This video teaches how to disassemble an office chair in six easy steps. The process begins with removing the arms and base, then disconnecting the chair from the gas cylinder. Next, remove the seat padding and upholstery, then the caster wheels. Finally, take apart the frame and mechanisms.
To ensure safety, follow the steps provided in the video. Before disassembling the chair, ensure that you have the necessary tools, such as a pry bar and screwdriver, and that the chair is in good condition.
The video also covers how to remove the headrest, backrest, armrests, and cylinder from the seat. It is important to avoid damaging the chair by following the step-by-step instructions.
Following these steps will help you disassemble your office chair safely. Keep loose screws or bolts in a bag, as losing them can make it difficult to reassemble the chair.
To minimize movement, remove the tires from the chair, remove the chair base, and remove the headrest. Flip the chair upside down to access the wheels and base, then use a screwdriver or pliers to pull them out. Remove the bolts from the chair using an Allen wrench or screwdriver, then remove any washers or plates. Place all hardware in a bag.
In summary, this video provides a comprehensive guide on how to disassemble an office chair, covering the essential steps and precautions needed for proper assembly.

i’m replacing the gas cylinder on my aeron classic but i have been fighting with it for about a week here and there.. i have a large pipe wrench i’m using to twist it free but it seems very seized into the bottom bearing. Anyone have any tips for this? I’ve also tried removing the seat mesh and hitting the cylinder out from the top with a socket and a hammer. no luck. 🙁
interesting, any chance that you are selling some of the parts? some of us across the pond would love to purchase some parts (e.g. I would love that posturefit thing you made and that cover for mechanics as my second original 3 point posture fit broke and my plastic cover is in peaces for over 15 years)
I noticed no smaller A sizes. I had the B & it was bigger then I needed for desk area. Also, if I get as is, is the aluminium finish underneath decent enough to be polished like the new models option? Are any of the seat components interchangeable for the Mineral brighter colour or can it just be upholstery painted? I have a damaged 1997 classic. Only issues was arm adjust didn’t hold so long, gently slipped over time of leaning on them.
