Is A Well-Designed, Bright Space?

Target has introduced a new brand, Brightroom, which offers storage and home organization products. The brand is rebranding several items from the Threshold, Project 62, Room Essentials, and Made By Design lines. The new Brightroom collection provides hundreds of practical, versatile, and well-designed pieces at an incredible price.

One of the main features of Brightroom is its ability to create contrast, which can be achieved by using opposites in the right proportions. The large shelving unit with five tiers is made of steel and coordinates with any color of furniture. The wire construction of the unit is also durable.

To make a dark room brighter, it is important to layer lighting correctly to ensure a balanced space. Interior designers can use various design strategies to create the illusion of natural light in their homes. When the color on the walls continues uninterrupted on to the ceiling, the visual flow within the room is better, making the bedroom appear more taller, spacious, and airier.

Brightroom, launched in January 2022, is designed to help guests easily organize their homes with hundreds of well-designed and functional pieces. Some items in this line are from the Threshold, Project 62, Room Essentials, and Made By Design lines.

The set includes four different sized storage containers made from BPA-free material, each featuring a rectangular silhouette with an open-top design for easy organization.

Target has launched its own organization collection, Brightroom, featuring over 450 products at prices as low as $1. The collection includes storage bins, utility carts, shelving units, trash cans, and more. Some items are from the Threshold, Project 62, Room Essentials, and Made By Design lines, which have been rebranded. The aim is to compete with Walmart and their new The Home Edit collection. Is Brightroom the same as Room Essentials?

Target offers Room Essentials and Brightroom branded organizer shelves, both made of similar materials. Room Essentials is smaller but cheaper, while Brightroom is larger but more expensive. Dinnerware, such as bowls, plates, and cups, is also available at affordable prices but is plastic and not durable. Room Essentials is suitable for college students’ kitchens or first-time home owners, but it may not be suitable for long-term storage. What was Target's old brand?

What was Target’s old brand?

Target Corporation, founded in 1902 by George Dayton, was initially known as Goodfellow Dry Goods before being renamed the Dayton’s Dry Goods Company in 1903. The first Target store opened in Roseville, Minnesota in 1962, and the parent company was renamed the Dayton Corporation in 1967. The company later became the Dayton-Hudson Corporation after merging with the J. L. Hudson Company in 1969. In 2000, the Dayton-Hudson Corporation was renamed Target Corporation.

During the Panic of 1893, George Dayton purchased an empty corner lot adjacent to the Westminster Presbyterian Church in downtown Minneapolis and built a six-story building on it. He convinced the Reuben Simon Goodfellow Company to move its nearby Goodfellows department store into the new building, which was later renamed the Dayton Dry Goods Company in 1903 and shortened to the Dayton Company in 1910.

Dayton operated the company as a family enterprise, adhering to strict Presbyterian guidelines, forbidding the selling of alcohol, refusing liquor ads in newspapers, and limiting business activity on Sundays.

By the 1920s, the Dayton Company had grown to a multimillion-dollar business that filled the entire six-story building. After his son Nelson Dayton died in 1938, the company expanded with the acquisition of J. B. Hudson and Son before the Wall Street Crash of 1929. Despite operating in a net loss during the Great Depression, the department store weathered the economic crisis.

Throughout World War II, Nelson Dayton’s managers focused on keeping the store stocked, leading to increased revenue. The company offered workers retirement benefits in 1944 and began offering comprehensive health insurance policies in 1950. In 1946, the business started contributing 5 percent of its taxable income to the Dayton Foundation.
