  • On a job standing atop a 20 foot ladder, I had a chandelier in my left hand with half a dozen branches and a circumference of about five feet, while I wired the thing up with my right hand (borrowing two fingers from the left for tightening the wire nuts). The whole time I was thinking – if I drop this, I gonna have to leave the country.

  • Handyman, hi from the uk, loving the website, after a favour. You mentioned the leatherman you use in a previous article, cannot remember what you said or what article. Do you have a tool link for all the tools you use or can you or anyone else let me know which leatherman or which article please. Keep up the good work nice to see a normal down to earth guy with a lot of pride in his work.

  • I’m commenting on a 3yr old article….. but one thing worth noting for the inexperienced people out there…. Be cautious using an impact while putting together these light duty items…. It takes very few Ugga-duggas(industry terminology) to break this cheap china junk…. Just snug is what you’re looking for

  • I recently had a prism chandelier to put up. It came in a box of a zillion separate parts. She said, “I’m sorry, I didn’t know it came in pieces; each wrapped in tissue paper!” I said, “I’m not, I’ve been wanting to buy some new shoes.” She laughed. I always tell them I really appreciate the work, like I don’t already have the next three weeks booked to the gills. Today, I go to my first job, changing locks on 4 exterior doors (8 total locks). I discover, on my way, that I’ve left my headlight band at the shop. It’s needed to quickly find bolt holes on thumb lock knob installs. So, I buy yet another one. Then…, one minute I’m using my 1″ spade bit to widen old homemade lock throw holes… and the next minute it’s gone. Apparently forever. I hate it when a new week starts off like that.
