Christmas decorating is an annual tradition that can make your home feel festive, joyful, and welcoming throughout the holiday season. Psychologists have found that Christmas decorations spike dopamine, a feel-good hormone, by bringing people back to simpler and happier times. The bright lights and colors of Christmas decorations act as a trigger for these happy hormones. Chromotherapy, or color therapy, is thought to increase energy levels and boost happiness.
In 2021, Christmas decor will be more refined and dressed up, featuring pearly stems, chandelier crystals, and anything that sparkles and adds an opulent feel. Silvers and other silvers are also popular choices for Christmas decorations. Decorating for Christmas is an annual tradition that can help reduce stress and boost moods.
There are many designer-approved Christmas decoration ideas to try this holiday season, from simple and budget-friendly ideas to vintage charm and creative Christmas tree solutions for small spaces. Psychologists believe that decorating for Christmas earlier can make people happier, as it creates a neurological shift that can produce happiness.
People who decorate for Christmas early are actually happier, as they bring extra joy and cheer into life sooner than later. Studies have shown that stores and businesses decorated for the holiday create a positive feeling in customers, making them feel more at home and happier.
There are plenty of Christmas decoration ideas to get you started, all of which can make you happy, help you connect with the neighbors, and make you feel more connected to the world around you.

Why does decorating make me happy?
Creating a sanctuary for relaxation during busy lives renews energy and provides peace of mind. Well-being is the highest state of mind, and our surroundings greatly impact this feeling. Painting the exterior of a house creates a new look, inspiring the desire to redecorate the interior to create harmony. Although it may take time, work, and money, the end result is bliss. Decorating is beneficial for our minds, hearts, and souls, and there are nine reasons why it is important to do it. By incorporating these reasons, we can achieve a state of bliss and rejuvenate our lives.
How to feel happy at Christmas?
The post offers 10 ways to have a happier Christmas when you’re not feeling merry. It encourages connecting to the deep meaning of the season, serving someone, celebrating the season with forgiveness, making it fun and festive, creating a new family, doing what you love, becoming the neighbor’s secret Santa, and listing all the wonderful things in your life. The post emphasizes that life is filled with ups and downs, and sometimes those downs happen over the holidays.
Positivity is not about faking it or living in denial, but knowing that things can improve and make things better. The post suggests that Christmas can provide a variety of levels of depth and meaning, from family togetherness with gift exchanges and traditions to the original celebrations of the birth of Jesus or the breaking of the dark winter season with festive lights.
What is the psychology of Christmas decorations?
Early Christmas decorations can bring happiness, anticipation, and nostalgia to some, while others may experience overwhelm or unease. Societal pressures and the pursuit of an ideal festive setting can contribute to stress and apprehension. While some may find early decorations calming and reassuring, others may experience overwhelm or unease. The emotional impact of early Christmas decorations can range from evoked joy to amplifying feelings of absence or solitude. Valuing individual inclinations and recognizing that timing holiday embellishments is a personal decision is crucial.
Why does Christmas make me feel happy?
The Christmas season is a time of nostalgia, gratitude, and joy, which can enhance one’s well-being and connect them with their inner child. For those who identify with the Christian faith, it is a time to honor the birth of Jesus Christ and remember the importance of this event in human history. The essence of Christmas is rooted in goodness, joy, and charity, which can lead to people giving to others in need. However, the holiday can be dreadful for those who have never had positive experiences with the holiday.
If they have dealt with broken relationships or trauma during the holidays, or have never celebrated with their family, they may have an adverse mental response to Christmas. To boost morale during the holiday season, individuals can shift their mental perspective and create positive experiences for themselves and others.
How does Christmas bring happiness?
The holidays are a time to celebrate the values that unite us, such as friendships and family. These connections can foster unity through togetherness, generosity, and gratitude. During the fall and winter months, many holidays allow us to gather with loved ones and express our gratitude. Giving back to our communities is crucial during the holidays, but it’s also a reminder to integrate it into our lives year-round. Surrounding ourselves with those closest to us is best.
