How To Decorate For Halloween Using Black Glue Sticks?

This Halloween DIY project involves creating glow-in-the-dark decorations using hot glue. The process involves wrapping a white candle with black lace or cheesecloth, and using a hot glue gun to attach plastic skeleton hands around the base. The ghostly decorations are then lit up. Glue is used to attach different pieces of the craft, such as paper bags or googly eyes or stickers. The project requires a scoreboard, paper trimmer, cardstock, hole punch, black twine, black tissue paper, double-sided tape, and Scrabble tiles.

To create the ghosts, use hot glue to stick Scrabble tiles on each ghost to spell out “Boo”. The ghosts are then affixed to the frame and adorned with ribbon and decorations. The project also includes DIY floating candles, using everyday household items like paper towel tubes, hot glue, strings or fishing line, paint, and LED tea lights.

To prepare the decorations, wrap gauze around each candle holder and secure it with a hot glue gun. Apply clear or white glue drips around the top edges of the tubes, aiming for at least three layers. Black glue sticks are ideal for attaching black materials quickly and securely.

The project involves tracing the long lines of the web using a hot glue gun, then filling them in with short lines. The lines should be about 1/4″ thick.

  • Amazing as always!! You create the best decor! Halloween is my favorite day and I love to decorate but these days most DIY’s decor articles are Fall related and I love that too but it’s nice to see some incredible pieces on a budget and you never disappoint. Thank you for these awesome ideas and inspiration!!! 🎃🖤🤍🧡👻

  • You are the pool noodle Queen! 🤩 I think even Dollar Tree recognizes that because they are now carrying a pool noodle knife! When I heard about this new item, I immediately thought of you! All your pool noodle projects are amazing! 😘 And the things you create are fascinating! You remind me of the people who make things out of balloons only your pool noodle creations are so much more! I don’t think there’s anything you can’t make out of pool noodles! And that makes you the Pool Noodle Queen! 👑 With a pool noodle knife.🔪 Yeah, I think DT had you in mind when they brought us the pool noodle knife! 😚 Thanks for sharing another great article! 🥰

  • Which one is my favorite??? 😱 I love them all!!! I love the giant spider I love the candle/tree. I think that I’m making first lol. I haven’t seen those color pool noddles but I have something I can use and paint. AAmaaaazing as always!!! I love them all… did I say that already? Thank you so much! Your articles are my favorite to watch ALL the time!

  • These are all so awesome! I’m definitely going to make the Halloween lollipops and the candles, & everything else if I have enough time. My 2.5 year old is obsessed with Halloween & I’m going all out for the fall & spooky season this year. (I’ve spent way too much at Dollar Tree) 😂 Once its all up, I’ll share it with you thru Instagram. You are such an inspiration, Bethany!

  • Love all of them. You have the best ideas and I’ve made many of them. Especially the faux pies. I made an apple, lemon, cherry, pumpkin, chocolate and a chocolate pecan pie. Made the Pecans out of clay. They look sooo real. My daughter’s favorite pie is chocolate pecan so I gave one of them to her. She loved it.😊

  • Hey girl i seen a guy heat up the edge of noodle n stick um together!! Blew my mind! Now, not totally sure if it was pool noodle or different kind of noodle(?) But its worth a try huh? Let me know if it works! He heated up the end he was sticking together with a heat gun, for just a few seconds and stuck um together, held for second and they fused together!

  • For people who want a more realistic/scary spider, you can get a pack of ping-pong ball eyes at Dollar Tree and attach a bunch of those to the head. Either leaving them as human-type eyes, or spray painting them a different color. I think they come in an 8-pack. Many years ago, they sold a small net bag of rubber eyes, with flanges around the back, painted red to look like a puddle of blood. I don’t know where the majority of them went to, but I have the two best ones jammed in the eye sockets of my plastic skeleton. It looks pretty creepy to see a skeleton with bloodshot eyeball staring at you. 🙂

  • Can anyone help me? I’m having trouble finding stuff from Bethany’s articles at my dollar trees. Specifically I cannot find the white wire risers the white wire plate rack and the metal over the counter towel hanger. Does anyone have any tips such as the best day or time to go? Has dollar tree stopped carrying these items? Thanks!

  • You are absolutely great with your craft I love just about everything you do, I know first hand how hard it is to keep your website interesting, the editing, content, and the scheduling is a lot, I myself have a YouTube website and sometimes it get to be to much but you make it look to easy and I thank you so much for all your hard work. Keep it up a fan for life. By the way the house in your article is cool do you mind giving me the measurements, or assist me in making one .

  • New to your website! I’ve been sitting here with my jaw dropped for like 2 days, binge perusal all your articles and calling in my 13 year old daughter at random, like, “Get in here and see what she did with this pool noodle!” lol Thanks for sharing your gift with all of us. Favorite today were the glitter candles.

  • Fantastic Ideas!!! I am definitely borrowing your spider ideas !! This year, I’m doing a Ghost Pirate Themed treasure hunt/event for my grandchildren at Halloween. I think, maybe, I can follow your spider instuctions to create a giant octopus/sea monster. The candles are absolutely gorgeous!! I can’t wait to make some of the floating ones and standing sets!! The candy Lollies are genius!! It makes me think that a Hansel And Gretyl witches cabin might be in the future!!

  • Girl you make so many cool things. You’re so inspiring! I binge on your articles, and go and buy all the stuff, and I just don’t have the time to do it all! Lol! You’re so creative! Thank you for taking the time out of your day to make these articles, because I know it takes a lot of time and effort! Those ghosts are so freaking cool! I’m making these with my daughter. Yours looks better than the store bought one.

  • Your melting candle and the trees look better than the at home version. I am SOOOOO doing these!!!!!! I wonder if it would be possible to cut a hole out in the top for one of the better operated tea light candles so that it actually lights like a candle too! ETA: just saw that you did exactly what I was thinking on the black glitter candles. So now I know it works!!! I was already doing it but now I’m even more set on doing it. Literally the best, most creative DIYer with dollar tree stuff.

  • Beautiful ideas!! I love the spiders in the front yard and I love the candy canes and I love the Wreath, well, I loved all of it! The floating candles I have to tell you I think we’re my favorite along with the regular pool noodle candles I’m definitely gonna do that. And I think I’m gonna do it for Christmas as well! That’s a wonderful idea

  • Hi Bethany, I am looking to buy a new glue gun after years and years of using the same ones. There are so many to choose from I am at a loss. I have noticed you using several different ones in your articles. Which guns do you prefer and why? Do you prefer different ones for different uses, temps and or type of glues? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  • These are great! With your lollipops, is there any reason you didn’t put the stick through that end part? I’m thinking that might hold the whole thing glued more securely if the outer end was stuck in the wooden dowel or stick. Terrific creativity here! I’m partial to the spiders, but your melted trees are neat too.
