This video demonstrates how to replace the door panel on a refrigerator, demonstrating the process from sub zero to Maytag. The process involves removing the screws that secure the existing door panel to the refrigerator and then removing the hinge cover. If the entrance door is too narrow for the refrigerator to pass through, the doors can be removed and reinstalled. The video also explains how to remove a refrigerator door in order to access parts.
To remove a refrigerator door, follow a series of steps specific to your model, such as disconnecting electrical and water, removing anything in the unit’s door compartments, and locating and removing the hinge cover. Tools required include a portable cooler, flathead screwdriver, a putty knife, and a wrench.
- Disconnect electrical and water connections.
- Lightly heat the part of the liner where it was glued to make it easier to remove.
- Pull the rubber door seal back, revealing the entire inner door liner held by screws around the perimeter.
- Remove the plastic hinge cover with a screwdriver, unscrew the top hinge, lift the door upwards to unhinge, and place the door and its hinge nearby.

Thanks for the guide! It helped a lot. The only part I was confused by was the quick connect on the water dispenser tube. Pressing “down” means pushing the blue ring “in”. Should have realized this at first but I spent a little bit of time pressing the wrong way on that blue ring. Either way, the guide helped!
Great article, informative. Although I wish you’d explain how to remove the door hinges at the bottom though. My fridge is currently sitting in my garage, but id like to take it inside. I just spent over an hour yesterday taking all my food out, taking the doors off the fridge, even going as far as taking the door that leads into my house from my garage off to try and fit it through. No luck. I used my tools to loosen the bolts from the door hinges on the fridge, but i couldn’t remove them completely at all. Did all of this work, just to have to leave it in the garage and put everything back to the original way.
