How To Take Out The Audi Tl’S Interior Trim?

The trim wedge is used to pry along the bottom of the panel, slowly making your way around the door until the panel pops off. Then disconnect the wire harness and you are done! The installation is the reverse of the removal procedure. To remove interior trim pieces on a 2000Tl, you can do it by hand but there is a tool called trim. Step 1 involves removing the screw covers around the door panel. You can either use a small flat head screwdriver or trim tool to pop off all of them.

The upper clip in the A-pillar needs to be hit with a rubber mallet, not on the pimple, but in. For the center dash, pop the center radio side pieces first. This will allow you to remove the side trim pieces.

For the left trunk side trim panel (E) and right trunk side trim panel (F), remove the bolt (A), screws (B), and clips (C, D). Then, disconnect the wire harness and install the trim pieces.

In summary, the trim wedge is a useful tool for removing interior trim pieces on a 2000Tl. It helps reduce damage to clips and makes panel removal easier. If you have a 2021 RDX and want to vinyl wrap some interior trim pieces, you can find information on how to safely remove them.

  • Very informative article. I’m trying to replace the L side mirror on a 2008 TL. I have pulled down a 3 step process that starts with removing “triangle-shaped trim piece on the inside of the mirror”; but it looks like it is a part of a larger trim piece that wraps around the window. I don’t want to break it. Can you clarify how to do this safely? Thanks

  • Thank you for sharing. One minor comment, you don’t need to remove the bolt on the passenger seat belt. Pull off the plastic cover, and right above the bolt, there are two buttons/pines, depress with screwdriver and the seat belt pulls right out of the bracket. Makes it very easy. I just did it last week when I removed my seats. Thanks again for sharing, great article.
