This glare-free illumination facilitates the identification of controls and enhances the comfort of nighttime driving.
What is the difference between ambient lighting and accent lighting?
Accent, ambient, and task lighting are three types of lighting that provide overall brightness and uniform illumination. Ambient lighting provides uniform illumination, task lighting is focused for specific tasks, and accent lighting highlights specific features in a room. These types can be combined for high-traffic areas like living rooms, dining rooms, and kitchens, depending on space availability.
Accent lighting can be used to highlight features in small living rooms, such as wall sconces, to draw attention to artwork. Overall, combining these types of lighting can create layers of dimension and create a more visually appealing space.

Why are my car interior lights not turning on automatically?
When car interior lights stop working, the most common cause is when someone else uses the dome light or dimmer switch, which can leave them in a state where they no longer come on when you open the door. To fix this issue, try pushing a different combination of buttons, such as rotating the dimmer and trying it in different positions. In some cases, the dimmer may click, indicating it is in the on or off position.
Alternatively, try operating the dome light, map light, or other interior lights with their individual switches by rotating the dimmer in different positions or the dash-mounted interior light button in different positions.
What controls interior lights?
Interior car lights are controlled using switches, sensors, or other controls and are usually powered by the car’s batteries or electrical system. There are three categories of car interior lights: displays and indicators, accent lighting, and illumination. Dome lights, mounted in the center of the car’s ceiling, illuminate the interior of a vehicle and are activated when opening or closing the door or turning off the ignition. They perform different functions within an automobile’s ecosystem.
Why won t my interior lights turn on?
When all car interior lights stop working simultaneously but other lights like the radio still work, it suggests a common issue with blown car fuses and fusible links. The fuse box may be located near the glove box, under the dashboard, or in the engine compartment. If your car has multiple fuse boxes, your owner’s manual can be helpful in locating the right one. If you cannot find the fuse, search the internet for a picture of the exact fuse box.
The “lights” fuse is usually the issue, but it can vary from vehicle to vehicle. To determine if a fuse is blown, use a multimeter or test light. If a multimeter shows no continuity between the terminals of a fuse, it indicates that it is blown. If you can’t find a wiring diagram for your specific make, model, and year, checking all fuses labeled “lights” is usually sufficient.