Practicing gratitude regularly can increase mental health, enhance positive emotions, boost self-esteem, and reduce negativity. Although the holidays are meant for reflection, daily practice of gratitude can bring happiness to all. Therefore, the holidays are a reminder to integrate gratitude into our lives year-round.
What is the significance of Christmas decorations?
The Christmas tree symbolizes hope and renewal, while blue and white decorations symbolize snow and winter, while red decorations symbolize Jesus’ blood and redemption. The Star of Bethlehem, guiding the Three Wise Men to Jesus’ birth, symbolizes divine guidance and hope. Angels remind us of Jesus’ birth to the shepherds, while the bell symbolizes the call to bring back lost sheep. Candle represents Jesus as the Divine Light, mirroring the light that led the Three Wise Men to the newborn King.
Gift bow symbolizes a Christian’s commitment to goodwill and the spirit of giving, encouraging generosity and compassion. Candy cane represents the Good Shepherd’s crook used to bring back lost sheep, while the wreath symbolizes God’s eternal love.
Epiphany, or Twelfth Night, falls on January 5th and marks the end of the Christmas season for many people. It is traditional in many cultures to take down Christmas decorations, including decorative plants and Christmas trees and wreaths. The Christmas tree would be incomplete without colorful balls adorning its branches. Initially, people decorated their trees with offerings, including red apples, but this practice changed after the harsh winter of 1858, when all apple trees died.
Why did people start decorating their house for Christmas?
Displaying lights during Christmas predates the holiday itself, starting in Scandinavian countries to brighten up Winter Solstice. Early Christians adopted this pagan tradition without fear of persecution, and later Christians put candles in their windows as a symbol of safety for other Christians traveling. Today, December 21st is the winter solstice in Fairbanks Alaska, with 3 hours and 42 minutes of day light. Before electric lights, many decorated indoor Christmas trees with candles, which resulted in house fires.
Edward H. Johnson, an executive at Thomas Edison’s company, strung up a tree with lights in his home in New York City in 1882. This tradition was emulated by President Grover Cleveland at the White House in the Christmas of 1895.

Does home decor make you happier?
Building a beautifully decorated space can significantly boost our emotional health, as our surroundings significantly impact our mood. The choice of colors and materials in our home can enhance our outlook on life. To create a happy home and increase daily dopamine levels, consider using mood-boosting colors, which can influence feelings of happiness, sadness, energy, and calmness. Consider a fresh coat of paint if you’re consistently feeling low, as these colors can work wonders to bring about a noticeable shift in mood.
Does decorating for Christmas make you happier?
The practice of Christmas decorating has been shown to have a positive effect on mood and energy levels. Psychologists have found that the use of colors and lights in decorations can act as a form of chromotherapy, increasing the production of dopamine, the hormone associated with feelings of happiness.
Why do people like decorating for Christmas?
Traditions passed down through generations often involve lighting up the facade and hanging ornaments on the tree, which can be nostalgic for the joy of the holiday season. Parents hope to recreate the magic and joy of the holiday season for their children, turning longstanding family habits into annual rituals. The decorations capture the old spark and are often seen as an incantation for a spell. Many people have at least one unique holiday decorating tradition that they believe is unique to their family.
However, many people don’t need complex symbolism behind their Christmas lights, as they can create a display that brings happiness to those who see it. A bare house in midwinter serves as the blank canvas, with lights acting as the paint.
📹 COME SHOP WITH ME (and Mum): B&M vlog 🍂 Halloween & Christmas decorations
Hey my babes, welcome to a B&M vlog!! Mum and I decided to pop in to see what Halloween and Christmas decorations they had …
Desi, you are truly the best thing on YouTube! Your articles are the only ones I’m genuinely excited for every time, they always cheer me up. The gorgeous editing and umatchable coziness your articles radiate always amazes me. I can’t thank you enough for the amount of work and love you put into these little films, you bring joy into so many people’s lives!
