The original cast members of the popular TV show “The Brady Bunch” reunited to renovate their childhood home in Studio City, California. The show, which premiered on HGTV, featured the grown-up Brady kids working with show hosts and designers to recreate the iconic property. The house, which had a $1.8 million asking price, ended up with an unlikely buyer – HGTV. The network paid $3.5 million for the renovation, and their motivation quickly became clear when their new limited series “A Very Brady Renovation” began airing.
The renovation involved a star-studded crew that transformed the house seen in the sitcom into an accurate re-creation of the house, inside and out. The show showcases the renovation of the home, which includes the exterior restoration, foyer, and living room. The original cast members of the Brady Bunch work with HGTV hosts to recreate the iconic home from the sitcom.
The renovation wizardry HGTV specializes in makes the house feel more like home to the surviving Brady cast. The show is available to stream on Philo, DIRECTV, or Sling TV. The renovation is a family reunion and fantasy home makeover, showcasing the renovation of the iconic real-life “Brady Bunch” home in Los Angeles.
📹 The Brady Bunch House – Construction Completed! – Long Version – May 23, 24 & June 12, 2019
The real excitement is that HGTV reunited all 6 Brady “kids” for their new show, A Very Brady Renovation. This latest Brady Bunch …
What did HGTV do with the Brady house when it was finished?
HGTV has sold a Los Angeles residence that was the setting for the iconic ’70s sitcom and the 2019 series A Very Brady Renovation. The five-bedroom, five-bathroom house in North Hollywood was sold for $3. 2 million, $2. 3 million less than the $5. 5 million asking price. HGTV originally bought the house for $3. 5 million and spent almost $2 million during the renovations, resulting in a significant loss for the network. The listing agent, Danny Brown, said the property was a one-of-a-kind and was impossible to compitate due to Airbnb rental laws.
The property was valued at $3-$3. 5 million, and there are no intellectual property rights included in the sale. HGTV spent $5. 5 million purchasing and gutting the house, which is why it was listed at $5. 5 million, despite the aspirational list price.
How much did HGTV pay for the Brady house?
The Wall Street Journal reported that a home in Studio City sold for $3. 2 million, a higher price than the cable network had previously listed. HGTV bought the home for $3. 5 million and documented the renovations with specials like A Very Brady Renovation and A Very Brady Renovation: Holiday Edition. Tina Trahan, a fan of the show and the 1995 parody film, bought the home and plans to use it for charitable events. HGTV invested $1. 9 million in the property and added 2, 000 square feet, including a second story.
Who bought the remodeled Brady Bunch house?
A Very Brady Renovation has seen HGTV stars and six actors who played the Brady kids renovate the interiors of the iconic “The Brady Bunch” home. Tina Trahan, married to former HBO chief executive Chris Albrecht, believes the former HGTV network paid too much money for the property in 2018 due to its lack of modern appliances and conveniences. Trahan, who lives in Bel Air and is a fan of the sitcom, paid $3. 2 million for the house in Studio City, Los Angeles, which is about 9% less than HGTV paid in 2018. The renovations aim to preserve the house’s artwork and appeal to a wider audience.
Is A Very Brady Renovation on Hulu?
The television programme “A Very Brady Renovation” is now available to stream on Hulu. However, the prospective purchaser Tina Trahan has no intention of making the iconic television home “livable”. Trahan likened the situation to that of a “life-size dollhouse” and articulated the necessity for a positive, optimistic outlook.
Why did The Brady Bunch end so abruptly?
In a noteworthy turn of events, the actor, who had been performing his role with great proficiency, was removed from the production in a momentous episode of the television series. The series was unexpectedly cancelled shortly thereafter, as it had exceeded the minimum number of episodes required for larger distribution. Notwithstanding the series’ unexpected conclusion, the actors established a blended family unit, forging a distinctive bond.
Did they actually film in the Brady Bunch House?
The Brady Bunch TV series and movie’s interior shots were shot on a set, with the Studio City home used only for exterior shots, according to Trahan. HGTV’s renovation made the home look identical, but all appliances are decorative and do not function. Trahan revealed that the range, stove, and oven are all non-functional, making it impossible to create anything if desired. The renovation was only used for exterior shots.
Who lives in the original Brady Bunch house?
Art collector and property owner Tina Trahan has purchased a Los Angeles residence from the iconic sitcom The Brady Bunch, which HGTV spent millions renovating over the past five years. Trahan, who bought the house as a piece of art, said she didn’t buy it as a property investment but rather as a piece of art. She didn’t think it was a great investment, as she didn’t want to make money on the art. Instead, she bought the house because she loved the art, not because she wanted to make money on it. Trahan’s story is a testament to the power of art and the importance of not just buying it but also loving it.
