This guide provides a tutorial on how to create scroll wall decor using a home printer. The tutorial covers various methods of creating scroll art, including making calligraphy scroll signs, fabric printed scroll wall hangings, and appliques and onlays.
Scroll wall décor is popular due to its ability to add color and texture. For those who enjoy anime or video games, creating wallcrolls can be a fun and affordable way to add a touch of seasonal decor. Scrolled appliques and onlays are popular for filling larger flat areas with a focal point. They can be used on chairs, console tables, and headboards, and some homeowners place them above furniture.
Another DIY option is to make a hanging scroll from recycled materials. This elegant painted floral scroll makes a great gift or gorgeous decoration. It can be used with any free printable for any holiday or occasion or even with a printed photo.
Onlays are used to beautify millwork, which can be featureless and bland due to mass production. They are a wonderful way to add elegance and charm to interior decor. These finely detailed ornamental accents feature elegant scrollwork that adds Old-World charm and craftsmanship.
The tutorial also discusses the use of floral scroll vine designs as an onlay choice for shelves, range hoods, furniture, doors, fireplace mantels, and island decorations. The 20-inch hand-carved Scroll and Leaf Onlay Applique is another option for adding a distinctive touch to mantels, cabinets, vanities, and fine furniture.

This looks just amazing!!. My project is a portrait I had done in Venice many years ago. Sadly the Frame broke its currently in a cheap boring frame from a Charity Shop. I couldn’t afford a fancy frame to do it justice. perusal this has given me Inspiration as currently working on my Bedroom Makeover. Kind of Breakfast at Tiffany’s based including a false window for sparkles lol. On a very low budget. I’m also now thinking of the Headboard on my bed too. What a difference these type of Moldings and a piece of plywood will make. Thank you so much lovely 😍
Exactly the article I was looking for….almost. I’m wanting to do something like this to my medicine cabinet mirror, but couldn’t figure out where to get the ornate pieces. Thank you so much. Now I remember walking by those little ornate trim pieces at Home Depot. Your mirror turned out so nice. Crossing my fingers it works pretty much the same for a medicine cabinet mirror. That will save me a nice chunk of change on my bathroom remodel.
FYI…According to Plaid rep Treasure Gold Antique Gold 2 oz (Inventory # 3082) is no longer available and could not recommend a substitute. I tried Gold OR 4 oz (Inventory # 5535) on a test piece painted with Rust-Oleum American Accents – Metallic Gold 327909 and could not see any appreciable color difference. Will try Majestic Gold (Inventory # 5540) at a later date/time.
