Montana Republican Ryan Zinke has been confirmed as the Secretary of Interior by the Senate, making him the first person from the Treasure State to serve in a Cabinet position. Zinke was appointed by President Donald Trump on March 1, 2017, becoming the first SEAL and the first Montanan since statehood to occupy a Cabinet position. He was later confirmed by a 68-31 vote, and he was sworn in by Vice President Mike Pence at a ceremony in the Capitol.
The Senate confirmed Zinke’s nomination to lead the Interior Department by a 68-31 vote. Zinke is responsible for overseeing over 400 million acres of public land, mostly in the West. The National Congress of American Indians (NCAI) announced that Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke will step down by the end of the year. Zinke was appointed by Trump in December 2016, becoming the first SEAL and the first Montanan since statehood to occupy a Cabinet position.
In December 2017, Zinke was nominated to be the United States Secretary of the Interior by President Donald J. Trump and later confirmed by a Senate vote. The Senate voted 68-31 to confirm Zinke, and he was sworn in by Vice President Mike Pence at a ceremony in the Capitol.
Despite the Mariana-Trench-low standards of the Trump administration, Interior Secretary Zinke has been a remarkably destructive cabinet member. President Trump announced last week that Zinke plans to leave his position as Secretary of the Interior at the end of the year after serving for almost two years.

This is excellent news! If you follow MT politics, this may be the first HR Seat to switch parties this year. They have a popular Dem. Governor, and grassroots activist from ALL sides are pissed at WH for their proposal to begin selling off a significant amount of public lands! Look for a special election for his replacement coming at same time as organized protest reach boiling point. RNC should have seen that coming and asked the POS to consider another nominee. THAT, is the reason there isn’t opposition. On a side note…., Is it just me, or are these cabin members starting to look like each other???
