Red oak has open grain. You can almost blow through the grain it’s like straws. White oak the grain is tight. You’ll find white oak that looks reddish and red oak that looks whiteish, the red and white in their names have to do with the trees and not so much to do with the actual color of the lumber 💙 thanks for this informative article. The only types of wood that I know are the ones in Minecraft: oak, spruce, birch, jungle, acacia, dark oak, mangrove, cherry, warped, and crimson. Warped and crimson are Nether types of wood and they were added in the 1.16 Nether Update, mangrove wood was added in the 1.19 Wild Update, but I don’t know when cherry wood was added.

Hello can anyone make a species suggestion for a freestanding bathtub platform’s BEAUTY TRIM. By the way this bathroom has a walk-in shower, so the room is intermittently subject to moisture. For reference, the bathroom mirror fogs up briefly after each shower. The underlying structure will be 2 x 6s, marine plywood on top, a shower pan liner, then the freestanding tub surrounded by a generous layer of small white stones to hide the liner. The sides and step will be covered with decorative hardwood. Looking for species suggestions and also what type of finish. Oil-based polyurethane? Cost of teak is prohibitive. And wife said: “No oak!”
I’m still pretty new to woodworking, and I’m starting or trying to get started with what I have and where I am, not where I wish I already was, with what I wish I already had. I’ll be the 1st that pallet wood and crate wood isn’t free due the hours spent in prep the wood to be used, even for crafts or wall art. I sort different lengths, thickness, weight and what not.