Do homeowners get paid on HGTV shows?
HGTV does not pay homeowners to be on Love It or List It, but they now require a $100, 000 renovation budget. Participants are not paid for the paycheck. Other requirements include being willing to move out of their house for the renovation/shoot, being outgoing, fun, and enthusiastic homeowners, and being available for up to seven weekdays of filming. If interested, applicants can start applying for the next season.
Where can I watch Brady house renovations?
The television series A Very Brady Renovation is now available for viewing on the streaming platforms Philo, DIRECTV, and Sling TV. These services offer a variety of live content, including sports, news, and other programs, as well as free streaming on Roku devices.
Did the Brady Bunch house sell for a loss?
The Brady Bunch house in Studio City, California, sold for a loss of $3. 2 million to Tina Trahan, a self-described fan of iconic real estate. The house, which went on the market in May for $5. 5 million, was sold to a self-described fan with no intention of living there. Trahan, along with her husband Chris Albrecht, is a collector of iconic real estate, having been buying up floors of Stone Manor, a 125-year-old lakefront property in Wisconsin. Trahan plans to use the home for charity and fundraising events.

The famous home of Mike, Carol, Marcia, Jan, Cindy, Greg, Peter, Bobby, Alice the housekeeper and Tiger the dog is headed to …
Just really heartwarming to see this. The Brady Bunch has been an integral part of American culture and I grew up perusal them. What the city did in renaming the street and declaring it Brady Bunch day – this house is definitely a historic landmark. I look forward to what the Brady children will do in the future. Maybe they can find some dopplegangers of the parents and Alice? Thank you so much HGTV. What an amazing contribution.
What great times, perusal the Brady Bunch after school. Shows like this portrayed togetherness, politeness. It’s so sad shows like can’t exist today. But people today are so violent and disconnected from each other. No cell phones no computer’s. Great days for many that watched shows like the Brady Bunch. Thank You Greg Marsha, Peter, Jan, Bobby, and Cindy plus Mom, Dad and Alice
As amazing it is to see this house renovation – it was equally great to see all six ‘kids’ looking healthy and happy. Without exception they’ve all aged gracefully and still look remarkably younger than their ages. And it’s cool they had a hand in helping with the actual renovation! perusal Brady Bunch as a kid was a big part of this 58yr-olds childhood – fond memories. Kudos to everyone for a job well done!
wow,i want to move in lol, i grew up perusal the bradys, every friday night at 8 pm cause the era i grew up in 70s my bedtime was 9 unless i had permission to stay up. well im 59 now and still watch bradys on my terms lol i have whole series in a box covered in green shag carpet,my bedroom had purple shag carpeting, and have all movies . bradys is my escape from reality just as Gilligans island which i watch also. bless you guys for doing this 💚💜💚💜
They did a wonderful job recreating such an inconic retro staple of American History! TBB was a huge 📺 staple during my childhood. So nice to see all the Brady kids together again. I am totally bummed we didn’t make it to the Brady house while visiting CA celebrating my BDay a few years back. 😒 Will definitely get there during my next trip!
Just amazing! Loved that show as a kid. I remember the episode where Peter was a Girl Scout, forget what they call it then. Sunshine girls or something….And he was selling cookies door to door. Guy answered door and said to Peter, “I hate the cookies but kid you got guts to do what you are doing, so I’ll buy a box”!🤣👍
When the Brady bunch aired on TV I was only 2 years old and through the years my older brother Peter and my older sister Ana they would put me right in front of the TV with our mother in the north side of Chicago watch the Brady bunch every week I love that show and I’m very happy that HG TV bought the home and made it a true reality Brady bunch home
Thank you for compiling this. The Brady Bunch was such a big part of my upbringing. This neighbourhood was so similar to where I grew up. The problem is that HGTV and GMA, etc are not shown in Australia so it was hard for me to find the renovation show. I hope they do make one final special in the house. Just for closure. A dramatic special with the Brady kids as they are, all grown up and moving on.
There were a few houses that seemed like a character in their respective shows. The ones that come to mind are Bonanza, LHOP, the Waltons, and the Brady Bunch. I always thought the Brady Bunch house was super rich and fancy. I remember being at my cousins’ and perusal TV after school it was always Gilligan’s Island and The Brady Bunch. We watched it so much that we had all of the episodes memorized. This was when there were only 3 -5 websites depending on if the antenna had been messed up by the wind.
