I know this article is a year old but the comparsions were very good. I noticed that when you were spraying the coats weren’t consistant. In other words it needed more overlap and instead of spraying here to there, top then bottom next time go right to l;eft, overlap when going back left to right. These little cans don’t have a real good nozzle to perform like a paint gun. I liked the Behr the best. Thank you for the article.
Nice article, so let me get this straight, obviously giving it a light sanding goes without saying, however since you had them all in your hands, or nails I should say, you are picking only one, only one primer, witch will it be? and your are then picking only one paint brand, witch will it be? Great article awesome just what I needed . I have a question some one printed my cabinets with the 2x spray paint and not it doesn’t seem like it dry well because it’s still sticky and when you scratch it paint comes right off .. keep in mind no primer was used and a very very light sanding was done should I sand them and redo the job ?
Behr thankfully has since expanded their colour palette to about 45 colours, and have both satin and gloss finishes. But yes, wood filling, flat-sanding everything would probably have made the results far more difficult to discern. I think the Behr and the Rustoleum enamel ones offered the best black overall.

Rustoleum protective enamel for the win. From perusal the scratch test, the rust oleum protective enamel with bin shellac didn’t scratch at all but I can literally see the scratches with the Behr paint. I’ve used Behr paint and it didn’t hold up as well as the Rustoleum 2x. Rustoleum 2x doesn’t even come close to Rustoleum protective enamel.
Thank you for your excellent scientific approach. Nicely done. I always scuff sand and prime. The takeaway for me was there is no difference worth worrying about between the Krylon or Rustoleum products from the standpoint of wear. That being said, color hue preference is all I need to consider between those two products. Thanks again.