This was everything I didn’t know I needed this year. I am a stay at home mom of three kids and the holidays have become so overwhelming with the pressure to make each Christmas bigger and better than the last. But perusal this something just clicked. I don’t need all of the crafts and gifts and events. I simply need to slow down and just be present. Romanticize the little things and realize how beautiful every day things are. I know that might be a weird thing to get out of this article but oh well. I’m just sitting here quietly crying at the weight this pulled off of my shoulders. Thank you for such an important and cozy article 🧡
Well worth the wait, Desi! I’m sorry you haven’t been feeling well since you shot this. Don’t ever sacrifice your health for any type of work. I truly hope that your cozy, seasonal environment helps you feel better and that you have a full and speedy recovery. I love the warm Christmas feeling you gave your home and wish you and Jared a very Merry Christmas! Enjoy the season! 🎄
I’m so pleased your article came out! I always look forward to them. As I have gotten older and gone through some really hard things (I’m 31), I have had a hard time with the overwhelm that comes with holidays. Feeling burdened and not like doing much because my life is so busy and stressful, it’s hard to do anything extra. Your article has brought some cheer and joy back to it for me. It’s because you share your heart and what you do is for the joy of it, not to look like everyone else or live up to an image. I can tell you care about these things because they make you happy and you share them to connect and reach others. It’s all about the heart. My son is almost 5 and he has been my motivator to foster joy and do things that are special. Today we put together a gingerbread house. I am looking forward to playing in the snow with him, doing Christmas crafts, making cookies, and helping him make and give the gifts he is dreaming up. He is such a joyful, creative little guy. Thank you so much for your articles Desi. I discovered your articles as I was in the midst of an abusive marriage that was packed full of a lot of hardship, along with being a single parent even though I was married. I felt so alone and your articles were one thing that really helped me find joy in the simple things. And that helped me get through each day. I have been out of it for almost 2 years and my life has drastically changed for the better. It’s still hard, but not the hell I was living. I still look forward to your articles and you still inspire me.
I thoroughly enjoyed this article❤️💚❤️💚 literally perusal this in May but I love Christmas🎄🎄 my mom passed away 2 months ago and Christmas was our most favorite time of year, and this article has brought me peace and brings back great memories❤️ Christmas will be difficult this year, but I am hopeful and excited to continue my mom’s legacy and our traditions
I’m currently very sick, holed up in bed at university, living in a tiny room with two other people and this article was exactly the comfort I needed right now when all I wanna do is be home and recover in my own space. All of your articles are like a big warm hug, so cozy and comforting. Thank you for everything you do Desi <3
This article is so wonderful and cozy! It’s such a nice start to the winter season! I did want to mention that OCD is not a love of organizing or needing things a certain way (though that can definitely be a form of OCD if not having things a certain way leads to severe anxiety). As a person with OCD, I experience persistent intrusive thoughts and urges that I feel the need to alleviate through compulsions. Unfortunately, OCD has been adopted in popular vernacular to mean a person who is particular, but that’s not the reality of it. I hope this doesn’t offend you or other viewers, I just wanted to take this moment to gently educate about this mental illness. Thank you for the wonderful articles, and I hope you feel better soon!
To all the busy folks out there who work and don’t have the time or financial resources to decorate or go big this holiday season: it’s OK. Do what you can with all your heart. Even if it’s just putting up a wreath. 😅 And to the Mom’s who wish they could have a cute, clean, decorated and organized house but can’t because of children: it’s also OK. One day you’ll look back and realize that being there and making messy memories is better than having that Pinterest perfect home. 🤗 (Saying this to encourage myself. I never have time to do anything anymore now that I work all day!)
Desi, I love seeing how you decorate for the seasons. It’s so inspiring. It makes me so excited for when I get my own cozy home one day. My fiancé and I have been together for 7 years, and each year we gift one another an ornament for our future tree. I love delving into holiday traditions and making the most of it! I hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas! ❤
I’ve begun covering my books with paper bags like my grandmother used to do. Her house always looks so lovely. She would calligraphy the name of the book on each one and when she was bored she would doodle on the cover while she was reading it. I still have a few of her books with those covers. They looked so lovely on her shelf.
Welcome back. I’ve missed you. Love the Christmas decorating article. It has inspired me to get started. I’ve been putting it off because my furnace is broken and the soonest appointment I could get is 12/23/22. Living with space heaters until then, and I think I will need a new system. Thank you for the boost of desire to decorate. So happy you’re back. Hope you are in the best of good health.
