Can a VIN tell you the interior color?

The interior color code on a car can be determined by searching online and identifying the number on the label or tag. Some manufacturers encode color information within the VIN, so searching an online VIN decoding site can help you extract the interior color code. If you’re unsure, a dealership’s parts department should be able to decode the VIN. Where can I find the interior color code?

The interior color code of a car can be found on various locations, such as the manufacturer’s Monroney window sticker, the inside of the glove compartment, the underside of the hood, the vehicle identification number (VIN) label, and the passenger-side sun visor. If the window sticker is missing, the correct interior color code or trim code may be found on a permanent plate, tag, or decal on the vehicle.

The location of this information varies by manufacturer and era, so an online search with your vehicle’s year, make, and model, “interior color code location” or “interior trim code location”, could lead to the correct information. If the VIN is encoded within the car, you can search an online VIN decoding site for your vehicle, plug in the VIN, and extract the interior color code.

  • I agree w amber, any safety issues are a big deal. Sounds like GM maybe rushed these out? The big three is trying to close the gap on Tesla and they are doing a decent job but this kinda stuff is unacceptable. Looks like overall build quality it’s got the usual good gm build. The electronics tho that stuff scares me because it’s not something I can “fix” on my own so you rely on engineers and the dealer and that’s a deal breaker. Hate that this is happening but maybe the 25s and sport 3 will be fixed.

  • Hello horsepower obsessed! I’ve got good news I’ve finally got my car wrapped full Xpel and full ceramic coating! Totally worth it!! I had one question which easy to use basic yet effective product do you recommend to remove like stubborn stain/spots from like rain or tree pollen? Because I washed my car through a touchless wash and there were still spots that need to be cleaned.

  • Justin, thank you for this content. It hits home for me. Is it possible for you to conduct an experiment “please?” So, we all know that cellphones emit radiation correct!! Can you check how much radiation, if any, is being emitted from The Lyriq that Amber and yourself could be exposed to on a daily basis? Of course this would include all (EV’s) if the test comes back positive for unsafe radiation levels and the quality of build. Radiation is one of those silent 🤫 killers that can cause health issues as we all know. I had a conversation with a friend and he brought it to my attention. However, he didn’t have any evidence that could support the theory. I understand his mindset due to the amount of batteries 🔋 placed in EV’s. And we know EV’s are very heavy computers with wheels. Keep the content coming partner. Your work is much appreciated with me, thanx!!

  • HUGE INFO review of one of the most highly anticipated EVs on the market. I even had my mind set on one. Keep this review coming for good or bad. This is the first time i have heard of such problems, and this is GMs ULTIUM future car folks. Tell Amber keep up the good work because this might be FAR more pivotal a review than anything done on your website to date from a societal point of view. Excellent work.

  • I believe many of the infotainment issue’s including your Charging port issue is related to the fact that the OS is Google and not an Apple OS — Just for Giggles – try placing an Android phone there — noticed most of the any Infotainment issues on my C8, No HD Radio, Recognition of Phone via Bluetooth issue’s, Unable to activate WAZE or Map directions, etc — I believe since they move to a Google OS. Your other electrical issue’s again are mostly due to Computer Software and ECM intreface (otherwords Computer issue’s) — Sorry you are having this many issue’s or any issue’s on brand new “Cadillac” – Best of Luck
