Players can customize the exterior appearance of their estate based on their residential district location, with permits determining the initial appearance after construction. Small estates can hold up to 200 furnishing items, while medium estates can hold up to 300. The three available permits depend on the residential district and plot size.
Permits allow players to change both the walls and roof of their estate without locking them into anything. They can also be used to remodel various elements of their estate by opening the Housing menu and selecting “Remodel Interior” or “Remodel Exterior”. After purchasing the housing plot, players must construct the house itself, which requires a Housing Permit. To acquire one, players must interact with the plot of land they own and select “Purchasing” from the Social menu under Housing/Estate Hall.
Exterior fixtures can be altered to match the new residential area and plot size, and unique exterior fixtures can be purchased. Players can purchase housing privately or together with members of their Free Company. The exteriors and interiors of these houses can be changed without buying another one. After purchasing the permit, players can remodel the exterior using items they craft or buy, such as the Glade House Wall (wood).
To build an estate after owning a plot of land, players need to purchase a Construction Permit. To do so, players must complete the following steps:
- Head to the designated area.
- Check if the exempt construction or work is code compliant. For example, re-striping a commercial parking lot is exempt.
- Stand on your plot, use the permit, and an unfurnished house appears.