I am in LOVE with this article 😍🤗💓 You and I have such similar obsessive tendencies with going all out on ambiance and decor when the seasons change 😄 I’m so happy to see more people love decorating their homes for the holidays, it really does make a huge difference in bringing joy into your life. Thank you Desi, always a pleasure to watch your creativity unfold 🎄🎁🎅☃️
I make cinnamon rolls on Christmas eve but put them in the fridge overnight. Bake in the morning. My youngest son who is now 20, says Christmas smells like cinnamon rolls. I had no idea it was that important to him. Look up a recipe for overnight cinnamon rolls or make ahead. Alton brown has a good one but I use one from Cooks Illustrated. Doing it that way makes the morning such a breeze, especially on busy days.
That little detail of you timing the lyrics “with a string” to you tying of the cinnamon rolls with a string made me smile so much for some reason! 🙂 The attention to detail and care you put into making your articles doesn’t go unnoticed! I had seen that you’ve uploaded before I went to bed yesterday and was looking forward to perusal it once I wake up!! Now I do while cosy in bed with a fresh banana bread I baked and candles lit around me, and would you believe, it FINALLY started to snow today! Thank you Desi, for helping all of us to feel cosy and happy and restful in this cold season!💖 Wishing you ALL the best for your health and in general, and everybody who might read this a very happy, kind, most excellent winter❄💙❄
Such a beautiful article, and well worth the wait as always. I wasn’t having the greatest day but this really brightened up my mood. You are totally going to love reading little women for the first time. I wish I could go back and experience it for the first time again myself. I just finished rereading it and it was so heartwarming. ❤🎄❤
I love your articles Des!! They are just so wholesome and sweet! I also love that you don’t try to be perfect. If you take to big a bite or trip while dancing… you just role with it! The content is beautiful and aspirational…but not perfect and sanitized!! Always stay that way. (PS, Kitty is growing up quite nicely and is so adorable!)
Oh Desi, this article was more than worth the wait!!! You are SO darling and your joy, enthusiasm and smile are all contagious!!! I loved every second!! I’m so interested to hear what your ideas for a Little Women Christmas themed bedroom would include, and YES to little themed activity vignettes! Honestly, you are precious!! Thank you for alllll your hard work!! I know this one was not easy for you. Take good care of yourself, dear!! 🥰
I work in a small independent bookshop in Germany and while December is our busiest month, it is also lovely to work during this time of year ♥️ – to give recommendations to customers looking for something for their loved ones 🧸 and wrap them as presents, the whole team wearing Christmas sweaters and sometimes customers are playing on our piano (it’s open to all)… 🎹 this year, we are doing an advent calendar in our window display where we wrapped 24 books and every day we open one of the packages! 🎁 It‘s hectic and wholesome and quiet and cozy and magical 💫🎄✨
I love the way you decorate. I’m always just astounded by the fact that you wonderfully are your unique self and you have a fully supportive partner who loves your uniquely awesome self. I’ve had such an opposite life it blows all the false beliefs that were built up to smithereens. 🤓 It’s been a while since I’ve watched your website. You guys have moved? Your place looks awesome and the landscape in your area is gorgeous💖🎄🎶🕊️
I love to imagine that this is how I would live my life if I weren’t such a drained mom 😀 I mean, I love my kids and I try to involve them in many activities during winter season. But taking so much time to decorate, enjoy and be present in the season is way beyond my reach now 😀 as for the bucket list, I created an advent calendar with activities for our family, so we can spend some fun time together. I am looking forward for having a picnic under a christmas tree and reading wintery kids books with only candle and fairy lights on.
This article is so absolutely incredible. I’m 30 years old too, I didn’t know we were the same age! I (very poorly) imitate so much of your article style to the best of my ability on my website. (Not trying to plug my website, it’s just true lol). Thanks for all the quality content, it is like sinking into a cozy blanket and perusal the best, most relaxing article ever. ❤️❤️😍 And loving your Christmas vibe!!
Desi, I’m going to suggest that you watch A House Without A Christmas Tree. It’s a teleplay that used to air every year on CBS in the 1970s with Mildred Natwick and Jason Robards. It’s quite special and highly influential to the creator of The American Girl dolls. The main character Addy, is very special.
