This is the home of a Roman King. Thank God this apt is on the main floor as the furniture is do heavy I would be afraid of the ceiling falling in and killing a downstairs neighbor. This interesting apt is full of beautiful objects and has a great outdoors area, but does remind me of the religious wing of the metropolitan museum of art. Writing during your article Live edge table, no. Always with to much lacquer. Where is the nature? Concrete floors, no. It looks dirty easily. Animal print, no. Cruella interior. Animal hide rugs, no. It looks like road kill. Home goods, no opinion. I am from the Netherlands Excessive boucle, no. Not timeless Pot fillers, no. Spilling at your sink is much easier to clean up. Floral print, YES. It’s my style. The base must be good, and is more important if you are using florals.
Knowing his work, this doesn’t surprise me at all. What does surprise me is that there’s a wife hidden away in this collection somewhere. I wonder if she collects ceramic French poodles or teacups or something? I’d love to spend an entire day ( or six ) walking through the space and learning the history of all the objects!
It is kool but a touch ecclesiastical, 😂. You can smell the old churches just looking at the his collection an unforgettable aroma, looking back one of our most memorable jobs was in an old Church, the interior had been smoke damaged & our contract was to make all good again, the stonework, the wooden features, which included the whole internal roof & the stained glass. It was great turning up at that job for the duration, just a lovely atmosphere & feeling about the place & the sunlight coming through the stain glass, wonderful. I used to start early, as in 7am, ( well I was the Boss). Lovely memories
I would love to visit his house and just spend hours looking at all that amazing art, sculptures and paintings, walls and the list goes on! Reading the other comments I am clearly in the minority, but I do not find his apartment remotely appealing. He is undoubtedly a great photographer and an iconic and transgressive artist, and he has amassed a large collection of interesting and beautiful items, yet they are neither displayed well in a museum-like fashion nor distributed as decorative pieces around a visually appealing and comfortable home. The whole place to me reads as a peculiar storage room for an antique shop, somewhere behind the scenes, with everything merely set down and not consciously placed or considered. Nothing responds to the other pieces, nor its context. I like most of the constituent parts but get no pleasure from the whole. However, with all of that being said, it clearly all makes him happy and that is what matters.
