Thanks for this. My door keeps locking us in which is obviously unsafe- when I try to realign the key cylinder linkages as outlined on the Andersen site, the key just spins (it will push the lock out but then once it unlocks and we close the door, it locks us in again). Do we need to replace the cylinder as outlined here, or the “lock case”? I can’t find a “lock case” on the Andersen site so appreciate any input from you all.
I purchased an Anderson A-series sliding door and it did not have an outside key assembly. I ordered one and installed it. If you lock it, it cannot be unlocked from the inside. Basically, it’s a death trap. The key assembly was expensive and we just use it to unlock the door from outside because locking it from outside would be too dangerous. I tried to get support from Anderson but, they will not help. Basically, you get to talk to some high school kid on the phone that might want to help you but, cannot. I get angry every time I see an Anderson commercial on TV. I’ll never buy another Anderson product and I make sure no one I know will either.
