Michelle Obama has praised interior designer Michael S. Smith for making the White House feel like a home for herself and her family during President Obama’s time. The White House’s private quarters are worldly and relaxed, with each set costing thousands of dollars. The former First Lady worked with Michael S. Smith and Pickard China of Antioch, Illinois, to design and manufacture a set. In his book Designing History, Michael S. Smith describes what it was like decorating the Obama White House.
Stock, an internationally renowned decorator, was appointed by President Barack Obama to the Committee for the Preservation of the White House from 2008-2016 and is responsible for the 2010 makeover of the Oval Office. In the foreword for Michael S. Smith’s book, “Designing History, the Extraordinary”, Michelle Obama discusses what makes a house a home.
Stock is known for his work on the Obama White House, which offers a behind-the-scenes look at decorating the residence. The former president’s wife, Michelle Obama, provides the foreword to this insider’s look at interior designer Michael S. Smith’s decoration of the White House.
In summary, Michael S. Smith, the “Decorator-in-Chief” for President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama, has been praised for his work on the White House.

📹 White House China Service Revealed by First Lady Michelle Obama
The new Obama State China Service is here and we have exclusive details from First Lady Michelle Obama about the historic …
I’ve visited the White House 8 times, each visit just as thrilling as the last. I never was able to visit while the Obama family lived there. I wished I had, especially since our beautiful home has been enclosed in ugly stockade fence and for the first time, looks like an unwelcome place. Hopefully soon, I might be able to visit again, when a true president of the people once again lives there.
As an presidential history buff, I am shocked that it took me nearly 7 years to find this incredible article. It is so much more than a tour of the most famous house in the world. It is a living record of the 44th President and First Lady’s impressions about what this house means to them and to the country as a whole while they were in office. For that, thank you for making this article!
A great American I am proud even today to have called him my President. President Obama was kind and cared about all the American people, and how America looked to all the other countries looking in. President Obama served the office with dignity and intelligence, and heart. Thank you to President Obama, Michelle, and their family for all they did for America.
Mr. & Mrs.Obama, I am not an American, but I really and truly admired you and your family humility, greatness, amazing speeches, brilliance, intelligent, interllect, generosity, love for country, love for people and the less fortunate, caring human being, God blesses you, guide and guard you all continually amen.
This President and First Lady brought a sense of unity, warmth, humanity, confidence, and hope to our country. I miss them, the country misses them. He was a President of the people and for the people and by a vast majority of the people. “A change is gonna come” because we cannot withstand four more years of what we have endured for the past three and a half years.
come back obama..LOL the people still need your wisdom and a sight to reminds us that this country can get back on its feet. I remember perusal 2009 inauguration it was amazing to see someone wonderful and bright hold this presidency position and kept its promise of keeping the country together. thank you.
wow such a wonderful creative article of the 360 of inside and outside the white house. And for the President and First lady to take time out of their day to help with this that is so nice of them. I hope one day to visit the White House to tour it. (Sorry if i cant spell correctly i seem to talk it better then typing it).
Tremendous Tour of the Grand Majesty and Symbol of Power…..I remember I had a vivid memory of seeing President Ronald Reagan through the window of my Mind. President Barak Obama is my most favourite President, even When he was running for his first term I was praying for his Win. Since my First School, a desire to visit and study in USA born inside my tiny poor heart but our resources weren’t much to afford it, my father was a famer and had a long family to support and take care of; Visiting USA was something I couldn’t even dreamt of, all my life, Thanks to the YouTube for letting the people like me to peep inside the world just by laying down here in our Dens. I’m Just 4 years away to make a 50, these articles are good source of taking me from place to place. Thanks for reading me till end, Stay Blessed, With love, From a remote town of South Punjab, Pakistan,
Thank you Brock and Michelle Obama for your service! And thank you President Obama for the insightful tour of the White House. You and Michelle brought so much dignity and respect to the American people. The next person to bring that level of intelligence dignity and respect and honor back to the White House I hope it will be mayor Pete! Thanks again for sharing your past family home. Your girls will have such wonderful memories…
I have written to the Obama’s twice and received letters of great insight, encouragement, compassion and most of all true interest in the concerns of which I wrote. To me every time either of them speak their love and true passion for the people of this nation shine through. I had no interest in visiting the White House during our visit to Washington DC because of Trump. I sincerely hope to return again to visit and to spend more time in our nation’s capital. And hopefully visit this amazing house. Thank you President and Mrs. Obama for being one of the very best first families our Nation has ever had. You brought both beauty, honor, integrity and intelligence to us. I sincerely do miss them..
