Hi, I’ve watched your articles and I’ve learned quite a bit about cleaning purses. I did run into one that totally stumps me. It’s a small Coach purse with some sort of ink transfer on it. I think it’s saffiano leather and I have tried EVERYTHING from hairspray to baby wipes and nothing has worked so far. I even tried Amodex, which is usually great to no avail. I’m not afraid to try anything on it as it’s no good as it is. Any thoughts? Ideas? HELP!! TY in advance!!
i got a coach purse online but its made of cloth, it was in good condition though its got a spotty metallic leather already . so anyway, one of the the stitched on C’s started to fray a bit and i didnt even use it yet. im afraid brushing it would make the threads fray even more. is there a way to prevent that from happening while cleaning. sorry for my english, its not my first language. thank you.

I watched this article three weeks ago because I was looking for a cleaner for my Coach handbag that is colored with my cosmetics. After perusal this article, I bought and used this cleanser introduced here. Unfortunately, it was not good and the color of the Cosmetic has not removed from my coach brand bag.
These types of coach bags(fabric), I put 8 of them in the washing machine and they came out perfectly. I purchased them for 10.00 a piece and sold them for $89.00 a piece . They were spotless when they came out of the machine and they smell fresh and were free of chemical residue. I Air dried them and they came out perfect! I took that chance since I got them from Goodwill and they were very dusty. It paid off!!! The leather was not compromised in any way.

IMHO, maybe do only half of the bag for a comparison? Try not to say, UM or UH. I do a tiny bit of reselling on Poshmark. Ebays search engine is WAY, too stupid. First make sure u take out everything from inside ur handbag, then turn it upside down n gently shake it to remove loose dirt, then an easier way would be taking dishwashing liquid an pouring some in a clean plastic container, and filling it with warm water, and using an old toothbrush make sure the bristles are clean, then u dip the toothbrush into the dishwashing liquid making sure not to get too much water into the toothbrush, if u get a little extra dishwashing foam on the toothbrush that’s fine, then u take the toothbrush n slowly n gently clean in a circle motion on the inside of the material but make sure u turn it inside out first, do this till it’s all clean, then take a clean paper towel and wet it a little on the side and wipe down the inside of the handbag properly until the dishwashing foam is gone, and make sure to keep on wetting ur paper towel after wiping one section at a time, never run water in the inside of the handbag or outside as it can get too wet n leave water stains, after u removed all the dishwashing foam ( optional u can wipe it down with a clean paper towel ) keep it turned inside out n let it air dry outside completely but don’t put it in direct sunlight
I know this will make most of you gasp in horror, but I just put my Coach bag in the washing machine on the gentle cycle. It’s hanging on the back of my bathroom door to dry right now. I was worried, but pretty desperate to get it clean, so I figured I’d take a chance and do it. This is a black Coach fabric bag with leather straps and trim. It looks as beautiful as the day I bought it, AND, the stains on the inside are GONE! I used stain stuff that comes in a pack of Dryelle (home drycleaning)
I hand wash my Coach purses using ‘Shout’ to pretreat stains and then I use a very gentle detergent & lukewarm water and use a toothbrush & gently scrub. Then I massage the interior I’m hand washing and they usually come out clean. I haven’t tried the sateen. I usually buy a sateen purse with a dark interior.
I’m not sure about putting a sued bag in the washing machine. Have you tried sued cleaners? Here’s my suggestion… You can find all sorts of sued bags at the thrift stores for just a few bucks. Get one that has a similar type of sued and throw it in the washer. I would use something like Woolite since it’s a more gentle soap and won’t ruin it. Add soap to the water first. Don’t put it in the dryer or it’ll come out super stiff. Let us know how it comes out. Good luck!
By the way, for even softer water that may not ruin the sued, you can add Borax to the water before putting the handbag in. For front loading machines, just add the Woolite and Borax to the dispenser. Of course no one would have recommended putting a coach bag in the washer, but it works great. Didn’t cause any harm to the leather or material.
