To remove mold from walls, use a 1-to-10 solution of bleach and water, let it sit for 10 to 20 minutes, scrub any tough stains with a stiff bristle brush, and rinse with a garden hose. For concrete exterior walls, spray undiluted vinegar on the affected area and leave it to work for at least twenty minutes. Then, use a pressure hose with a high-pressure hose.
To identify the type of mold, use a moisture meter to measure moisture levels behind walls or underneath floors. If the reading is high, it’s likely a mold problem. To clean a small area of mold, mix one tablespoon dishwashing liquid, 1/2 cup chlorine bleach, and one cup of warm water in a spray bottle.
For surface stains, use bleach as the best mold remover, but white vinegar is the best option for deeper cleaning. Eliminate moisture sources, seal mold, eliminate mold damage, encapsulate the affected area, clean the area, make repairs, sprinkle baking soda onto a mouldy patch, or spray a solution of 1 teaspoon of baking soda and 2 cups of hot water directly on the mold.
To remove mildew from wood siding, hardi-plan, or stucco, use 1/3 cup all-purpose laundry detergent and 1 quart household chlorine bleach. Clean the surface, apply protective gear, and ensure the area is well-ventilated. Rinse and let dry. Commercial mold remover blends or a potent mix of white vinegar can kill mold and make brick less habitable to mold in the future.
A bleach-based spray followed by a biocidal cleaner, wiped away using a microfibre cloth, is the most effective black mold control method.
