Great work. Tip if you don’t mind me saying. To measure point to point. Measure out 100mm. Pencil mark. Measure to pencil mark plus the 100mm will get you the exact distance to the exact mm vs bending tape in the corner. Can’t read a bent tape jammed in corners very well. Something I learnt some time ago.😀
a couple of tips i have found after many years experience, 50,first thing i do is patch the existing keep then you have fresh timber to chop into and take the screws,use 100mm hinges and they will cover the existing75 mm hinge and give you fresh holes to take screws,use masking tape on the inside face of the doors(NO PENCIL MARKS TO RUB OFF) and never stand cordless dills on the battery at some point they get pushed over and chip laminate flooring this happened on my brothers house after laying new floor and after i told him not to stand the drill on its end,hope this is helpful

I rely on a couple of pre tape measure methods when fitting doors or anything into a bay/aperture where a tight fit is required. First is to transfer your measurements by using a rod. ie a suitable length of timber to transfer cutting marks from a to b,, perfect for hinges. (Introduce a shim on the frame) The second is a width ‘gauge’ which is simply 2 square ended rods both 2 feet long held together on their sides slid out to meet the jambs and marked with your pencil at any point. Very accurate.
3hrs to fit the doors. Is £43ph sounds good. Half an hour to drive to supplier to get doors, half an hour picking them up loading and paying, half an hour driving to customers and u loading, half an hour to get set up ready to hang doors, plus 3hours to fit doors and half an hour to pack away and half an hour to get home. Plus half an hour for a cup of tea or 2 with customer, plus half an hour chit chat with customer. Grand total of 7hrs ~£130/7 =£18.50ph Minus some diesel minus a bit of tax, we’re down to below £15ph. I’m not snubbing you. I’m a joiner it’s hard work. Customers only seem to take into account the time spent on there property, but the bigger picture is you Probly spend more time working for the customer off site. Good luck to ya!
So I’ve been a joiner nearly 20 year. Just a few tips take them or not but I always like to help ppl. Everyone has there own ways which I respect. 1 don’t ever Bend your tape into openings always measure across the face. Couldn’t tell if you were using a hinge jog with your router but there a life saver especially with hardwood doors. Also oak doors like that are veneered so putting a chisel under it s risky purchase yourself a pair in Winn airbags to lift your door when marking height. But overall your work is neat 👍🏻 not that you need my approval.

you butchered the cut outs for the lock a bit, initially you should invert them and then fix them to the door/frame with the 2 screws, then, either use a stanley knife to mark outline, or get a chisel and market outline close to the lock. Once you got your outline, remove lock, and carry on chiseling it out. I always fix the lock to the door first, then outline it with chisel, its way more accurate than a pencil. Yea it takes longer, but its worth it. Same with hinges, screw them on first, then use chisel to make outline of the hinge, remove hinge, then chisel out.
Im not a carpenter but ive hung a lot of doors. I might be telling you how to suck eggs here so take no notice if i am lol On doors with a pattern that will make it obvios is the doors slanted i check the frame first with a spirit level.. Hard to explain but a door can look like it fits but the frames slanted both sides so the door pattern messes with your eyes. By checking with a level you know which side needs an angle planing into it. And my other tip… Take the door outside to do the latch.. Clamp a piece of wood either side when you chisel the outline and drill the hole… Learned that 1 the hard way when i drilled an oak veneer early on with an auger bit and it split the dam door. Other than that.. If it fits properly with a nice even gap the route you took to get there worked. 👍
No 6ft or 2ft level being used which is a must when fitting doors also you should only ever plane the hinge side of a door not the lock side if the frame is out you pop the architraves off and use folding wedges till straight obviously charging according that’s the proper way to fit doors but nether the less I thought your work is pretty neat 👍
