Cassie Nicholas, the winner of the first season of BBC One’s “Interior Design Masters”, started her own studio in 2019 after receiving requests to design homes. She has been actively working in both residential and commercial sectors.

Wasted 7 hours of my life, would’ve been another hour wasted but I didn’t even watch the last episode. After Nicki left, I was shocked but still rooting for Ju. After she left and it came down to Frank and Cassie, I couldn’t even be bothered. Frank at least showed growth in working with others, but Cassie had the worst, most impractical designs, didn’t listen to the clients, and was horrible to work with. What a waste of a good show! (side note: I’d totally watch a spin-off where Nicki and Ju remodel people’s homes for them or something!!)
Was waiting to hear frank’s name during the announcement of the winner… hearing cassie’s name blindsided me so much i rushed here to see if anyone else agreed…. Frank did a much better job in the finale (in my opinion..) Cassie’s client had to say that they had to get used to the bedrooms color…. to me that sounded like sugar coating and how they didn’t really want to say they didn’t like it on tv or in front of her… but who nows maybe they find coral pink “relaxing” now…
If cassie designs my house, I’ll be so devastated. She makes all her room likes like a room that Annabelle the doll will come visit. Frank was the winner to me. He made every room look so rich and luxurious, his colors were always so effortlessly beautiful. He always listened to his clients. Cassie do not care about her clients at all!!! All she cared about was bringing her horror looking haunted mirrors and curtains to the rooms. She do not care about the clients. I would hire Frank as my designer. Even though he lost, the owners must be so happy to keep his designs. I bet Cassie’s owners had to repaint the wall and had to replace those ugly haunted looking chairs, curtains and mirrors. Those mirror do not make anyone look beautiful, they just look like a ghost is gonna pop up anytime!
Came here to say I’m so shook that Cassie won. I don’t even know how she made it to the semi-finals. Definitely should have been Kyle, Nikki, Ju and Frank in the end with it coming down to Nikki/Frank and Ju battling it out. Cassie was difficult to work with and always put her own wants before the clients. At least Nikki, Ju and Frank had some character development throughout the show and tried to work on their problem areas.
All I know is that when the show started, I wanted Ju to leave immediately. But as the show ends, I never knew how much I needed her back. The judge, Michelle seems to always want to see who made the biggest progress, and to me, Ju did the most. She went from her design traits to completely go in the opposite direction. Cassie was always experimenting on the go and for her, it was always hoping that they like it or not. There was no taste at all. Nikki and Ju deserved to be in the finals. Sad the judge didn’t judge properly on the overall and the potentiality. Sigh.
Out of the two Frank should have won. Out of the last four Nikki, Ju, or Frank should have been in the finale. Not Cassie she was always never listening fully to the client at least Frank tried to put aside his own style to make the clients happy. Also let’s be honest Frank was a little pushy at the beginning but we saw that he grew over time. Also why did they send the older lady home so early?? Cassie and the other girl with the neon room should have went home. I just finished perusal this and bloody hell, why did Cassie won???? I even thought she’s the first person to go 😆. Frank is not that bad, but i dont like his attitude. Nikki and Ju should have won the finals. I really saw their development from the first competition. They are able to adapt and tone down a bit. I just feel unsatisfied. If there’s only a thumbs down for Netflix 😬 This competition is crap 😂
This was such a crap ending and everyone knows this!!!! Frank didn’t win not because his designs but because nobody liked him!! He had the BEST taste than anyone in this freaking show and the only reason why he lost is because he wasn’t a team player. So what?? That doesnt mean anything because Frank has good taste. That other girl w black hair SUCKS and i was suprised they kept her in the final round and not Ju. I would’ve LOVED to see that finale because either way i liked both of their design. Frank grew so much as a person and nobody in that stupid team could realize that because they had resent over him. Such a BAISED decision of all. I am so disappointed with the ending, the definitely need to have more ‘permanent’ judges on the panel since it seemed like the opinions of the extra judges did not really matter much. I was so surprised that Cassie wasn’t eliminated with that hotel room she designed. It was weird, did not fulfil the brief, impractical and out of place yet Trish left. Cassie had a very specific style and she quite literally pushed it everywhere. I did not like the final home she designed AT ALL. It seemed like all the rooms belonged to different houses. In the salon she designed the owner clearly says they do not like green yet she gives them a weird green colour all over. It worked in the space but considering the client said no she really shouldn’t have pushed it so much. I felt like Ju was always absolutely amazing. She was creative and grew alot throughout the show. She definitely deserved to be in the finals. And Frank was also great throughout the show. Whether you like his attitude or not, he had a great sense of style and was mostly able to adapt to the clients needs. Very disappointing end!
