- Remove superficial surface dirt by washing painted wood exteriors with water and a soft-bristled, long-handled brush (such as those used for washing cars).
- Order replacement parts for your existing Marvin windows and doors by filling out the Marvin contact form or calling support at 1-888-262-4192.
- Check for torn or short weather strips on the sill, head, jambs, part stops, and stiles. Use a putty knife to raise the part stop if it has slid.
- Rotate the sash until the pivot pins clear the jambs and remove the top sash from the frame.

Hello, I find this article very useful and will be working on our windows soon. I am having hard time understanding a small piece you took out of the window. Something like chimney block(Small piece of white spongy square block). Can you please let me know what exactly those are called and where will I find those to buy. Thanks a ton in advance.
The problem isn’t knowing the seals need replacing, the problem is finding the parts. Marvin Window sellers are NOT interested in selling weatherstripping, finding parts that match Marvin windows is pretty much IMPOSSIBLE and the Marvin window sellers do not give a shit after the sale. Overpriced windows made with gimmicky weather stripping that is pretty much no longer made if you need the parts. Pretty close to criminal products.

Thanks for this. In FL the weatherstripping bulb and spline type harden up and leak like a sieve. I had replaced a couple by sliding in which was a pain, but your suggestion of using my screen spline tool made it a breeze. Thanks! Of course getting the spline size I need is still the biggest problem.