Hello Desi, I just want to tell you that your articles, you and your life feeds my inner child so much. It’s like you’re inviting me in magic. I also wanted to share with you that I just finished the 5th film of harry potter last night (I’m doing a december rewatch) and I am still crying like a baby for Sirius and the fact that “that home” doesn’t exist. I want that magic so much and I don’t know how to have it, how to create it. I desperately want to meet the characters, to engage with them and talk about their magic. Sorry for sharing this stuff, I just felt here were present the right people who would understand that feeling..
@8:15 it’s not like you’re ruining books, if it doesn’t look great they can always be turned back 🙂 anyways it DOES look great, also this was a quite common practice for old libraries to preserve antique and valuable books – it helps to keep the pages well aerated and moisture-free, reducing the risk of mold (at least, that’s the explanation I was given on a guided tour)
So, cute 😍😍😍 And you inspired me to add more ideas to my bucket list: I want a family photo with my partner and all our furries, I want to organise a little Santa’s workshop where we listen to Christmas music and make cookies and put them in cute jars as presents, I want a tablegames night and a walk in the snow during the night with my dog (she loves snow, so we go on a midnight walks whenever it snows during the night) and little presents for my pets 🎄🎁. Thanks for this beautiful article, Desi, and enjoy the season 🥰
Did you know that candy canes are invented in sweden in past history by a woman called Amalia Eriksson in 1859? Its a wonderful story of a poor independent woman Who found her own way and living by creating these and selling att the lokal market. Thanks for the holidayspirit. I wish I had more time to rest so I could enjoy these times more. Best wishes from a swedish contryside by a fire and a cup of christmastea /Hanna
This Christmas article from you is the best first of december gift I could have! So cozy and inspirational! I know that you are not feeling well, and I hope you will get better soon❤ I have a humungous christmas bucket list. We have so many customs here in Norway. I also have dutch heritage, so I bake speculaas the sixth of december. Then I bake Lussekatter on the 13th, for saint Lucia. Saffron buns in strange shapes! Then of course gingerbread. Then there is a tradition to bake 7 (or nine) types of cookies. I usually only bake one or two of them. I suffer from a chronic neuropatic illness, similar to MS, and I never get to do all, or most, of the things I want to do. To me, music and movies and books are very important, since I cant move much. Have a blessed Christmas, Desi, it is a great healer❤🩹
Hi, nice to meet you. I’m japanese and impressed by your article now. In Japan, most people treat Xmas as a commercial one. But every year i try to enjoy Christmas like you because i love magical things. I’m just surprised that you are perusal HOME ALONE which i love and HOGWARTS ASMR i usually listen to!! I wish I could enjoy this joyful season like you. Sorry for my awkward English, im still learning:(
This article is a magical warm winter hug. I literally went, “Yay, she’s back!” Well worth the wait. I hope you feel better soon. You are such an inspiration to me. (By the way your reversed bookshelf is gorgeous.) Oh, and I have some Christmas bucket list items I thought I’d share. 🙂 -Winter Picnic with blankets -Winter hike to lookout with peppermint tea -Drinking Wassail -cozy White Christmas movie night with peppermint hot cocoa
Yayyy! I’m so happy that there’s a new article! I’ve been perusal your older ones over and over again. Thank you for making it!! ✨ It’s funny that we were born on the same day and that we have a shared love for “The Holiday”. It’s one of my absolute faves this time of the year…but mostly all year round. 😊
Oh my god, your entire house is so exquisite and gorgeous! I love how everything looks so cosy, comfy and festive at the same time. It’s all so beautiful and magical. I’ve never celebrated Christmas (cuz I’m Muslim) but when I was a child I always loved the decorating and the whole getting-toys-from-santa thing. I always loved Christmas vibes and Christmas movies. It brings me back so many fond memories. PS: I’m gonna marry my fiancé who is a Muslim convert but still has a soft spot for Christmas and wants to celebrate it. I’ve agreed and I can’t wait to finally decorate my own Christmas tree and everything…Omg. So excited!!! Definitely gonna use your article as inspiration.
