To save home screen layout and icon position on Android, you can use Nova Launcher, GoodLock, or Lawnchair 2 Launcher. Nova Launcher is a popular home screen application available on the Play Store. To customize your home screen layout, long-press on an empty area of your home screen and select “Layout”. You can add and organize apps, shortcuts to content inside apps, and widgets that show.
To tweak your Home Screen settings, long-press on a blank area of your home screen, select Settings, and select Home Screen. A list of settings will appear, including changing the wallpaper, adding shortcuts, adding widgets, and adding or removing new Home screens. To create a more structured home screen, swipe up to go through apps or type the app name in the search bar at the top.
In 2023, when restoring an Android phone from backup or copy from another phone, it may not copy the home screen layout. To ensure this, try using Adb to backup your launcher app’s data and verify if user settings were backed up. Individual launcher apps can save the layout and restore it on another phone, but only if it’s restored to the same launcher app.
To create a backup, go to settings, accounts, and backup, under Samsung Cloud, choose backup data, check home screen and apps, and press “Backup now”. Enable the toggle and select “Immediate” to create a backup. A screenshot of your current layout will appear.
Depending on your phone, you can either swipe up from the bottom of the screen or tap Home or Home. On some phones, you can have more than one Home screen.
