  • I have a Macan Turbo; previously a Cayenne Turbo. Both are thunderous beauties. Yet there are some “surprises” not obvious to the eye. For example: the Cayenne has a tighter chassis and a much smaller turning radius than does the Macan — in case you make U-turns occasionally. For those who service their own as labor of love, please know that there is no dip stick on the Macan: you need to run the engine and watch the oil pressure gauge.

  • I’m only 5’10″/178cm and I can’t sit behind myself in the Macan. IMO, the Macan is not suitable if you want to carry men in the 2nd row. It’s okay for young families, and occasional use for small adults, but otherwise the Macan is simply too small in the 2nd row. If you set the driver’s seat for Thomas, I think even AJ’s knees would be cramped sitting behind him.

  • I’m sorry but your dead wrong. It’s a lot easier to get into the Porsche Macan. You’re clearly not a tall dude so you have to step up to get in that Cayenne. My 85-year-old mother is buying the Porsche Macan with every single electronic driving doodad Porsche offers. The reason she likes the Macan 2023 and the GLC43 is all she has to do is swivel from her walker and she’s in the seat. She hates my wife’s GLE and again the Porsche Cayenne and other similar larger SUVs is you have to step up again, not easier to get into.

  • Both the Cayenne and Macan are luxury crossover SUVs. Since 2003, the Cayenne became Porsche’s first car with more than 2 doors, a mid-size luxury crossover SUV and saves the brand of Porsche when it was struggling in that time. Ever since its evolution since the past few years, the Macan came in 2014 as a smaller version of the Cayenne as a compact luxury crossover SUV.

  • i never hear anyone talk about the fact the Cayenne was built for off roading originally. the interior gives hints to it as well. the brace handles near both passenger and driver seats. and the power, size also show case it. i prefer the Macan GTS bc of its compact size and sport look. but the history of porsche SUV is interesting

  • Excellent review. Having owned 3 Macans, an S and two Turbos, and now a 2021 Cayenne GTS, you are spot on. Only slight thing I would take issue with is, while you are correct you sit lower in the Macan, I never feel like I am sitting high in the Cayenne. I do wonder if my PCM can be upgraded like what I see on the car I. This article. My screen on CarPlay uses only half the screen. Pretty poor. I do miss the PDK though.

  • I love the Macan and I would never dissuade anyone from getting it. It drives so well. Personally I would still choose the Cayenne for a few reasons. I already have a sports car as a second car and the Cayenne drives so well compared to anything the same size that it works. It’s not as good on the Macan but already having a sports car it’s fine. The Cayenne just has more road presence, gets a bit more attention and that’s something I want if I have an SUV. Sure, it’s not a G-Wagon but the Cayenne GTS gets placed in more valets whereas a Macan GTS won’t. Not important to some but it’s important to me. The rear seat is also more spacious for passengers on slightly longer journeys. If I am going to have an SUV I want decent rear seats. It’s all about personal preference, both are wonderful but the Cayenne GTS makes more sense for me.

  • Cayanne is a much better car. This is the first SUV Porsche produced. The first models upto 2010 were not So good. From 2011 models big changes were made and now 2022 Cayanne Tirbo S is one the best SUV Of the year . Macan was basically for China market . The quality is not as good and naturally a 4 cylinder engine Not that desirable.

  • Do NOT forget that these 2 Cars now lead the entire automotive pack with a whopping 76% depreciation rate over only 3 years!! I just spent all afternoon checking new prices at $92k to $238k for a GT Ceyenne and $76k-$105 new Macans but then went shopping for the same “like for like” in only the 2021 models and Macans go as low as 24k!! And the Ceyenne as low as $32k. That’s before you negotiate! Ouch. I thought for sure that was a typo but came from US New and World Rsport who typically use 5 yrs depreciations. So then dilug around the 2019 lot and Macans are as low as 15k and a couple of ceyennes were listed at $19,999! And in 2024 a loaded all option Ceyenne is $238k!! Ouch! Go buy an Aston Martin or used Lambo! or Toyota! Def not worth that 76% hit in KUST 3 yrars. Double ouch! Unless you burn money as a hobby! The BMW 7 series boat used to lead the depreciation charge with 68% but that was over 5 YEARS???! Yikes. Do not buy! ($10k to replace all 4 brakes too) Porsche tax on this pig!

  • Leather is an incredibly robust material and it grows from the earth. One way of looking at it is being unkind to animals. Another way of looking at it is animals providing for us. I personally love animals and am attracted to them and always want to pet and be close to them, but I see the holistic nature of the circle of life in them providing us with their hides and meat for nutrient dense sustenance. I thank the animals for providing us humans with what we need. Alcantarra comes from polyester and polyurethane from crude oil and it requires a far much laborious process to end up as material for your car. Leather is animal hide and required less process and can be produced locally if car makers wanted.

  • Cayennes have been and still is the much more special car. For that size and weight, the way it turns is always mind blowing when I sit in one. Air suspension is a must have for these cars. Sat in a 2013 Cayenne GTS with air suspension and a 2018 Macan GTS with no air suspension and the Macan felt as floaty as a basic X3

  • This is the review I have been looking for. I do wish they would do away with the touch screens. They seem slick and modern but are distracting to use while driving, adjustments take much more time than a simple button, and the plastics simply attract smudges and dust. We have a GLE 450 and the infotainment is smudge city. I’m actually looking at a 2018 Cayenne so that I can avoid this mess as much as is possible these days. Another pet peeve is that these 21″ and 22″ wheels are being forced on everyone. They look ridiculous and the ride is harsh – quit throwing them in with the packages. Not cool speeding up while passing the cyclist – things go wrong and it’s not worth risking someones life over.

  • Both are extremely unreliable cars. Maybe they are for those who have money but have zero knowledge about cars since these money pits wont last 300.000 miles without an expensive major overhaul. The Cayenne is known for painful repairs like removing the whole car body from the chassis for a minor maintenance. Stupid at least.