While I don’t know if Trish was the best in the competition, I was shocked when she was eliminated in the second episode. She, at least, would take feedback gladly – and in her previous competition she already showed that she had good style. Don’t know, maybe I just thought she was too sweet to leave so early!
INMYOPINION: In the first place, Frank & Cassie shouldn’t have been the two finalists! I couldn’t see Frank’s signature style at all during the entire competition. He seems to be good at talking to the judges & presents himself as this “super eager learner”. He says words that judges want to hear from an “ideal contestant” (ex:when he was at risk of being eliminated with Nicki, he suddenly starts a speech right before the main judge announces who’s eliminated). On the other hand, Cassie is a pain to work with (unless she’s with Nicki). She’s selfish & never tried to become a team player. Her presence in the team caused the elimination of Kyle. He had so much more skill, sophistication, and good taste, than her. (I was so shocked when they eliminated him & not Frank or Cassie during the vacation house challenge!) During the whole competition, there wasn’t a single moment when we saw Cassie & Frank create spaces that truly made us think: THAT’S BRILLIANT (ex1:when Nicki made that genius storage solution for the yarn shop, ex2:when Ju did the restaurant & the dorm room). JU & NICKI SHOULD HAVE BEEN THE FINALISTS. These two showed real growth and had solid vision as interior designers. We were robbed of what could have been a spectacular final episode.
Both finalists never really did well in any of the challenges throughout the series, they just managed to scrape through by not doing the absolute worst. Maybe the producers need to think of a better format for the show so the contestants can’t just fly under the radar ( honestly do shitty) to get into the finals and potentially win it (Neither Cassie or Frank had any decent designs throughout the whole competition). Xu and Nicky were clear front runners that actually showed versatility and weren’t so stubborn with sticking to their style

I’m shocked that Cassie won. Why did Michelle chose her? Her designs are not polished and didn’t manage to impress me throughout the competition except for the restaurant but that was because she was being paired with Ju. She never listen to her clients like when she knew that the barber hated the colour green but she painted almost the whole place green and the last challenge when the client wanted a neutral color but she painted the whole room pink and even the client said she has to get used to the color. I would be happy if either Nikki, Frank or Ju wining because their designs are more extraordinary, impressive, sophisticated and polished.
let’s face it- cassie only won when she was paired with Ju or Nicki. you can see a whole lot of Nicki in the finale living room(the shelving on the walls) and ju basically won the restaurant redesign for her in the final 4.god damn it should’ve been Ju and Nicki. Frank’s design in the finals was pretty shit tbh.
I too love the design of Frank… and the way he executed the client’s request adding his sense of style. What I think made him lost over Cassy was his statement that he was a sure winner and 100% will getting the contract. This silenced the judges and the moment he went out of the room, he shot dead.
Cassie’s design in the final was not practical for a house for a new born at all, like even though in Frank’s design they could add more chairs near the books, it wasn’t the same case for Cassie, there was literally no storage for the baby. And the bedroom’s colour was just too much for the eye. I was rooting for Nikki, Frank or Kyle, this show was rigged
The judging for this show doesn’t seem right at all. Like, if you screw up in one episode despite being awesome in every other one…you’re out. Also: I hate how Jerome didn’t defend his dark dorm room idea. He was on point about students wanting a darker atmosphere when coming back (we all know partying). Instead he strangely talks about not pushing for more colours…..his concept didn’t cater to colours
Geez this is so frustrating to watch………. Cassie should’ve been gone after that bloody orange hotel room that no way relates to chocolate or even a commercial hotel room. AND HOW IS JU NOT IN THE FINAL? She’s made so much progress it honestly surprised me. Should’ve been Ju vs Nikki/frank/kyle!! PS given that Kyle was so young I honestly believe he has a super bright future!!

Guys, come on! Ever since day 1 we can see that the judges are looking for someone unique! We can say everything about Cassie’s style, but we can not say that she’s a random woman making predictable designs. Everything she did in the show we have never seen in any magazines, movies or even on Pinterest. Her trajectory at the show was very personal, trying to understand how to reconcile her taste with the client’s brefing. In some episodes she wasn’t that well, but she was always unique. Let’s remember Michelle and Matthew’s first thought of her design in the model house: that could be the cover of any magazine.