It is great that the Brady bunch will never be forgotten. This house will be saved for many years to come. Many of us would of like to have a family and a house like the Brady bunch. 50 great years and more to come. All that is needed are robotic humanoids that mimic the real Brady bunch cast members or holograms of the Brady bunch cast members and any vistor will believe they are part of living media history.
That location at 11222 Dilling Street intersects with Klump Ave, just to the west and almost directly across from the house. Klump was the first street I lived on… as an infant! CBS Radford Studios is about 3K’ directly west, where my dad was working on “Get Smart” when the BB was in production at Paramount, where he later worked as a Key Grip on “TaxI” with Danny Devito & would spar with Tony Danza during breaks.
Crazy classic show but wow! In the mid 70’s they would pump and pump RERUNS of everything in those days. We only had like 6 websites and you might get pissed getting a UHF signal kicking the tv a few times. This show did get more popular like some fine wine that you would respect in the early 80’s. Yup that was when I loved this show way after it was off the air. I never had known it was that old then at 6 years old!
Thank you Classic TV & More!! I didn’t know about this show until I came across this article! I will watch the renovation happen and happily drift back into time when things were so much more laid back and everyone was not in such a hurry or with their noses stuck in a phone. This show was one of several that I literally could not get enough off. And I was so in love with Greg Brady as all the girls were, lol. Loved this article so much!! Brings back wonderful memories of the show. My favorite though was when the family went to Hawaii, lol. Anyone else? What was your favorite episode or season?
I will still watch this show today with memories- my wife says it’s too corny. Coming from a broken and poorer home, I still wonder what it would have been like to have a complete family. I liked the morals they had. I would wish for it when I was young. But it could have been worse I guess. I had the biggest crush on the beautiful Marsha.
During all this reno I wish the actors would have been called their Brady names! When I see them now, I call them their actor names. Sorry, that’s who I see. You all look great. I gotta say I had a double take with Marsha! She just looks her young self as she did and quite the bubbly same, too, same optimistic tone. Thank you all for the fun reno time this last month! P.S. Also, Appreciation to the 6 actors for being good sports and going along with all this fun tadoo even if they did get paid! (I don’t know or care)! I miss Carol and Alice!
Really top notch except for ONE thing, those covers of the day beds in the family room just aren’t right! I used to have bedspreads which were similar and they were much more of a woven, rough-type fabric, popular in the 70s. But really everything else is so wonderful! The renovation shows, and the ‘Behind’ shows, made me cry more than once. I just don’t know when I’ve enjoyed a TV show more!
Even perusal that show as a kid, my favorite part was always when they showed those stairs. Those floating stairs like that are so badass and modern looking!! Wasn’t the dad supposed to be like some kind of architect or something? That would have been cool in one of the episodes he could have told a story to the kids about how he designed the house and how the builder tried to talk him out of the stairs, saying it can’t be done. But say kids, it just goes to show you what you can accomplish if you just persevere and stick to your dreams, and don’t give up. Or some kind of fatherly advice like that. Hahahahaha
On the market for $1.8 and sold for $3.5MM? Something tells me that the sellers saw HGTV coming. In my hometown, this house would sell for about $60K. Small rural town prices. But, where I live now, probably $270K. Talk about gouging! I did mention on another article that it seemed impossible to fit the interior into the exterior shell. Never thought about them digging down, which actually makes sense since on the set, you do step down from the foyer into the living room. I actually saw every episode’s first run as a kid. Suffice it to say, I’m old. Brings back memories of a simpler time when entertainment didn’t depend on profanity, sex and constant violence. Men were men and women were damn glad of it. The show went on the air the same year America set foot on the moon. Back then, astronauts, soldiers, police and firemen were rock stars. Today, it’s all about Hollywood and fake “reality shows”. I’d go back in a second and wouldn’t miss my cell phone one bit. We got by just fine without the evils of today. I’m wondering if this is going to set off a TV home renovation trend. What’s famous/iconic TV home is next? Just hope the cost to buy the exteriors doesn’t go up.
I loved the renovation shows. Also, I really did meet Barry Williams (Greg) when I was 9. I called him by his REAL name not the character’s name as would have the other cast members, i would have called them by their real names (if I knew them) I would call the actors/actress from any show by their real names (if I knew what they were and how to pronounce them).
