The text discusses the issue with the interior lights in a Dodge Challenger vehicle. It suggests that the lights can be disabled by turning off the trunk latch using a pocket knife, key, or screwdriver. The trunk light can be accidentally left on and cause battery drain, so it is important to locate and turn it off when the trunk is open. To do this, rotate the trunk lid “catch” with the lid open, which rotates as the lid is lowered. If the car has one, stand and watch if the trunk light turns off when the headlights do.
The text also mentions that the interior lights will turn off automatically 10 minutes after the ignition is placed in the OFF position to protect the battery. To turn off the Dodge Challenger interior lights, locate the instrument panel dimmer on the left side of the instrument panel and rotate it downward to the bottom position. To disable the lights from coming on when opening the door, press the buttons surrounding the dome lights along the doors and roof. For the trunk, pop the bulb out or remove the fuse. The inside light should have a way to turn off.
To turn off the interior lights in a 2019 Dodge charger, press the buttons surrounding the dome lights along the doors and roof. For the trunk, pop the bulb out or remove the fuse. The inside light should have a way to turn off. You could wire in your own on/off switch in the trunk lock. Insert the folded part between the spring loaded clip in the trunk lock. The circuit will “open” and the light will turn off.
If the doors are closed tight, you may need to disconnect the battery to see if that is a fix.

Great job on the article, I was motivated to change these but now I am left wondering why dodge designed it this way and whether it’s worth the effort. For an extra 75 cents they could have made it a twist lock housing in the headliner, so you just twist counterclockwise and the bulb housing drops out from headliner, replace bulb and twist back in clockwise. Would take 5 seconds to replace bulbs.
