To waterproof a wall from the inside, follow these eight steps:
- Locate the source of moisture.
- Conduct a condensation test.
- Fill the damages in your walls.
- Fix deep cracks.
- Use sealer.
- Use water-resistant drywall.
- Install a sump pump.
- Install a French drain.
Wet walls occur when excess moisture enters and cannot be removed from your house due to the temperature difference between the outside air and the inside. To prevent moisture and condensation on your walls, follow these steps and techniques.
To protect your basement from water damage, seal cracks, install sump pumps, dehumidifiers, and other solutions. Insulate the walls to prevent moisture from entering the house.
Identify and fix causes of wet basement walls, such as cracks, window wells, and soil pressure. Find the best waterproofing products and methods for interior and exterior walls.
Inspect your walls regularly, clean them thoroughly, apply a waterproofing sealant, install a drainage system, and perform regular checks for faults.
When waterproofing external walls, clean your gutters and select the right waterproofer. Use plaster waterproofing additive to ensure proper installation and sealing.
The best solution is to add installation and then seal it internally, such as adding fiber insulation between upright wood supports. Start with a high-quality waterproof barrier, such as a liquid membrane or bituminous membrane, applied directly to the clean, bare walls.

How to seal a concrete wall from the inside?
To waterproof basement walls and floors, apply a waterproof coating after sealing gaps and cracks. Choose a product that shields walls and floors from hydrostatic pressure and water seepage. Use a high-quality nylon bristle brush or a nap roller to apply the concrete sealer, massage it into the masonry’s pores. A minimum of two coatings are needed for proper coverage. Before applying, read manufacturer recommendations and directions.
Caulking, hydraulic cement, and cracks filler are popular DIY basement waterproofing materials, but they do not stop water seepage if foundation issues occur. If you are a professional, filling holes, cracks, and caulking is not a necessary solution.
Can you waterproof a wall from inside?
Interior wall waterproofing is crucial in construction projects as it protects walls from moisture and water damage. There are various products available for this purpose, including concrete sealers, liquid membranes, sheet membranes, and elastomeric coatings. Concrete sealers prevent water penetration and come in various colors and finishes. Liquid membranes are a two-part system that includes a primer and an acrylic or epoxy coating, repelling water and preventing moisture buildup.
Sheet membranes are impermeable sheet material applied onto the wall surface, often used in bathrooms for superior water damage protection. Elastomeric coatings are another popular option for interior walls, formulated with flexible resins that stretch and flex with changing temperatures and conditions. These coatings offer excellent protection against water damage while maintaining breathability, allowing moisture to escape from within the walls.

Floorseal Breathable Brick Sealer and Waterproofer is a breathable sealer that can be used on interior, exterior, and masonry surfaces. It resists water and oil-based staining and is breathable, making it suitable for walls and floors. However, it is not dustproof as it is a full impregnating sealer embedded into the treated material’s pores, and does not dry on the surface. If preventing staining from liquid splashes is the main concern, Floorseal Breathable Brick Sealer and Waterproofer is suitable for this purpose.

How do you waterproof the inside of an exterior wall?
Waterproofing exterior walls is crucial for maintaining property integrity and preventing structural damage. To effectively waterproof your walls, follow these simple steps:
Inspect your walls for cracks, gaps, or signs of damage. This can be done visually or using a moisture meter. If any damage is found, repair it before proceeding with the waterproofing process. This ensures proper adhesion of the waterproofing material and long-lasting protection.
Clean your walls thoroughly. Dirt, dust, and debris can hinder the adhesion of the waterproofing material. Use a power washer or hose to wash the walls, removing dirt, grime, or mold. Allow the walls to dry completely before proceeding with the next step.

How to waterproof a house from inside?
Drainage systems can help control water levels in homes by directing water into a sump pump pit, which is then pumped away from the house. These systems may also include dehumidifiers to reduce humidity levels. In situations where outdoor work isn’t feasible, sealing up from within is the best option, providing protection against dampness and mold growth. This method is particularly beneficial when buildings are too close together or hard landscaping is in place.
What is the best waterproofing method for exterior walls?
External walls of homes should be protected from heavy rainfall, freezing winters, and scorching summers. They are most susceptible to damage during monsoons, as they are exposed to rainwater, high humidity, water, and moisture. These factors, combined with extreme temperatures and extreme humidity, can lead to the growth of algae on the surfaces. To protect your walls, consider using products like Silicate Based Sealer, Waterproof Paint, and Plaster Additives.
These products react with concrete and masonry to create a waterproofing coating, providing better performance compared to acrylic paints. Plaster additives can also be used to enhance the performance of your exterior walls.
What is the cheapest way to waterproof a wall?
The most cost-effective method for waterproofing a basement is the application of a waterproof paint coating. This can be completed for a relatively low cost per square foot.

Sir napaka-detalyado po ng vlog nyo. It seems very knowledgeable kayo pagdating sa construction issues. Both above ground structures kasi wala naman kaming basement.
Sir good day. I’m supposed to used it for our septic tank, so that it will prevent any leak towards our water well(balun). May I ask whom can I call for some question? 1. What if product has just applied, then rain suddenly come in few hours 2. Can we still used brush or roller for the second coating? since it is just a septic tank. 3. Can we leave it un-coated, after the second coating? Thanks
Hello po! Salamat sa articles niyo! Sana nakita ko agad itong website niyo nung nagrennovate kami ng bahay early this year.
Hi sir! Will this help resolve un condensation sa wall namin?
If the wall is concrete and well cured,It has a better characteristic of repelling the entry of water because of its form, solid, while if its chb, more spacious in its form and very susceptible to hold /absorb water though paint/waterproofing is applied. Any application is useful but perhaps in a limited time only, maximum of 3 to 5 yrs. Our weather affect it most. The hot temperature and the rain can change the waterproofing effectiveness. It has also its wear and tear,I believed! If your structure is saturated due to continuous rain, that will cause the pressure to push the waterproofing/paint applied. Hot season could cause cracks (temperature at the start) and movements can make it bigger, the reason why suddenly there was a bulging on the applied paints. So, application should be part of the preventive maintenance. My observation only!
What’s the best remedy/product to use po kaya sa problem namin. May terrace kami, walang bubong at nakatiles, kitchen yung ilalim. Is there any product we can apply? TIA.

PWEDE PO BA NA BAKBAKIN NALANG YUNG PAINT SA AREA NA YUN BAGO LAGYAN NG FLEXOR or NEED BAKBAKIN LAHAT NG PAINT then flexor then skim coat and final paint?
