How Can I Rearrange Objects In Skyrim To Decorate?

In Skyrim, self-decorating is possible through various techniques, such as dropping items on the floor, walking around the item until it looks like the desired orientation, and holding grab to pick it up in that orientation. The game registers the location of the item when dropped, and if you quicksave, reload, or leave and enter the cell, the location is recorded.

To keep items from falling off shelves or moving in your house, you can use the move/drag feature by moving the cursor over an item or body and holding down the action (A) button. This button is typically used for talking, picking up, or looting. You can also use the Whiterun Home Decorating Guide, a book in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, given to the Dragonborn by the steward when Breezehome is purchased in Whiterun.

To place items and bodies in Skyrim, stand as far away from the object as possible and slowly move forward until you see the TAKE prompt. Instead of taking it, hold the X or L2 button instead of taking it. Self-decorating is still feasible in Skyrim, provided you learn some tricks to make it easier.

The Decorator Helper power allows you to move, rotate, and resize almost any item, even those from other mods, and lock clutter into place. Press and hold E to move stuff around, and then go ahead and place corpses in the corner.

In summary, self-decorating in Skyrim is possible through various techniques, including using the move/drag feature, telekinesis tricks, and the Whiterun Home Decorating Guide. By learning these tricks, you can create a unique and organized space in Skyrim.

  • oh this drove me nuts in skyrim. I play skyrim on ps3 you can just leave the items you drop on the floor like you said go out of the house and come back in and then you can move them you can drop items you want to decorate with then do like she said in the article but it took me a long time to find that out in the game

  • `disable` & `enable` will reset an item as well. That is, if you’re on PC and can access the command console through the “~” tilde key. An item can be reset this way without needing to leave the area and return again. If you’re not on PC, just let the chips fall where they may. Lainezor’s method has you covered. The position reference of the item is where ever you initially had it dropped from your inventory – until you reset it; typically by leaving the room or area and forcing the location cell to reset. You can get your Mr Robot on by opening up the console, and clicking on object/item to retrieve its reference ID. Take care to ensure you have the right reference ID, unless you want to disable the wrong object. Player item reference IDs usually begin with “FF00” Position & Place (while object ID is referenced): 1. `getpos (X, Y or Z)` 2. `setpos (X, Y or Z)` 3. `getangle (X, Y or Z)` 4. `setangle (X,Y or Z)` – you won’t see the angle reset until you update any one of the position axis again 5. `getscale/setscale` – for the sake of experiment, you may need to update one of the position axis again to see the scale reset 6. after all of this, verify the position reference by disabling the item or object, e.g `disable` 7. then toggle it back by re-enabling it, e.g `enable`

  • @lainezor yeaaaah, I made this whole decoration in my whiterun house with all the stuff removed first, and started making the table by the alchemy table to look like a writing table. had a basket with some rolls of paper in it and an inkwell and one of those feather pens and a skull on the table. + in the kitchen had a basket full of APPLES!! -I don’t know why, but I collected apples xP) then left and came back and apples Were EVERYWHERE! And Everything Else I had put up! D:

  • I…. love…. you…. I’ve had Sky rim since release and I sorta have a hording issue along with OCD and have been trying to figure this out forever! I literally about three minutes ago threw my controller in furious rage and said “f it I’m checking YouTube” loading back up now, if it works I’ll kneel to you and pledge my undying loyalty to your glory. If you think this is a little much, you’ve no idea how frustrated I have been lol hours of decorating for naught.

  • heyy, does anyone know how these small pink glowing starlike flowers in darkfall cave / forgotten vale are called? want to spawn them in my garden, but can’ t find the code anywhere 🙁 24.media.tumblr.com/c439efca2c9246b4b77ab1daa9ed98c9/tumblr_n01wohZtPd1suas8zo3_1280.jpg – those around mushrooms and gleamblossoms. there are also the ones who lights up and darkens when you walk along.

  • Thank You! I dropped the Bust of the Gray Fox right next to the Statue of Dibella, and they both fall over! I also tried putting two weapons in the same display case (Irritating as Hell)! But once I put them FAR away from each other everything went swell! Now I gotta figure out a way to get jewelry next to each other 🙁

  • Hi. Found out why somethings will stay and others won’t etc…. You are right, if you place something, leave, come back and replace it, the item will stay….. However…. If you place an item too close to another, both items will be found on the floor upon returning to your house. Meaning: You cannot place a bunch of food inside a bowl, or books on top of one another. Hope this helps people.

  • Mods don’t work for PS3 and Xbox. Some may but a large quest line, player home, or any complete overhauls would probably just crash it or not work at all. However retextures may work but I will note it probably wouldn’t work for systems. The working types of mods are just my hypothesis and you shouldn’t really bother with modding systems other then the PC.