I feel so dumb😅 I was hurting my neck and hands trying to move the phone around to see the whole rooms. At some point i even stood up and was turning my whole body around! It was after 15 minutes into the article that i realized you could just use your fingers on the screen to do a full 360 and see everything without moving 😂🤦🏾♂️

My father and his were born in Washington DC, I in MD. I’ve done many a tour in DC but was never in the White House. This was such a treat to see. It was so well done. I loved it! I had just watched White House Down and then googled in about virtual tours of the White House when this one came up. Thanks so much for making it and sharing it. I like how your attitude showed it was the people’s house. One of the greats (grandfather) on my father’s father’s side of the family helped to build the Washington Monument. Not sure how I missed getting to go in the White House but thanks again for this tour! God Bless you!!
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.
A big thank you for this journey into the history of the People’s House I am very proud and my gratitude to you… I’m honored to call you my president.. I’m from France.. Mr. President, your portrait and that of Pastor King and Mother Teresa are a credit in my house. I admire Michelle.. Your goodness of soul and your investment in a greatness found in the hearts of your citizens are overwhelming. with humility me from France.. these few words thank you My President..
Finally a tv in 22:24 if I was their with my snack I would be wondering around looking for the tv and security, the president and the media would be perusal me find the tv in every room, and when I found it I ate all my snack and to find the kitchen, forgot where the kitchen was, when I found it I forgot where the tv was.
There’s a sequel coming up for this article… “…This is the Red Room. But a lot of people don’t know that this is called Red Room because… you know… the walls are red. Most people don’t know that… They say Green Room is better… But I’d say Red Room is the best… Lot of people were here earlier… I mean, in history… so many good people… fine people. They had a lot of events.., lot of receptions, so many parties… good ones… This is where I usually have my morning chicken bucket with diet coke and call Fox and Friends… so many friends… so many memories…”
God TheFather’s Independence Day July 4, 2020 · Share on FacebookTweet about this on Twitter Once again, I (Maureen) see a Great Flame that I have come to know as the Heart of God the Father. He says: “Children, today, this nation* celebrates Independence Day. The independence you celebrate is not lawlessness. Those who seek to exist outside of civil law, exist outside of My Commandments. Your nation was founded by those** who sought the right to worship as they chose. They chose to worship Me not agnosticism. They did not make up their own laws or embrace an independence which trampled the rights of anyone else.” “No one can change the Truth between good and evil. If you try to live your own ‘truth’ apart from My Commandments, you are living a lie. You must respect civil authority and not condemn all authority because of the actions of one or two persons. My Will for your nation this day is your unity in the Truth of My Commandments. Oh, how I long for this and would celebrate with any nation which would accomplish this goal! Pray for this. Independence from the Truth is evil.” Read Philippians 2:1-5+ So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any incentive of love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy, complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind. Do nothing from selfishness or conceit, but in humility count others better than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.
As I watch this and realize how awful our country is now compared to what it was then. It amazes me how fast we went from a respectable thoughtful proud country in the world, to the worst, laughable, disgraceful, racist, prejudice country. We have a choice in November to either sit back and do nothing or get out there and vote and get our country back and our respect. For those 45th supporters that want to say that he made the economy better you better start looking up your facts. Fact one we were at 4.7 percent unemployed we are only before the Coronavirus at 3.8% that is not even 1% raise in unemployment. Fact 2 grocery prices have gone up gas prices have gone up. Our pay did not go up the average American did not get the tax cut but the one percent of the rich did. The 45th did not bring any new jobs into America or bring any old jobs back to America as a matter of fact there has been several companies that is closed down and gone overseas. Also because the mishandling of this pandemic we have closing. Think and do your research Before You cast that vote for the worst person that has ever been president. If you are a republican please do not vote for your party do not vote for the 45th that is ruining this country.
