How To Keep Inside Trim In Gloss Black?

To clean gloss black interior trim on your car, start by wiping the surface with a soft microfiber cloth to remove dust and loose debris. Then, apply a small amount of a non-abrasive cleaner. Use Bowden’s Own Boss Gloss and Bowden’s Own Drop Bear microfibre cloths to easily clean piano gloss black surfaces in your car.

Gloss paint is much easier to clean than flat or eggshell paint, and the higher the gloss, the more durable and washable the painted surface. Use mild cleaning products to blow off dust and try to get some with a vacuum. Use cleaning gel to get remaining bits of dust. Spray neutral interior cleaner spray and soak.

A soft brush with Dodos Cabin Krud can be used for cleaning the interior trim. A gentle wipe over with a good quality microfibre cloth is recommended. Clean it up with waterless wash or detail spray, then seal it with the sealant of your choice. As a final step, you can hit it with a coat of wax. One product I started using and love is Invisible Glass Interior detail spray, which leaves a nice clean protected surface without dust and fingerprints.

In summary, cleaning and protecting piano black interior trim is a quick and easy process that can help restore the appearance of your car’s interior trim. Use a soft microfiber cloth to wipe off dust and loose debris, followed by a waterless wash or detail spray to leave the trim looking just like new.

  • Great info, as always, I used Gyeon interior cleaner (few, sprays on microfiber towel) to remove light dust and few fingerprints from the gloss black trim in 23’ M5 and it left piano gloss black trim cloudy and dull in a few spots, not sure why, but hopefully I won’t have to buy a new trim, just as a heads up to whoever wants to use this product on a gloss black trim,do it as you always say in a small test spot first.

  • Color coding helps me out so much when I’m detailing and it also keeps towels, brushes, etc, neatly organized when I’m not using my detailing tools and equipment. Gyeon Interior Detailer is such a good product, makes the cleaning of gloss black trim child’s play! Great informative article Pan, spectacular work as always♥!

  • Thanks so much for this article! I get my car washed once a week, and the car wash staff do a great job everywhere in my car except for this middle console and infotainment screen. I’m not upset: I think they would rather not really touch it so that nothing gets messed up. So now, I know how to supplement with my own products to clean this section specifically!

  • Sooo Satisfying…My son and I have done some ‘Kindness’ Details for Friends and Family and we found when things are really kinda gross, have a small bucket of clean water to rinse the Detail Factory Brushes out as we moved around the interiors. Lots of Towels and our ‘go to’ is Lithium Inner Space as we finish up. Perfecto’.

  • Pan I’d like to see a real extensive article of your recommendations for low cost high performance chemical detailing products. This would be tremendously helpful as the biggest long term costs of detailing are found in chemicals and those on a budget like myself would love to use high quality low cost products. Thanks for your consideration and appreciate all you do.

  • Excellent as always. I love these short and sweet articles. I’m a huge fan of the 303 line of products especially the 303 Protectant. Gives that OEM look but adds the UV protection. For the infotainment and navigation surfaces I like to use a IPA mix at a 1 part isopropyl alcohol to 5 parts distilled water. So far it works like a charm when combined with a short nap microfibre towel.

  • I always enjoy perusal interior detailing. Driving a clean interior is a must! I usually bring those rubber inserts for the cup holder and cubby inside and give them a good wash in my sink with warm soapy water, just to make sure they are really clean, then dry them with a microfiber towel and put them back. Sadly i have to put my gatorade bottle in my cup holder upside down because the bottle is too wide and the neck is the only thing that fits, so i get leakage sometimes! Drives me nuts! Love your interior articles!

  • Yet another great article. I’ve quickly learned from perusal your articles to color code towels. For me darker on outside, and colors like yellow and light blue inside. I really need to get myself a can of that sticky gel though. There are so many little crevices in my car that stuff is stuck in. Will be gold. It would figure I just left the detail supply place and I could have picked up a bottle of the P&S.

  • Hi Pan, I’m a relatively new subscriber to your website but a big fan . I’ve got a 4month old car (mini countryman cooper S with Mini JCW interior). There are some scuff marks on the running boards and lower door trim which are textured plastic. Can you please advise the best way to treat this. Thanks in advance.

  • This is maybe a strange question but with the water-based surface protection products, what happens if any water lands on your interior? An umbrella dripped on the trim in my car and when the water dried there was a strange strain left behind (not simply a water stain). The car had been at the dealership for repairs and they cleaned it before returning it. Now it’s with me, I’m planning to do its regular clean myself, but I don’t want to risk weird stains every time it rains!

  • Hey pan, what would you recommend to use to clean the instrument cluster on a Toyota Tacoma? I have been keeping that truck tiptop clean since I bought it two months ago but I have not cleaned the plastic instrument cluster because I have heard it scratches super easy so I’m kind of nervous about it. lol

  • I get a high amount of anxiety when it comes to interior cleaning. I’ve had the white lettering on buttons smear from using interior cleaners. I don’t clean interiors often but I’ve almost avoided those areas and resorted to using a rinseless wash to tackle them. I was hoping this was mentioned in the article and maybe you have perhaps in a article before but a part of me wants to stick to keeping thing simple and need sound advice in tackling this issue. Last thing is to damage a clients car!
