To ensure the safety of your family and protect against potential intruders, consider installing glass doors and windows. One effective solution is to use window security film, which works as an invisible shield made of polyester with several laminated layers. This film can be installed on the glass panes, bonding with the glass panel and preventing shattering.
To make your glass front door more secure, choose the right type of glass, install security locks, and add an entryway door. Double-glazed external doors are a good starting point for security, but laminated glass is a better option. Euro Cylinder locks are a good example of locks that are easily bypassed. Homeowners can also consider adding security pins in their lock mechanism or changing the material that the springs in.
It’s easier to break through glass and access the lock than trying to get through a solid door. To prevent this, use a security film on the glass panes, bonding with the glass and preventing shattering. If the window is broken, the security film will stop any shattering.
Fortify your entry door window by opting for thicker glass that’s harder to break upon impact. For reinforced glass doors, consider using a security glazing retrofit or an unbreakable entryway door conversion kit from Riot Glass. Install security vibration sensors, use a track lock on your sliding glass door, and improve your door frame.
For front doors with glass within arms-reach of the locking hardware, use a double-keyed or double cylinder deadbolt. You can also put a grate on the window nearest the interior bolt using products like Mr. Goodbar, made of 3/16 steel rods, spaced about 1/2″ apart from the door. By taking these precautions, you can make your glass front door more secure and keep your home safe.

I found this very useful because it made me appreciate the legitimate protection I am going to get if I am on the other side of the glass. If someone throws something hard at my head … its probably going to punch through and hit me in the head … but if someone is trying to physically get in … a few layers of plastic film can buy you time to get into position … and fight back. and before anyone says it …… yeah if they are using a gun … I get it lol
Excellent article – better than people who just take crowbar/hammer and just halfheartedly hit the glass – at least you guys really put some muscle into the hits. Though realistically all the person needs to do is make hole big enough to reach in and open the door. And that was probably more likely to be around the 15-20 seconds time. I have been considering security film but at the points where they would enter, I doubt anyone would hear that glass breaking. At most this would just slow them down for about 30 seconds. I think I will have to consider an alarmed system.
On my front windows I put on 3 layer inside BDF 7 mil each layer 7×3= 21 mil inside & outside 4 layers 2 layers clear 7mill, 1 layer tinted 8 mil & 1 layer of anti-shatter proof 11 mill 4 layers 2×7=21+8=29mill.+11mill = 40 mill outside & 21 mill inside total on my front windows is 61mill security film ! I spent a few hundred dollars ! I found when you put clear window film over the window tinted film it blocks more of the visibility through which the Velcro window film 11 mil appears to be very shiny reflective at a point over the window tent makes it more difficult to see through but be known at night they can see through if there’s a light on you need such a dark film to block all virtual ability how are you doing is trying to resist the enemy from seeing what you got !
Not a good article. So the security film, especially on both sides, deadens the noise of the breaking glass. Bad demonstration…the weakness of the security film is around the window edges (frame) which you can push in once the window is cracked. He is repeatedly striking the center of the window. All you need to do is push in one edge of the film to get inside, you don’t need to remove the whole window to gain entry. The only way to really make security film somewhat effective is to remove the glass from the frame, install the film, and re-install the glass into the frame so that the frame sandwiches the film and glass, providing adding strength. If you install the film only on the visible part of the glass (and not the glass inside the frame), then all along the edge of the frame is the weak area – crack the glass and push it in around the edge of the frame.
