Tesla’s cabin cameras, including the Model Y, can be accessed through the app. The camera is located above the rear view mirror and can detect driver inattentiveness, providing audible alerts to remind drivers to keep their eyes on the road when Autopilot is engaged. All current Tesla models include a cabin camera, which can be viewed through the Controls > Service > Camera Preview app.
The interior of the Model 3 and Model Y features a passenger-facing cabin camera built under the rear view mirror to look at the people inside the car. Three cameras are mounted to the windshield above the rear view mirror, one to each front fender, and radar (if equipped) behind the front bumper. Model Y is equipped with high precision AI, Autopilot, and Autonomous/FSD.
To view features currently enabled that use the cabin camera, tap Controls > Software > Cabin Camera. The interior camera can only be viewed while sentry is on, so tapping the red dot on the screen will feel you’re being watched. To access the live camera from the Tesla app, tap ‘Security’ > ‘Sentry Mode’ > ‘View live camera.’ Sentry Mode adds another layer of protection to the car.
In summary, Tesla’s cabin cameras, including the Model Y, can be accessed through the app. To view the live feed, navigate to Controls > Service > Camera Preview, and enable Sentry Mode to view the footage in real-time.