This is disgusting. LA has a growing homeless population, expected to increase BY 86% IN THE NEXT FOUR YEARS, and the city can’t even provide enough containers to help these folks keep their belongings safe. Yet y’all can come up with 3.5 MILLION DOLLARS to renovate a tract home from a television show that was cancelled decades ago. This is what is wrong with America.
yes. I. Love. The BRADY. BUNCH Was my. All time. Favorite. Show to run home after getting off the school bus. To watch the. Show !!! Even today. Seems very hard to watch. All. The. Full shows. Today. It’s fun to see this HOWEVER, it would’ve been A LOT better with a person NARRATING rather than subtitles!!! I’m sorry but I cant watch this! Trying to look at the “pictures”/VIDEO and trying to read the lame text is no fun at all!!!!!!!! I find myself reading the subtitles and I totally MISS seeing any of the actual article!!!!
I remember the first time perusal the show after school in the 80’s. And of course, we all wished we lived in that house. I’m 52 and I still watch reruns now that are currently on MeTv 😂 i knew HGTV had purchased the house and was going to be doing renovations but I never ended up by perusal the episodes. But I made sure to catch the Holiday Special when it came out. I love Christmas and I still have it on my PVR 😂 It was fun and cute to watch at the same time. I did shed a tear when Barry made the toast at the dinner table about Robert Reed, Anne B Davis and Florence Henderson, and what Maureen commented. My question is, i wonder how they feel about not being able to shed their Brady roles by fans?
2020 . Mike is remains the doctor he was since hi young adult days . He see’s that a development company wants to once again pave a highway right through their old neighborhood . But this time they are unsuccessful. So their kids, now in their 30’s surprise them with a trip to Kings Park . Mike retires . But Bobby is sick ….. terminally . He doesn’t know how to tell his kids, and the Brady Clan . Cindy know’s something is wrong, ( Take it away )
After school daily re runs created another iconic future for a show that only ran 3 seasons and was cancelled. Kids perusal this show created a fan base and demand for a movie, tv, merchandisng monster with actors names who became known throughout the world. A cultural monster that is rivaled by only a handful of entertainment creations….Star Trek.
What is to be done with the home now that it’s remodeled? Are they selling it? I actually would’ve loved to see it renovated but with today’s updates for a future home buyer that would appreciate the history of the home. I don’t think the neighborhood would want traffic coming through just to see the home after they’ve remodeled it.
I am 60. I absolutely loved this show. I watched the re-runs as I grew up 100s of times. The best night on TV when I was little was Fridays. Brady Bunch and 7 p.m. Partridge Family at 8 p.m. and, Then Night Stalker at 9 p.m. On Friday nights, I could stay up until 10 so it was perfect. I loved all of these characters.
Not to freak anyone out but most people under 30 never seen Brady Bunch. Just like anyone under 50 doesn’t know what Family Affair is. The internet, streaming and a million websites did away with rerun syndication we all grew up perusal. Even two 12 year olds might not share the same touch stone pop culture references as one watched Nickelodeon and the other Disney.
I lived in and around the San Fernando Valley for many years and used to think that the actual Brady house was somewhere near Northridge or Chatsworth, not finding out until I moved away that it was located in Studio City, just a couple miles from where I lived. And surreal is definitely the word I’d use to describe the renovation.
This looks like your average Encino upper middle class area where the house looks smallish in the front but it’s actually this big ass sprawling house where there were 9 rooms designed and constructed by a team leader that dropped acid along with their crew…and you get crazy walls that are covered like a poor persons slate rock mixed design with bright orange carpeting and this enormous reception area from the front door into the living room took 3 minutes to walk and each famous-ish guest star did this spotlight…you could tell it was a studio because none of the rooms had ceilings and each was were like skyscraper high…and the awkward body malformation of carol and mike in bed never growing their family because he had a vasectomy (yeah right and his ass had a lot of plastic surgery like an extreme new york socialite gets the works with a face lift pulled tight as hell they often color their hair a shade or two darker because how do you explain non-asian decent when your eyes show the hallmarks of the people from the land of the rising sun….he said, “THIS ISN’T WORKING FOR ME” like Faye Dunaway diva screech so they put that weird carol brady chopped up hairdo like a poofed up top with a crazy wedge that hung down her neck so they brought in jeff stryker an alternative assistant that the other cast weren’t fond of his treatments so the sole focus was keeping mike brady calm with stryker’s extremely deep lower cavity screeched and stuffed to where mike felt full of his dixhead self.
