How To Install A Sun Visor Outside?

This tutorial demonstrates how to install a sun visor on a vehicle, focusing on the process of removing or replacing the sun visor. The process involves swiping the visor down, pulling it out of the roof lock, pushing it towards the windshield, and taking the small flat head towards the roof cover. The cover is then pulled off by using a hand to pull it out and down.

The installation process involves peeling the backing paper off the sun visors, assembling the hinges using longer screws, washers, lock washers, and acorn nuts, and attaching the hinges to the sun visor. The sun visor serves to protect the eyes of the driver and passenger from the sun’s glare. Over time, a sun visor can become damaged or worn down, requiring replacement.

The estimated time for installing a sun visor is about 5 minutes, making it an easy DIY job. If the sun visor doesn’t have brackets, use the sun visor to hold the shield in place. Repeat steps 5-6 for the other side of the window shield.

To install the four angled clips to the top of the windshield with the tops pointing up and towards the rear of the car, use small countersunk screws. Drill holes in the dead center of the pillar and drill off center to drill through the glass. If you have just bought a Glass Fibre exterior sun visor, you can see photos of how the clips fit to the visor and the gutter.

  • Looks Good! And yeah it always is something…I fitted my 15 gallon water tank, filled it and tested it for leaks…the shower head which advertised “on/off” switch, well it seems in the fine print, the “off” is really just a dribble so if you have a furnace you won’t lose your adjusted temp…but also makes the pump keep kicking in… so ordered an $10 part that screws into the handle of the shower head and the hose screws into that…should be here today hope it works if not a ball valve will fix it lol. Have fun!

  • Mel when I insulate my next van would I be waisting my time gluing the double silver bubble stuff to the van panels before I insulate?, not bothered about time it will take plus I have a big roll given to me, would doing this cut down on outside noise. Good on you pal, these articles are great and very informative thankyou

  • Hi Mel. Lesson of the day is; when storing screwdriver in back pocket. insert handle end first in pocket. that way blunt end is less painful than sharp end. “three blokes a scaffolding rack and stepladder”(one man & his whippet). They must have been falling over each other. Your normal resourcefullness wins out again!. Great article and job.

  • Awesome vid as usual Mel. What I want to know is.. despite the wind deflectors and the sun visor looking great, how about a review? Tell us what you think of it and whether it was worth purchasing please? I’ve been looking at buying them for my Boxer as the sun has been a killer through the vast expanse of windscreen of late. I may as well have just laid down under a magnifying glass. I pity the poor ants we did that to as kids. Anyway, does it work and keep the heat out or just the sun out of your eyes? Cheers Mel 🙂

  • Fair Play Mel 😎 I tried this one myself but my body shape didn’t allow me to reach over the bonnet like you can 😂😂😂 so I have to wait for a helping hand. Also I got mine second hand and the guy I got it from recommended that I fit it with rivnuts as he had it fitted first with self-tapping screws but after two months it became a bit lose. He later replaced them with rivnuts .they were still tight when he sold it to me 6mts later, He sold it because his wife didn’t like the noise it made when driving. Let’s Un know you’re experience on this . Thanks and take care Mel . Groetjes uit Holland 😎
