Revit is a powerful tool for creating 3D models, and its dimensions are view-specific annotation elements that can be used to indicate the location of a feature wall or display building width and length. To create a temporary dimension in Revit, click on one of its ends, move around the wall, and click Tab. This will toggle between the center of the wall, the exterior, and the interior face of the wall.
In this tutorial, Pierre Derenoncourt demonstrates how to use a 3D camera within the software to create an interior view inside a model. You can use your mouse to navigate any open view in Revit, and in 3D views, you can also use the ViewCube. To create a default 3D view from the Revit ribbon, use DI to enter your dimension tool.
As you hover your mouse over an object, Revit will show a blue line. If the blue line isn’t on top of the object you want to select, try hitting Tab a few times to cycle through different objects. To set up a temporary dimension, click on one of its ends, move around the wall, and click Tab. This will toggle between the center of the wall, the exterior, and the interior face of the wall.
In addition to dimensioning spaces, there is an option called Interior Tick Mark Display that allows you to create a faster magic way to dimension all your rooms. By understanding the different parameters and using them effectively, you can create more proficient and accurate 3D models in Revit.