Desi, I just found you and immediately subscribed! I love everything about this article, the scenery, the music and Binx! The Holiday is my favorite Christmas movie too!! Your warmth and enthusiasm, just shines through. If I had ever been lucky enough to have a daughter, I would have wished her to be just like you!! 🎄❤🎄
I loved this article! It gave me some neat ideas and inspiration for future decorating! I also listen to a Hogwarts Christmas ambiance articles, but it’s usually while I wrap presents or just need a big of a relaxing night. Quick cat owner trick: place little bell ornaments around the bottom of your tree so you can hear when she’s messing with the branches. It truly helps in catching them in the act and teaching them to stop. Cats during Christmas can either be a hassle or they aren’t bothered, so hopefully she becomes the latter! Lastly, I must know where you get some of your items! Specifically the long pretty spoons and the comfy cable knit pillows. I look everywhere for them, but can never find the right ones! I can’t wait until the next article! <3
Hi Desi, You are so inspiring. You have such a beautiful outlook. Almost like a child. Hang on to all your beautiful thought’s. And please never change. Life goes so fast grab it and hang onto it for all your might. Thank you for sharing all your inspiration. God bless and MERRY CHRISTMAS ❄️🎁🦌⛸🎄⛄️🛷🎈!!!!!!!!!!!!
The festive vibes are now so strong after perusal this gorgeous article, it was certainly worth the wait. I do hope you’re feeling better lovely. I loved the cocoa bar idea and turning things we do in the run up to Christmas into events, I really want to try that this year and continue it throughout next year too. You are so inspiring, thankyou so much for all the beautiful content you create even when it’s hard for you to do so, it is very much appreciated by all your fans.
Warning about sleigh beds. My friend has one and says she would never get one again bc they take up so much extra space with the curved sleigh ends and they are hard to make in the morning especially if they are close to a wall. Just don’t want you to be disappointed if you change from your canopy to that.
Omw Desi, you outdid yourself this year, it is absolutely magical and beautiful, it all came together so perfectly, your taste is immaculate 😍🎄❤️your articles bring me so much joy, your content is amazing and is filmed so well💗I hope you have a wonderful holiday season and that you enjoy Christmas to the fullest
Since you’re wanting to immerse yourself in LIttle Women, I have another book to recommend to you: The Other Alcott by Elise Hooper. It’s based on the story of May Alcott, real-life younger sister of Louisa May, and the inspiration for Amy March. Apparently she was horrified by her representation in the book, and she WAS an artist in real life. She even did some of the illustrations in the first publications by Louisa May Alcott. I don’t want to give away the whole story, but suffice it to say that May Alcott had a very interesting life of her own! 🙂
Ah, I enjoyed this article so much and how perfect to watch it on 1st of December! Everything feels so cozy and I love seeing the decorations from previous Christmas articles, your mug collection and how cozy you decorated. Binx is absolutely adorable! I am so excited to read Little Women this month and I also recommend Letters from Father Christmas by JRR Tolkien, I used to always read it on Christmas Eve before I moved, it is so perfect!
I cannot put into words how it felt to watch this. You have this way of capturing magic and cosiness and love and transporting it through a screen right into other people’s hearts. You are a gift to this world, Desi and your articles bring me calm and comfort that is absolutely unparalleled. I’ve had SUCH a rough couple of weeks and this was the one half hour I felt the most peace. From the bottom of my heart: thank you. I hope you will be doing better soon 🤍🕯️❄️☕🎄
This was such a comfort hug type of article which I definitely needed! Unfortunately I had a bad night mentally last night and this was just what I need 🥺 I am starting to slowly and surely get into the Christmas spirit and would love to do some more Christmas activities. I’ve watched a Christmas movie already but I would love to do more Christmas activities 🙂
This article was absolutely adorable and TOTALLY worth the wait! Leave it to Desi to bring out all of the Christmas coziness and cheer. I hope you’re feeling better, and thank you for all of the time and effort you put into these beautiful articles. Happy Holidays to your darling little family!! PS. I’m not sure if you’ve already done a tutorial for this, but I loved your hairstyle (braids) when you were decorating your bedroom and really would like to know how to do it too! 🎄 🧡
I couldn’t imagine a better way to start December than with a new article from you 🥰❤️ No one inspires me to make the most out of all the seasons as much as you do! Thank you so much for all the hard work you put into these articles, that make so many people feel calm and joyful 💕 The cocoa bar is the cutest idea ever and ended up looking absolutely amazing 🥰 Happy 1st of December Desi, to you and your lovely family ❤️
Hi Desi loved this article! I’m a bit sad about your OCD comment. Just so you know OCD is not about cleaning or things being in order – it is a very debilitating mental disorder that presents itself in lots of different ways! It’s really important not to use it as an adjective for being tidy. (Obviously, if you actually have OCD please ignore this!!!).
