This video demonstrates how to unlock an Emtek door knob using a paperclip, small Allen wrench/hex key, or similar object. The lock is shipped with two 4-digit user codes and a 6-digit programming code, which are randomly generated at the factory. If the thumb press remains locked until you depress the button on the edge of the door, this is normal operation and cannot be changed.
To lock and unlock your Emtek Electronic Deadbolt, push in the pin from the outside of the door and release it by inserting the tool through the pin hole on the rosette and pushing the same locking mechanism back out to the door. Once the thumb piece is locked via the stop, the only way to unlock it is to press the unlock button.
If the door is locked and the deadbolt is thrown, turn the inside. Many Metek locks have a privacy pin in the back, but when purchased, they did not come with any key or tool to open the privacy lock. To unlock the lock, press and hold the EMTEK button for 3 seconds, then press and hold the button for 3 seconds. The yellow LED flashes, then remains solid, and number keys also illuminate.
Finally, enter the Programming Code and fasten the inside trim using two 8 machine screws (provided).

I have accidentally locked myself out of every single room in the house where this lock is installed. Poor design.
