The paint store will have the technology to determine the exact color match.

Ask This Old House painter Mauro Henrique demonstrates how to accurately match a paint color. #ThisOldHouse #AskTOH …
I work at a home center and people trying to match paint colors come in all the time with all sorts of different colors, and shades, and sheens, after a while you can usually tell by looking at the chip what sheen it is, however matching darker colors, is easy with the technology that is available to me, we can get a pretty accurate match to the color, but keep in mind there will always be a small difference in the color no matter what we do
Just did this in our kitchen. We had an unfinished paint job and it wasnt the color we wanted so I cut out some from adjacent wall. Took it to Sherwin Williams and the match is pretty spot on. We only have done the first coat and its a much lighter color that the paint that was already there. Once the second coat gets painted I’m sure I won’t be able to notice a difference in the wall colors!!!!