I actually don’t mind the books being flipped. Sometimes it does make sense aesthetically. Also, I think there’s companies that can make your custom wallpaper based on pictures and such. Also, I think it’s so so funny you made the bucket list I was making one myself just last night, but it’ll be different as now I live in a warmer climate lol. I just love your articles, so I am excited for what else you post for winter. Reading Little Women is such a good idea! I haven’t read it in YEARS and I actually started it recently hoping to go through it again. Post progress on IG if that helps. Hope you’re doing better, Desi!
Your bedroom looked so cosy! I had a similar issue in my living room with my books. In the end I left all my vintage books on the shelf as, even though they are all different colours, they are nice and muted and put the rest on a shelf on the landing where they don’t really spoil the aesthetic. Greetings from Wales
I wish I could do this now. In my home its so snowy and cold, but, I’m going on a trip to somewhere warm so I will have to cram it all into the week before Christmas. Also, I love how you decorate your home every year, it’s so cozy and festive, and it just seems like it would feel like stepping into a little cabin in the woods. :virtualhug:
This article is packed with cozy cottage vintage christmas winter vibes!! If you want some more nostalgia, consider getting a real xmas tree next year because the smell is amazing and it lasts through January(sometimes i leave mine up til feb🤭😊). It can be a pain to put up, but it’s definitely worth it 🙂 Blessed Yule 🌲🌨❄⛄🕯🕎🎅🎁
I’m trying so hard to be festive and cozy…just bought six amazing winter sweaters from TJ Max and decorated my home, but I’d be more happy if it wasn’t for the fact that my sweet dachshund passed away jus a few days ago. My heart aches … P.S. I think the book shelf looks good that way…with the creams and whites facing outward.
Here’s my list: 1. Decorate the tree and put up decorations while listening to Christmas music. 2. Make gingerbread for a gingerbread house-making party (a tradition in my family… now that I live on my own, I’ve been doing it for 10 years. ALWAYS invite friends with children… they now call me the Gingerbread-House Lady… which makes me feel like a witch which I’m totally down for). 3. Watch Lord of the Rings and/or Harry Potter (both count as Christmas movies in my household). 4. Make cheesecake. Usually cookies and cream flavor. 5. Go for a snow walk – any time it snows at night (really beautiful fluffy snow), go for a walk. 6. Walk through the mall while everyone is shopping and Christmas music is playing. 7. Play my favorite Christmas record on the record player. 8. Read A Christmas Carol, or from the JRR Tolkien “Father Christmas” book of letters he wrote to his kids. I’ll add Little Women to my list!
First let me say this is the most different decorating for Christmas article I’ve ever seen and I love it! Your voice is soothing, your opening of this article brought tears to my eyes, in a good way. I love how this article began. The snow, your pjs, your cocoa, cinnamon rolls. How you told it. Absolutely beautiful. Turning books around, genius! How you ended your article is wonderful. Thank you for this article. The world needs more of you ❤🌲⛄ Oh, I love Binx 🐈⬛❤
Your mum is just so adorable. Love a mum and daughter B&M trip, so wholesome lol. This time of year is awful for drying out your skin, I have eczema and I am suffering😩 also would love sleep tips/routine because I swear as I get older my sleep gets worse? Would love to know aswell if you think food affects your sleep because I feel like our diets are similar and I often wonder if it affects me. Oh and random but H Beauty in MK have a carnival thing on that looks like fun, thought it could be a cute sisterly date for you and Soph! Have a great week Gorge!
