How To Get My Goods Featured On Home Renovation Programs?

Showcasing your products at home improvement shows is crucial, and one of the key elements is having an attractive and engaging booth. Demonstrating your products can be another effective way to showcase your products. Engaging with attendees is also essential. To get on home improvement shows, research different shows to find the best fit for your project, create a compelling story about your renovation, and engage with attendees.

To get on home improvement TV, start by immersing yourself in the world of home improvement television, watching various shows to understand their formats, types of projects, and overall tone. Showcase unique projects that you have completed at home that might catch producers’ attention. If you dream of having your home featured on your favorite home show, consider applying or nominating someone. Netflix offers a sweet opportunity for appearing as a cast member on home improvement shows.

Building product brands should keep six strategies in mind when evaluating a product integration opportunity: contact the TV network, direct to their sales team, ask to see portfolios, talk to clients, and submit your house in need of a renovation to appear on an upcoming season of This Old House. Detailed advice on how to set up and operate your booth in a local home show is provided to sell enough work to make the investment worth it.

Reality shows often make it look like an entire home can be remodeled in a month by leaving out many critical steps involved in the real-world process. The Magnolia show, Holy Craft, features a series of home renovations, with most of the furniture being staging furniture. After the reveal, clients can purchase items they want to keep in their home, which can be challenging for clients who have spent thousands on the renovation. Kyle and Jaime, a cast member, had to decide what they loved from an entire home filled with beautiful furniture and accessories.

The show typically features three to five room renovations, but not all rooms are featured in the episode. The Magnolia team only works on cosmetic upgrades, such as carpeting, paint, and fixtures, in Jaime’s case. The show’s before-and-after pictures provide a glimpse into the final look of the house.

Your home is listed with multiple location companies and scouts. When you first wanted to get into filming, contact the California Film Commission and they sent you a list of location scouts and companies in Southern California.

Sending a flier with color photos of your home to about 300 location contacts started filming multiple times a year for over twenty years. Renting your home for movies may also work for you and your home.

Do TV shows make money?

TV shows, despite their smaller budgets, can still be profitable due to their ability to generate revenue through syndication and streaming deals. While movies are a one-time event, TV shows can continue to generate revenue through commercials, subscriptions, investors, streaming, and syndication. With millions of viewers tuning in, TV shows can be highly profitable, with some generating hundreds of millions of dollars annually through syndication, streaming deals, and merch.

HGTV covers the talent fee for Chip and Joanna’s design services, allowing homeowners to pay only for furniture. • I appreciate the article I just watched, my husband has passed away, I cannot fix things around house, can’t pay The price it cost for repairs, I wanted to learn how to fix my toilet, I was trying to repair all parts inside, I found your article and it was very good, I saved it and going to try to fix it, Thank you so much, will let you know if it works

  • Hello Sean and Christina. You are so right about the actual transparency. Lol. It truly is a a lot work. Financial is always an issue. Certainly in this day and age, materials and/or equipment is getting hard to come by. Like you said, plan A to B to C and plan D. Lol Getting creative with your next step. Sandstone is extremely tough and needs the big guns. Thanks so much for keeping it real as always. Perseverance is key. Much continued success guys. 🛠️⛏️🚜👍💙🌞

  • My dad built our first house and renovated the three we lived in after that. The best advice is don’t live in the house while you’re renovating. It’s brutal. My last diy renovation we lived in the house and it’s always messy. You’re tired and usually you’re not sleeping where you normally should be sleeping. We had termites in the flooring and had to systematically remove the flooring to find where they were coming in. (Contractor didn’t remove wood side support and backfill with concrete for sunken living room and the termites came in.) Took way too many months to get it down then found out we had carpenter ants after a small earthquake made a small crack in the slab. Homeownership 🤷‍♀️

  • It is scary! Lol. Love this transparent look at your project and all that goes into this. Great advice on the “smile and nod” for unsolicited advice. I really like hearing a lot of the ideas, but sometimes you just have to do the smile and nod. 😂😂 my hubby is about to finish mudding the drywall on our AirBNB apartment remodel. Looking forward to paint, tile/flooring, lighting installs, switches and all that finish stuff. I’m hoping it starts going quicker after the dryway is done. Oh the dust on EVERYTHING. 😬😬😬

  • None of your points make it fake🤦🏼‍♀️ They are professionals, you are not. Everyone who watches those shows knows they have a crew, they don’t hide it😳.. b/c you couldn’t cut your husbands hair like a real hairstylist or create the same meal as a chef, are they fake? No they are professionals. So sick of clickbait

  • So true! And not just for renos but also new builds! 🥺 Since 1969 we’ve bought and had 4 homes professionally built. One home was almost complete so we just chose finishes. I have some scary stories. We moved every 7 years due to my husband being an engineer with the Alberta government and ended up building because of housing shortages. Murphy’s law is valid. If something can go wrong it will. I admire your courage and motivation in doing what you do, because our current house in Edmonton was our last in 1987 and was affected by the tornado, and despite our previous experience was the worst we had to deal with. We’re seniors now and have updated and renovated it plus made it senior friendly because there is no way I want to ever go through another move. Bravo you two! 😊👍👍👍💖

  • Great job, and yes the reality is DYI is exactly that. We moved from AB to ON in December 2020 in hopes of building our 4ever home in 2021, with all the world issues, we are in 2022, and windows will arrive finally next week and doors are delayed to Aug 11th, so as you say, being on a budget we are doing a lot our selves. Basement foundation and backfill, shooting grade was not one of my favorite jobs, but at least we can say we did it. My husband operated excavators out west so here as there rentals were hard to get, but now all is left is the septic. It’s finally starting to look like a house. Great job, stay positive, it always works out in the end!

  • Thanks for that and I totally agree. We do a big renovation here in Germany. No contractors, no material high prices… We got through so far by buying what is in stock ready to take home! Even the kitchen was fitted within 2 weeks as it was a showroom kitchen they sold cheaper and it fits perfect. Good luck it will be superb in the end!

  • So true, im living exactly this. Plus I don’t have any background in renovations so it’s hard cause it seems to me like something that should be done in a week takes two, it’s very hard for me to plan deadlines. I wish I could snap my fingers and have it all be done. Plus we got maried and started the renos right after and it affected our communication for some weird reason and we have some heated arguments about budget and things that he can do and that he rather have a contractor do, but to me if you can do it why pay someone else… but thats me and I have no experience haha. Can’t wait for this house to be done so I can enjoy a dust, box free home!
