Cleaning between the oven glass requires careful attention to detail and the right approach. To clean the inside of an oven door, gather materials such as baking soda, water, a medium-sized bowl, and a spray bottle. Tempered glass oven doors are typically two layers thick, so you can remove grease from both the inside and outside with just a few pantry supplies.
To clean between the glass on your oven door, first prepare your oven and cleaning station by ensuring it has completely cooled from its most recent cycle. Place clean towels on the floor in front of the oven to catch any stains. Apply dish soap with a damp cloth, and if the door still appears foggy or shows streaks, apply a drop of grease-cutting dish soap to a damp cloth and wipe down the door. Rinse with water.
Remove brown stains and streaks from your glass oven door by applying a paste of baking soda and water directly to the stain and letting it sit for at least 20 minutes. Remove the paste with a wet microfiber cloth, and if the stain remains, gently scrape it away with a plastic scraper.
Open the door and wipe off any loose bits of grime with a damp microfiber cloth. Pour baking soda in a bowl, either ammonia overnight or Fume Free Easy Off oven cleaner. Light smudges and spills can be removed with vinegar or glass cleaner. The inner glass comes into contact with more food and possible spills, making it more likely to be affected.
To clean the inside of the oven door, spray the vinegar or lemon juice mixture on the interior and exterior glass of the oven and wipe with a clean microfiber cloth. Mix baking soda with water to create a thick paste, then apply it liberally over the oven glass and let it sit for at least 15-20 minutes.
