In Revit, you can change wall materials for interior renderings by right-clicking and choosing Select All Instances > In Entire Project. In the Properties palette, select the current wall type to expand the Type Selector. For example, you can use split face and paint for walls with the same thickness and flexibility with material boundaries. Wall sweeps are ideal for wall bases, wainscots, and moulding.
To modify wall type properties, go to your project’s modify tab, Geometry, and click on the “Modify” tab. This will allow you to modify its structure, wrapping behavior, function, and more. To create new walls and floors with a thickness of 12mm (1/2″), call them INT-Finish Floor and INT-Finish Wall.
When adding walls, follow best practices for successful modeling and productivity. When creating exterior walls of multi-level buildings, use walls that extend from the lowest level to the highest level. In Revit, you can apply a material to surfaces like paint or carpet, and then use the Paint tool to apply a new material to the related face of the wall. Convert the wall to parts and uncheck the option “Material by Original”.
In summary, Revit 2021.1.5 is a useful tool for changing wall materials in interior renderings. By following best practices and using the Paint tool, you can create walls or floors with the same type but different material.
