*Pro tips: 1) When creating rectangular polylines, you only need to draw 3 sides and the last command is “c” on the keyboard to close it instaead of wasting time finding the end of the starting point. 2) With rectangular designs, use construction lines and offset them to the centres of where you want to create wales etc. the MLINE command can be used to create the walls by specifying the distance between the parallel MLINEs 3) Every mistake you make in CAD is not a mistake, it is a leaning experience and increses your expertise and understanding of how to create a drawing efficiently. 4) Start LEARNING ABOUT AutoLISP if you really want to understand the potential power of what AutoCAD can do for you. If it seems like something you have an aptitude for then get stuck into learning the commands available in AutoCAD from the basics, like this course.

For finding midpoint (doesnt need calculator) at 2:24:00 1. write a line from 2 red squares windows frame 2. Turn on Center Geometry Snap and Midpoint Snap 3. Copy the red node (central base) then move the midpoint of the Line 4. Erase the line That’s it. We dont need to calculate and memorize the number but super accurate distance.
Thanks for sharing. Im one of the pioneer in using ACAD since 1988, that time its under XT and Dos command. By 1998 i changed path so i forgot already mostly on settings. Now that im on my 50’s i decided to go back and learn again. I forgot the settings for DIMENSIONS, SCALING, LAYERING. Without this defaults we cannot start on drawings. @6:42 I am trying to use dimensions I made sure that I selected standard from the dimension style manager but it still doesn’t show numbers above the dimension line or an arrowhead I even tried to make my custom one but it’s still the same. Course is great thanks! But beginners keep in mind that offset and copy is not the same thing. Sometimes my man here uses offset when he should have used copy. If you are beginner research it a bit, it is a major pitfall. “The Offset command creates a parallel copy at a specified distance, while the Copy command makes an identical copy without changing the distance. They accomplish similar but distinct goals.”

I installed AutoCAD 2024 version(as a student). I have a problem with rectangle comand and dimensions. When drawing a rectangle i have no option to enter dimensions that I want. Also,when i specify two points a big rectangle is drawn all over my screen. I tried to write a dimension under the line and two big arrows appeared across my drawing,even though I’m drawing in millimeters(the lenght of the line was written far away from those arrows too).Can you please help me with this?😅Btw great course,I was havin fun perusal it!☺
When someone nervously moves constantly the mouse over the screen for no reason, he makes the viewer tired very quickly, because we actually follow the cursor with our eyes automatically. So why don’t you watch a word course 2021 and see how it is done well. I am sorry, I have to skip that article of yours even though you might be a good teacher. Respectfully, My first comment to a new users is ” They are many ways/option to do and accomplish the same function or command and it will be up to them to use a procedure that work best to complete the task. Second comment is that when preparing to drawing or create items, think about what they want to do in their mind and create steps. Example, I would like to draw a line. I go over the Cad Interface, how to create a line, Ribbons, keyboard or menu using the mouse, etc. This reinforce first comment. Third comment I do not expect them to remember anything until they have used the cad interface several times. Forth, I do expect the student to take short notes of the commands discussed for reference. I like to start them on drawing standard sheets, It cover a lot of command and to an understand layout. Which leads to Model Space and Paper Space.

We learned AutoCAD at my mechanical university in order to learn how to properly draw stuff, i thought it was also used for 3d moddeling and it would be easy to create something, I watched a lot of tutorials during the 6 hour period but I managed to create a screw. No connection whatsoever to the article but I wanted to say it took me a year to realise AutoCAD is mainly used for arhitecture.

You said that we cannot fillet the parallel lines, but after that you made a fillet because the autocad system was changed. I been a Bentley MicroStation user for over 31 years and now I am learning AutoCAD. This has to be one of the worst training courses I have seen. I been trying to get through class for 3 days. This guy is just winging it. The course could have been half as long. Most layers/levels now are object based. Working on large projects would be a nightmare with layers based just on thickness. I do not think he has any idea of construction. The methods of drawing he is showing are inefficient. He is not mixing in some of commands he showed earlier. I could go on. The AutoDesk and ‘CAD in Black’ articles is an example of a well done courses.
Hey guys. When I’m on my 00_Plan page and go to Page Setup Manager and select 1:1 scale, the drawing gets WAY too small. And then I have to use scale 1:25 to see it the way Gediminas has it. Also, since the scale is different, the properties are different too. So, I can’t use 1:50 like he does. I have to use 1/128:1, but that’s too different. So, next drawings I can’t do them because the scale is not right. How can I fix it? Thank you.

For now I think, AutoCAD is oldfashioned, like DOS. The supporters love it, the majority take Inventor, (…) or freeCAD, what marks a tremendous progress in CAD. But why not beeing nostalgic? 😇
Total newb here 😅 This looks like an awesome class. One question though… I really want to learn AutoCAD, but software is very expensive. Is there any way to get access to AutoCAD, if I’m not a student at any qualified institution. I’m typically able to learn just from YouTube, Skillshare, and Udemy.
