How To Decorate Jewelry Collars With Rubber Rings?

Rubber O Rings are a versatile and colorful material that can be used in jewelry, chain mailers, and other crafts. They are used to hold slides in place and add a pop of color to any design. Rubber O Rings can also be used as stoppers for Regaliz corduroy rubber and cork leather alternative cord. Rubber may seem like an unlikely material, but it is used in jewelry to add color and stretch to creations. Chain mailers use rubber rings to add color and stretch to their creations, while recycled jewelry artisans also create with this material.

To make jewelry from rubber bands, you need supplies such as rubber bands, C or S home, two items to hold your piece, and optionally a hook. To join the teardrop and chain, use clasp rings on both sides of the eye and lobster clasps on the end edges of the chain.

A free tutorial on making rubber beads in under 10 minutes can be found on jewelrymaking and molding with sugru and cocktail sticks. To make a collar necklace, set up a loom in the diagonal format (3 pegs wide x 13 pegs long) and lay a purple band with the pointed end facing you. • Trying this out and unfortunately, MOST suppliers do not sell beads large enough for the covered wire tubing illustrated in this article. Sure, I suppose you could manually drill a larger hole for each individual bead, however that process is extremely time consuming. While I like the idea of this, I’m still looking for better aligned sized beads & wire for a smoother & faster process for this type of craft.

  • So your tutorial was super easy. Thank you so much. But I do have a question. I can’t seem to get the tubing to stay snug on the clasp. I notice it still slides. Now I bought one for my dog last year from somebody and they somehow were able to harden theirs. But I don’t know if theirs was like a silicone or what material it is to be able to harden it like that. Do you have a Facebook or something like that? To be able to message you and ask you questions?

  • Thank you for this tutorial! I am autistic and struggle to understand instructions unless they are crystal clear, and sometimes find online step-by-step tutorials hard to wrap my head around, especially since I can’t ask clarifying questions as readily in an online context. But you explained everything so clearly and concisely that I understood immediately 😀

  • @Kellie’s Bead Boutique I am so grateful for you sharing this article with us all. I have a favorite necklace my father gave me back in high school that is adjustable with these knots. I’ve already had the pendant professionally repaired and I was worried what I would do if the thin rope it was attached to ever wore to much. Now I know that I can rest easy since you’ve just shown me how to replace it myself. Thank you so much. This necklace means so much to me and not being able to wear it would just break my heart. Now I can rest easy.

  • I have special natural stone rondelles, flat donut shaped stones for pendants, that I want to put on cord in this way with sliding knots, so I can wear them up close to my neck or down near my heart when I want to. This will be great for that, and I assume that getting the donut suspended on the cord exactly in the middle of the length of the cord by putting a loop of cord through the middle hole and passing the rest of the cord starting with the 2 ends through that loop to secure the pendant on the cord. Then I can make the sliding knots on the other opposite side of the cord from the pendant. I hope I wrote all that clearly!

  • Could you do the same knot on fabric masks? Both the rectangular folding types and the center seam, no fold, masks? I make masks out of layers of left over quality quilt fabrics. One user who must leave the mask on for prolonged work prefers no elastic ear loops as they eventually become uncomfortable. My husband says he has trouble tying strips that must be tied at the back of his head.

  • I’ve worn my wedding ring (inside my husbands) this way since he died. A kind crafter twisted a little wire holder for them & hung them on a cord like this. After 16 years, its still all I wear, so it’s almost gone to pieces again. Well, the craft fairs haven’t come back yet, so I’m real glad to learn how to make another cord for myself. Thank you.

  • Thank you Kelly! I have a sentimental necklace that was on a leather cord like this, which eventually broke a few years back. I finally got some new leather cord and thanks to this article, my necklace is back to its old glory! P.S I may have forgotten to cut my leather cord the first time around and initially had a 3m long necklace 😂

  • I MADE ONE 😭❤️❤️❤️❤️😃😃😃!!!!!!! I didn’t do perfect but I did it!!!! how long I have been wanting to learn this. synthetic black leather and one pearl right in the middle🥰 eight years and now I know how to do it!!!! I’m crying happy tears right now. I’m 50 years old and I feel like a teenager!!!!! I must keep practicing and I also wanna learn how to do friendship bracelets!!! I’m gonna have to find some real leather cord. 😀 thank you so much

  • Thank you so much! I tried another article which was basically the same thing, but could not see what the girl was doing at all, and it just wound up being confusing. You describe exactly what you’re doing and despite the finicky-ness (?) of the little end pieces, you still managed to get good enough camera angles so that it’s clear what you’re doing. So easy to follow!

  • Just looked how to do this cause I loved a nice thread necklace but didn’t have a way to shorten the thread to keep it at a nice level but also gave enough to fit over my head and I am ever so grateful for your wonderful tutorial!! I love this type of knit and I’m absolutely thrilled to be able to use it know!! Thank you so much!! 😁😁❤️❤️❤️✨✨✨

  • Yours was the first one that I understood enough to actually be able to make it work. Thank you! However, you confused me when you said you would be working with the “inner most part” strand. Now to me, that would have been the one in the middle, because that would be “inside”. . But I finally realized you were talking about the bottom piece. You either need to change your terms or make sure everyone understands which one you are talking about.