@jaison3905 1 minute ago (edited) Shows like this give kids who are growing up in disfunctional families a glimpse of what their life could be if they just hold on. Ultimately, when you grow up you have the power to create the family you want. If you make the right decisions, choose the right people, you can create any life you want. This show taught me how to create the life I wanted. It showed me the proper way to behave, how to pick friends, what a good relationship looks like, even how to be a better parent. I feel bad that kids don’t have a show like this as a role model today. Their awful family is reflected in the awful families on tv as well. Not good for society as a whole.
Grew up perusal the Brady binch I cried. It brought back an Era in my life that was so great and so simple when kids actually went outside and played, life wasn’t as complicated. Wish we could go back and show people what it was like. Hope I can save enough money to see it in person thank you for making this I truly loved it.
every one looks so excited except EVE .. shes like get me the hell out of here this is nonsense …. never ion anything ive ever seen Brady related has she EVER look excited or grateful for the show unlike the rest of the cast,, only one of the cast who ever looks or act excited or realizes what the show has done for them has been Barry William and Maureen McCormick the rest especially EVE PLUM are meh .. big deal or get me the hell out of here look…. also out of all of them how is it that Christopher Knight (Peter Brady ) looks the youngest out of all of them,…ROFL 🤣 🤣
I saw the whole entire construction taking place in real time! Man was it ever unique. I certainly wouldn’t wanna be in that house. Too many things that are really old & way out of date. The colours are just too much too. But it was surprising how much they got things looking as close to the original colours & fabrics etc. unbelievably job!
Read an article of the current now we talking about how can’t live in the house going to use it for events I’m like that’s bogus . A big family can and actually people renovate go back to time periods .. trust this some go back to 200 years some to 100 years, some 1900, some, 50’s, some, 70’s .. Love this reminder when I was a child good days carefree days, parents and children weren’t so afraid to walk down your street, less stress in the world for families
Dad was a building designer, in a modern upgrade, i would expect anything when one enters a mansion-virgin, i went to a home in Atlanta to fix a door, he had a waterfall completed by palm trees, and free-run parrots., we sat at the edge of his private paradise, /i urinated there, too. / i bring peace, love, and teach the outcome of acceptance for all, at all times, great article, thank you./Southern White Dove/ almost dead in Shreveport, Louisiana, need 1- kidney, 0- negative blood type, God bless us aa, amen.
I remember perusal this show as a kid back in ‘71 when my mom and dad got into domestic dispute thus mom getting her ass beat. Then my dad picked up that big Zenith console TV and hurled it through the living room picture window out into the front lawn! I didn’t get to finish perusal that Brady Bunch Episode.
What’s funny to me about all of this is that all this hooplah and work is a result of when people make a TV show, they are not careful to go pick an outside view of a house that really matches the set. This is probably true of pretty much every TV show I’ve ever watched. Family matters was one of the most glaringly obvious ones because the outside of the house and the set literally were two different layouts entirely.
It’s for sale now at 5.5 million. After spending all that time and money re-creating the set, my fear is that an investor will buy it and turn it into a regular house. Because it is in a really nice neighborhood. No one is gonna want to live in that house the way it is now. I live in the L.A. area, and I’ve been by it recently. It still looks the same as it did in the sixties and seventies.
It’s interesting to me when I saw that they didn’t get the groovy fabric on Tiger’s doghouse as close as they might have by maybe fabric painting a piece! I contacted the show during the process of the renovations to let them know about a plastic Christmas bell I had just like the one in season one’s episode that hung on the bottom of the banister but didn’t hear back! Ah well!
There’s one GIGANTIC problem. The Bradys completely renovated the house in the mid 1980s. Superfans of the TV show would know that the original house (built circa 1959) was early postmodern, but received a huge re-styling 25+ years later. Gone was all the brown wood, the kitchen was completely updated and they even installed a glass-block wall-feature near the staircase. Even the furniture & lamps were replaced with mid 80s pastel colored furnishings (except for the iconic chest of drawers below the staircase). The Bradys themselves moved on from the original styling, shouldn’t we?
So they took a picture of that house because it represented what a normal, typical, family of 8 would live in, back in the 70s. In reality, that house would have barely been big enough, and even when not a famous house, would cost you approximately 1.5 million dollars. Just a tad outside the budget of today’s normal family… of 8. And I don’t know about you, but who had a live-in maid, housekeeper, cook to take care of 6 kids? Mr. and Mrs. Brady were all on their second marriages… the divorces alone would have bankrupted them. Despite the fact they opted for fake grass and cannibalizing the family dog for Alice’s special ‘El Tigre Meatloaf Surprise’, it apparently had a real ‘bite’ to it… woof!