I’m a Republican but recognize that Obama was our last reputable president with high intelligence and has class. Doesn’t mean I agree with his policies but I stand by what I said none the less. Case and point, “There’s no question that Joe Biden will go down as the finest Vice President in American history.” Not True, at all! However, I believe he truly thinks that. In addition, he was promoting Biden for President. This was a great article and done well.
Here we have style over substance. Obama and his acolytes focused way too much on style when the American people were starved for substance. Our 45th President, Donald J. Trump, gave emphasis on substance and did little by way of style. Between the two (Obama and Trump), it was Trump’s policies that made the prosperity of the American people not only succeed but thrive. Mr. Trump was the best president of my lifetime, and he was the only president in my lifetime who never got the US into any ‘new’ wars.
Did not, and would not have voted for you. I don’t agree with most of what you did while you were in office. I do however, thank you Mr. President for this tour of the “people’s house”. It was very interesting, and I saw more of the White House here than any other article that I’ve watched. Thanks to you and Mrs. Michelle (the First Lady) for doing this. I appreciate it very much.
That was sr.not anymore and hope to God it will be that way again, the people that would talk bad about you before would like to have you and your family back now, well some because you still have some that think the Jack ass that’s in the people’s house now is the best and the coming of Jesus Christ. But the man is so Evil not even hell want him. may God continue to bless you and your family and thank you for your service in the people’s house!! ✌️♥️🙏
The furniture and trimmings should be more modern and help bring emphasis on the exterior of the house i.e. scalloped windows scalloped doors and the furniture should be tasteful reflection as well. The stripes on the wall just looks awful it needs the right colour scheme this just looks put together in a hurry the peoples house should reflect the changing times more plants and kids artwork a fountain in the lobby area that people will continue to talk about – not just the poorly designed oval office – just saying – imagine being the president and taking the school kids around to see the white house – its stuffy and kids are told their leaders work there – they finish the tour; if there was a large marble gold and turquoise fountain taller than the kids with hand done glass marble bottom mosaics their minds would be blown and they would remember that place – Kids notice the little things and aren’t afraid to speak their mind – Which is a quality I think we adults should admire – not so much telling them right from wrong unless its for their own safety but anyways – maybe in the future it can be as beautiful as it is on the outside as it is on the inside type of thing.
I miss the Obamas. I respect that other people do not. But the day that Barack Obama was elected was the singularly most important day of my life. It was the day that I held my infant Black son in my arms and cried as I watched him make his acceptance speech. I felt so grateful that my little boy would grow up in a world where he would believe that he could one day because the President of the United States because he would never remember a time that we didn’t have one. My parents told my siblings and I that we could grow up and become the President but we all knew it wasn’t true. And today after four of the hardest years we have gone through we will soon see a Black woman belonging in that space. I have never been a big fan of Kamala Harris, but she will also make a huge mark in someone’s life by being there. Representation is so important to little boys and girls of color. I am so proud to have lived during this time. A time that will be written about in history books with people who look like me that don’t involve trauma and suffering. Children in the future will grow up knowing that each of them can make a difference. That they can choose books over sports and still become someone important to society.
I’m not going to read through the comments on this. I’m sure there are plenty of hateful remarks scattered all throughout the comments. I just wanted to see the White House and learn about our great country through the eyes of one of its past leaders. One day maybe, just maybe with a little grace and a little humbleness, we can look at all of our past leaders and look for what made them admired by some of our fellow American brothers and sisters, and not look for their shortcomings, and once again maybe, just maybe for one small moment we can forget about our own political leanings and beliefs and try to remember just how lucky we are to call ourselves Americans. God bless you America, we need all the blessings we can get.
The Peoples House- YES! The Obamas have class, elegance, intelligence and truly care for the American People, not their egos or pocketbook! – God bless them for sharing their temporary home with the rest of us. And taking the time to explain all the details. I miss them so much! Now the Biden’s ( THANK GOD! ) will be gracing this special and important, beautiful home ( not the ‘ dump ‘ that fascist 45 said ) and turning our country back into the respectful leader it once was!
This article just shows how much our country needs to make a very quick 180…… We can make one 2016 mistake, let’s not make another one in 2020, and bring back the dignity and respect that THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA deserves. From the office, to Air Force One, to Marine One, we need this type of leadership to show the world what Democracy is all about, and the respect that all Democracies deserve!
