Methods For Cleaning An Interior Windshield?

This article provides a DIY method for cleaning the inside of a car windshield. The first step is to eliminate loose dirt and debris, which can be done by washing the dishes before placing them in the dishwasher. The best way to clean the interior windshield is to clean the exterior windshield, clean the interior windshield with dry microfiber, degrease the interior windshield, and polish the interior windshield.

To clean the inside of a car windshield, you will need a glass cleaner that is safe for your dash and interior finishes, rubbing alcohol, and distilled white vinegar. Wipe the windshield down with a clean, dry microfiber cloth to remove any dirt. Apply a bit of rubbing alcohol to remove any grease from the glass. Spray the glass cleaner on the other side of the microfiber cloth (not on the windshield) and wipe the glass in a circular motion.

To increase visibility, use a soft, microfiber towel (or clean shop towel) to wipe the inside windshield, starting with the corners and working your way up in circular motions. Other methods that may work include steel wool, a Magic Eraser, acid, a heavy alkaline cleaner, or a clay-based cleaner. To clean the windshield with a microfiber cloth, simply wet the towel with glass cleaner and then use small, circular motions to wipe away dirt and debris.

In summary, this DIY method is an effective way to clean the inside of a car windshield without streaking or causing damage. It involves using a mixture of warm water, dishwashing liquid, vinegar, and a microfiber towel to remove dirt and debris.

  • Great presentation. I used your interior cleaning to prep my truck to trade in. The dealer was very impressed with the cleanliness of the interior. Whether it helped increase my trade in… Who knows. With the used market needed vehicles I got almost what I paid for it six years ago. Talk about a good move. I think that cleaning the glass is only part of controlling the glare on the driver. The glare also comes from residue on the exterior and also on the dirty dash. Keeping those clean makes driving a lot easier.

  • Hi bro! 10 yrs later, your Chanel must be very popular. I’ve been doing my way just fine. Yours definitely deserves big thumbs up. I copy you and for the first time I order microfiber cloth and intend to use next time I clean my cars. It’s on sell cyber day so it’s cheaper the more reason to buy. After all, if you want your classes to be cleaned you must put effort to do it, No other way around it. Thanks 👍🏈🇺🇸🤩

  • Great article !! Question: 70% Rubbing alcohol is great for cleaning uncoated glass and metal, and for killing germs faster than Lysol. But it can damage other things like plastics and clear coatings. Are you sure the material that keeps the windsheild from shattering or the dashboard can’t be damaged by 70% alcohol ? During the pandemic I used it to disinfect my safety glasses, sunglasses and readers, but always wiped them off quickly with cloth. Some of the lenses eventually got ruined. I still clean my phone and tablet with 70% and it hasn’t hurt them yet. It did eventually damage my tablet case after many months. Thanks !!

  • Magic erasers work really well, but they don’t contain cleaning chemicals. Magic erasers are also known as melamine foam pads. They absorb oils and have a slightly abrasive quality to help lift oils, grease, and other contaminants from the surface. So if the water from a magic eraser drips, it literally is just water dripping on the dash board. As an aside, my side gig is as a professional sports photographer and I use melamine foam pads to effectively super clean puck marks from the rink glass.

  • I have very fine scratches on the outside and inside of my windshield caused by using paper towels to clean it up. Is there a way to remove those fine scratches? Since they are also in the inside, I would prefer something that I could apply by hand. I don’t want to spread compound all over my dash and headliner, plus there are very hard to reach spots with any rotary power tool