I hope these people keep a competent judge next time if they want to keep their viewers. I’m no design expert but Cassie’s Hotel Chocolate room was a complete disaster and Michelle had the audacity to send anyone but Cassie home. Ju was the winner for me. And clearly, even though Cassie won, people can spot the ‘shitty’! Y’all basically got all attention garnered to Cassie being a pathetic designer by making her win.
Like every other of such series before, no matter what: 1. There is always one person in it that is either too chubby or too old or both. It is the alibi-chubby, that is always gone in volume 3 or 4, staying long enough to make audience think: oh this is not all about b’ful, skinny youngsters, it could even be me. But of course no chance to win. 2. There is always a full-of-himself, vein, arrogant guy, he will stay a bit longer, but will be gone before semi-final, because nobody likes him really, his only job is rub the others up. 3. The winner is always the one you would never have thought! The one that is weird, chaotic and too bold, too outlandish, BUT also funny, intriguing, sexy or excentric (or all of it). And the decent, but boring one is only second in line. The concept is clear. And it’s always the same. It’s fake.
When the contestants try to follow the brief, Michelle says she wants to see their signature style. When they do their signature style, she says they have to follow the brief. 😂😂😂 Nicki and Ju work together. I really liked it when Ju said Nicki makes makes her more confident, and she tones her down. ❤

Brits and Americans have different interior design sensibilities. From what I’ve seen in this show on Netflix, it seems that they are stuck in the 1950s and sometimes in centuries past. It’s a little bit like towns people meet a dated palace in some cases. Having said that there’re 2 contestants that I think have a good listening ear and understand the challenges. If I were to rate from 1 to 5 stars I’d give it a ⭐️⭐️. I have been to England and have seen how some people live and it is shocking for us Americans. It looks like the last time they updated those homes was during the Industrial revolution. And, you too have horrible slumlords there.
Just perusal it now on Netflix, good show, the judging is questionable though, the finalists weren’t the best ones, just people that skated through the competition behind someone else’s decisions or being average in most challenges, I still can’t believe that Nicki or Ju weren’t in the final, clearly the best ones.
BULLSHIT ENDING. Here’s the puzzling part — During the finale’s judging, the judges commented on Cassie’s lack of understanding and consideration towards the arrival of the homeowner’s baby by not creating enough storage or activity spaces at the living room. Cassie had only 1 pathetic cupboard for that huge colourless space.They even asked her on the couch if she had given “other considerations to this imminent baby to the other parts of the apartment” and she replied with a blank face. BUT….at the end of the show, the same judge commented that Cassie won because she “has a great eye” & “got the ability to get inside the head of the client”. SO CONTRADICTING.
Sack the presenter please. When you have all the information and make decisions based on none of it. Episode 6, the 2 girls where going to move the tv and sofa not to face the view, but couldn’t because it was too complex and time consuming. Yet the judges gave them credit that. Its was not …not their design idea, that was to face the sofa 180 degrees about. The girl in the team of 3, messed up the team idea of the main room with her wall paper choice, distracting from the veiw. Yet she was the so called target audience, yet she was totally off track off the mark out of step with the team. Crap crap judgment by the judges, sack them please.
I think Ju should’ve won because although her first design was too floral she improved with each episode, took all the judge’s advice, was a great team player, and always listened to what the client wanted even if it’s not her personal style. I was surprised Frank didn’t win over Cassie because he seemed poised to win. Both Frank and Cassie had their own distinct styles and trouble listening to clients but I guess Cassie might’ve won because she was a bit more flexible, more of a team player, and less arrogant. Although Frank seemed like a more talented designer to me, I think his arrogance got in the way of him working well with others and budgeting properly, and I guess that stood out to the judges. Even if Cassie coasted off other designers throughout the competition that’s why being a good team player is a useful quality to have.
What a robbed and ugly finale, I am sorry but all Cassie’s designs where terrible, cheap and out-dated (probably only the barber shop looks quite decent but it was just a coincidence it matches with her style). For the last challenge she even hasn’t a clear idea about the baby, every room seems disjointed, there wasn’t any concept or storyline. I can’t really understand how she won. Nikki’s black room and hotel chocolate room were stunning. She was completely robbed and Ju.
i dont get why so many people hate on cassie’s style. in my opinion, she has this strong character and specific design. she managed to put herself in her design but also giving what the clients wanted. yes, she didnt listen to her clients that much but i think it’s amazing that she always surprised them with her results as long as it’s still cohesive to the assisted design. maybe her style doesnt really liked by many people but that’s what makes her unique. lastly, i think her design wont age because she doesnt follow the trend.
